I actually performed a similar trick years ago as part of a community center magic show. The crowd went nuts when I passed the upside down glass over my head. I'm just glad I could keep the seal on the plastic lid for long enough.

It's actually atmospheric pressure that keeps the lid on. Also, this wouldn't work with a 32 foot tall cup.

If he would have had a very calm hand he could have done it without the lid... the surface tension of water is high enough to keep the water inside the glass as long as you keep the glass 100% straight. Now THAT'S science😉

If you do it with a water bottle you don’t need a hole or a cap. Just slightly squeeze it to make the water tumble out, and it stays because the water bottle mouth is smaller
