One of the strangest and most unique times of my life was tasting live octopus, and rattlesnake and rabbit sausage as well as one of the most delicious bone marrow tacos of my life all in Los Angeles.
Following my trip to Los Angeles, I am going to go with my good friend Mehdi to taste some of the exciting dishes here, and of course, dear Jeffrey has arranged for us to go to a Korean restaurant to eat live octopus!
Our first destination today was a restaurant that has strange sausages, the name of the place is Wurstkuche, which is an Austrian-German name and was opened in 2008, and it has a branch in Santa Monica. Here you can find different types of sausages that you cannot find anywhere else. They have Rattle snake sausages and rabbit sausages and many other classic and exciting items.
Here you can find all kinds of Belgian German beer, Belgian fries with a variety of sauces, Louisiana sausage, pork sausage and Kielbasa. There are a lot of cool dishes here that you can also try. I tried the rabbit sausage with Dijon mustard sauce, which was delicious. I also tried the rattle snake sausage with fries, and beer, all of which were excellent.
One of the tourist and food attractions in Los Angeles are the food trucks and their street food. The quality of these food trucks is so high that sometimes many people prefer this style of food to restaurants. Pepe's Red Tacos food truck has all kinds of tacos, like amigos tacos, burritos, which are served with a unique sauce, and of course, Mexican Coca-Cola. The one thing I really wanted to try is the Mexican taco with bone marrow, along with an amazing sauce called consomme, which is clear soup made from richly flavored broth, that makes it strangely delicious. It is made with beef broth, dry chili, adobo sauce, apple cider vinegar, spices, pickles, fried onions, tomatoes and garlic which turns into a smooth sauce in the form of a puree, which we put on the tacos and it is extremely delicious.
Tacos are very common here, they are served in different ways, and I tasted two models, one of which was Huesi Taco, which had meat and bone marrow, and was absolutely delicious
The live octopus at the Wa! Ssada Korean restaurant in Los Angeles was one of the most amazing experiences I have had in all these years. Korean halibut, scallion pancakes, Korean halvah fish, Santa Barbara king shrimp, which is considered the most famous seafood in Southern California, hand-rolled kimchi, and Korean sashimi.
Live octopus is a popular Korean dish that I tried for the first time. They take the live octopus from the aquarium that was in the restaurant and chop it up, while it is still moving even on the plate. It is served with ingredients such as pieces of garlic and soy sauce. You have to chew it, but since I was so nervous, I swallowed it down, which almost choked me, and until the next day, it was playing in my stomach. Abalone, is a type of mollusc that is cut alive and served with fresh radish and wasabi, which was very delicious. The Santa Barbara prawns were so sweet they tasted like candy.
The way to eat Korean sashimi, is to have it with lettuce or leaves and soy sauce and hot sauce, which tasted great. The chef's special dish of the day was kama toro, which is the meat from the tuna collar.
