Dawn of "The Earl"?
Narrated by Bob Jenkins: Highlights of the '91 race...but rebroadcast in '95 with a commercial to buy tickets for the '96 race at Disney.. (1:28).
IIRC, Disney Co. already owned ABC/ESPN back then. I'm not usually one of those 'conspiracy theory' folks..but in this case?
Maybe so. OTOH, the ad for the Disney 200 only appears once in this. Seems like a real Corporate Overlord would have had that ad in every commercial break.
There's good stuff here, though. Danny in the Alfa, Bobby Ray making the old "..rather be lucky than good.." comment on camera, and Gary Bettenhausen cutting a 224 in a non-factory effort. Hiro and Willie T. qualify.
Buicks burst, which probably lead to that rule that Penske & Illmore used to build "The Beast" a couple of years later.
Other ad worth noticing is the Kit Kat Bar thing. Full lyrics, back when the jingle was new. :D
Again, apologies for the tape tracking errors in the upload. Last VHS machine I have that still works has automatic tracking, and I don't have the ability to get rid of that stuff.

Thanks for posting this, but i am sad that the old 2 weekend qualifying format is gone,i haven't really even thought about the 500 this year til the last few days...It's very sad that there might not even be any bumping in,the shame is the new cars have made the 500 itself interesting again imo,anyhow...

+akilgour13 , yeah. It always got interesting when someone who qualied on the second weekend was faster than the pole speed. You knew somebody was going to make a move in the race. And I love Bump Day..all those guys trying to get an older car up and into the field for this one race. Great stuff. I think the problem is that the current cars are so new that there''s not many on the "used" market for privateers to buy & prepare.

they're not that new any more, they're 5 years old. the problem seems to be money, the cars cost a lot and so do parts, plus not enough motors to go around.

***** , you might be right about the motors. As much as I love the CART era, I kind of forgot that most of their motor deals were leases.

+Randy Dubin , turned out to be the damn Kit Kat ad! Evidently it matched the same ad in an old Wrestlemainia broadcast or something. I sent YT a message, guess after an actual human saw it, they decided everything was cool. I hope I made somebody's day over there.
