you should make an episode on the Dardick pistol, it was like this, but it used triangular polymer case rounds (called trounds), it was a showpiece for how the ammo could serve in a machine gun it could really have been impressive as a belt-fed pistol since the bullets can just be pushed indefinitely feed into the bottom
i would add that reload speed isnt the only thing it has going for it. these novel, ridiculous and even impractical designs add so much richness to gun history, and are a great vessel for ideas that just might work, or at least might inspire a better idea.
There's actually a few guns that function In a really weird ways that are kind of similar. For example, the Tech revolver has a side loading replacing cylinder. So it's essentially a round magazine that goes into the side of the gun rather than exchanging The spent rounds and replaced them in the cylinder. They just replaced the entire cylinder but I don't think that quite counts.
Classic case of cool concept, bad practicality, kinda like the multiple attempts of recoil operated revolvers. Luckily for me I frankly have a guilty pleasure of occasionally loving cool concepts, bad practicality, like this thing and the Webley Fosbery.

What if we make it have 6 slots in the revolving part and make it spin when we insert a mag so it loads the revolving part? It feels like it's going to become too prone to mechanical failure, thought it already feels like it is. Anyway, i only care about this because of Fallout game.
