On Veterans Day Weekend, 2012, 1937-built ALCO 2-8-0 #60 returned to public excursion for the first time in 12 years! Although the engine pulled a few trips for testing purposes, these trips were the first steam powered excursions advertised to the public. In this video, #60 will pass our camera at multiple locations along the railroad. We've included scenes from both Saturday the 10th and Sunday the 11th.
We start off with #60 being prepared for a day in the spotlight. Many railfans from all over the east coast came to witness and ride behind this husky consolidation. For many, this was their first time witnessing #60 in action. For others, it brought back great memories from the past when #60 ran regularly on the BR&W.
Come with us on this journey into the Garden State, as we follow Black River & Western #60 over this former Pennsylvania Railroad branch line.
