it works good with my fretless. haven't had any issues with how the envelope/triggers work but my pickups are active so maybe that's why? I couldn't tell you.
You can (I have) play bass through a Miku, but the lower notes tend to fluctuate between the note and an octave higher, which may or may not be what you want ;O) It's also useful to do it through a blend pedal as the lag is less useful than you might think. My Miku is currently in the loop of a DOD Rubberneck where some of her limitations are avoided.

Microsynths are far more than a one trick pony. At the core, it's a paralell sub, octave fuzz, gated fuzz, and clean boost, with a triggered filter that you can bypass.
I own the WMD geiger counter pro (upgraded 12 bit version with filter and presets). It is indeed a distortion AND bit crusher. And it does indeed sound great.
The EHX Bass synth is a must have on my board. Even it’s the newer, smaller version. Use it since almost 10 years. Made some records with it and it’s kind of my „signature“ sound
