here in canada, i fix cars during spring all the way to fall, then in winter i work at a hotel to change my mind, when srping arrives I cant wait to fix cars again! yeah go walk!
Welcome back! This quarantine has been hard on a lot of people. I’ve always enjoyed both of your channels especially the one’s about your dad’s truck. I got my dad’s 1999 C1500 Classic just before he passed away in 2018 so your truck videos are close to my heart. I’m glad you’re staying healthy and safe.
It is a wise man indeed who recognizes his limitations, executes a plan to correct what has pulled him down and learned to change his perspective going forward. My hat's off to you.
Thank you for the birthday cake! I took a day off work for today and took the chance to service my 2017 Honda Civic RS. After being subbed for a long time listening to you talk and walk Honda and now having your own Type R, I worked my butt off during that time and finally joined the Honda family. I totally love it! The only gripe I've got is that it's a pain to lift up! But it gives me something different to work with and that just equals more experience. Now to watch your vid!
Eric, you already did what you need to do, you have established yourself , you have help a lot of us out here with your videos. Live your life how you want take time off at times when you see fit but like everyone says an you know it’s true ... we all go through life once, so with that said you do what you know it’s good for you.
Take care of your mental and physical health and learn to pace yourself. Don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. A happy you will make for a happy us, your fans.
Eric we love ya man, thanks for your work and thanks for your candor. A lot of us need to keep in mind, that it's ok and good to talk about things like this! only so many hours in the day. mental health and physical health are BOTH #1 Thanks for being real!
Eric - I've been watching your videos for quite some time now. besides great ability to teach and your expertise you are a great guy , honest and conscious about life and yourself. I really hope more people could be like You.
I’ve been watching your videos for a little over 3yrs now. Im about to finish my studies and about to be a professional mechanic after this covid thing is over. Words arent enough to express just how thankful I am for you and your videos. You’ve been a big help in my life, man. Thank you very much.
Been watching your vids for years for inputs (especially for Subarus!), and i only want to say that I love your honesty and hard-earned optimism. As far as a guy goes, I fugging love you for all that you do. Your I-TR has never looked better, glad to hear you're enjoying it!
I’m glad you had some time to relax and rethink things! I agree with you about work. I’ve worked since I was 14. I learned during this time it’s good to treat yourself. So you know what! I bought a car. 2016 Accord Touring with the V6. Amazing car. Love the content you put out!!👍🏼
ETCG1 I have a question for you. I’ve read about Honda V6s and the VCM causing misfires, fouled plugs, and worn motor mounts. Should I get the VCM Muzzler or just leave it alone?? The car only has 52K miles on it.
I used to have a job that i hated so much i was miserable going to work though the job duty was easy and the pay was great. i left the minute i could and i must say liking what you do is important. And everyone needs a vacation even if its for a day it really helps relax the mind. i hope you recovered and hope to see your videos again.
I think I speak for a lot of people about excitement regarding the fixing it forward. Sounds like you got a lot of gold on those hard drives to me! Hope you have some nice time off! Keeping my 94 Accord running really nice thanks to you! I actually bought the timing belt video from your site. Planning on doing that this summer. As always stay dirty! :)
Hey man Kevin here from Australia . I love your videos especially the builds like the Fairmount. Anyhoo stay safe and stay well. And thank you for being Eric the car guy and ETGC1. ✌ Peace man.
Good for you, Eric, for giving yourself the space to take a rest and figure things out. I really enjoy your perspective and approach to life. Thank you for doing what you do, and take care!
It's a good point to show awareness on mental health in these trying times, especially in the automotive world where it is often overlooked, and every person in the automotive field is expected to handle these types of issues like a quick oil change. Glad to see you back on track buddy.
@@ETCG1 I think you should. Simple awareness can go a long way and might help open up a lot of minds about the matter. Thanks for replying Eric. Great content.
back when i was young and dumb i worked two full-time jobs and had 4 kids and lost them and the love of a beautifully because i was never home. hindsight is 20/20. it is not worth it. spend time with the family, they are your biggest reward. don't miss out on the growing up of the family.
You didnt lose your beautiful wife because you werent home enough. You lost her because she thought she had a better option by monkey branching to another man that was available to you. Women constantly assess and try to trade up when they think better opportunities exist elsewhere. See Jay Cutler's divorce as an example.
Michael, men can be the same way too. All it takes is a partner that doesn’t want to try. I’ve worked two full time jobs at the same time before trying to support my family and make ends meet. My wife at the time had other plans for my paychecks and we constantly struggled. I still remember the day she told me she wanted a divorce and she would be happier without me. It was like a huge weight was lifted off of my shoulders. We lost everything including the house in the divorce but after a while it was like a cleansing. I have since then met a wonderful woman who is now my wife. Bought another house. My current wife and I worked together to pay it off in 6 years. My daughter that I have with my ex lives with me and barely sees her mom anymore(her mom’s choice). My ex had it wrong when she said she would be happier without me. I’m much happier without her.
@@basedeal 70% of divorces are initiated by the female, statistics are stacked against us like you wouldn't believe. Male suicide rates are also astronomically higher than females, for related reasons.
I can agree 100%... When you lose yourself in a job, or really whatever, you run the risk of becoming lost... Didn't realize you were a fellow Ohioan. Anyway, I'm glad to hear you are back on track!
One step at a time Eric. I'm a firm believer in "plan your work and work your plan". I know by experience that it's not always easy to stick to that plan. But what you definitely need in your daily or weekly schedule is BALANCE! Taking your mind off work regularely is necessary to be productive. I know you guys in the US are pretty much strangers when it comes to paid leave, especially if you're an entrepreneur and self imployed but taking a few weeks off work every year is very important for your physical and mental health. Keep up the great work, I'll keep watching your videos.
Glad you are back, those headlights are SICK! The Type-R looks gorgeous! And you did really good with washing - they all look squeaky clean! And yes - I'm totally with you on depression. I ran myself into one last year with forcing weekly video releases on my channel on top of my full time job. It yielded channel growth, but I was burnt out entirely by November. To a point I wasn't even able to edit (despite I have a lot of raw footage). Only recently (about a month ago) I was able to resume editing, which takes a lot of time, as you know. I'm taking it slowly not forcing myself this time. So yes - breaks are important!
I'm sorry to hear you suffer with the same problems. Most people don't realize the effort that goes into making videos and promoting them on social media. Take your time and make the videos YOU want to make. The rest will follow. Good luck with your channel and thanks for the comment.
Fair play Eric. We all need a break. And I've always said that if you wake up not wanting to do your job, then it is definitely time for a break or a change, whatever it takes. We all need time to ourselves and for our families. Always love your videos
Eric (what ever your last name is) I’ve been in business before. I love your videos and your doing a great job with your videos. Take time off with your family is the best advice to give. I missed a lot of family time running my business. Wish i could have been at Jekyll island when you were there. We aren’t but 30 minutes away.
I think end of the day what really matters is you and loved ones of yours are being happy and satisfy . So take your time and be happy man. You deserve it. Everyone deserve it.
i know I'm a little late on this but it's good to see you're still around Eric. I always enjoy your videos and the invaluable info. Take care of yourself bro.
If only this was done yesterday I would have had a digital birthday cake! Lol. Time off is a must. I'm hoping to do a four day over Memorial Day weekend. I'm considered "essential" and haven't had any time off since Christmas/New Year's. Need time to stay home and recharge.
Sometimes you just have to stop and take inventory of yourself. Try going out to a lake or a stream and throwing out a line or two, and sit next to a cooler full of bottle water or Gatorade on ice. Sit back and relax.
Welcome back Eric ... Great video as always ... I did the same thing you did ... for the past 4 years I have been working every day , until March 13 when we went on lockdown and I was sent home from work I things very calm and I decided to have all this time off until reopen again .. Now I relize that I needed this time off I feel a lot better with myself now .... @ETCG1 !! :D
Go to forest... seriously. The wife and I traveled over new years to the amazing parks out west together for 2 weeks.... our first real vacation in 20 years. Good for both of us. I did not realize I needed it, but boy I did. You need never feel bad for taking g care of yourself.
I really didn't get the hate on the fairmont project. I looked forward to every single video about that car because of the prethora of amazing information. Keep up the great work Eric and take that break longer if you need to. I'm still binging the hell out of your videos 5 years after discovering this channel.
You can do weekly videos with monthly themes. First week or by weekly, 1st video series, second week or by weekly 2nd video series can change things up without having to upload more hours of content weekly.
Post driving videos while the quarantine thing is going on I personally love them. maybe make a comparison video between all of your performance cars 😉
Exactly, add a few 'lighter', easier to edit videos in between if you are worried about not being able to bring content. It will still be good quality.
Thanks for the update Eric. I’m sure you will find your new groove - but you may need to hang the gone fishin on the door for a little longer than two weeks. Take care we all will be fine
I have had a lifetime full of work, mid teens, through the service and then 35 years at an electric utility until health issues forced my retirement. Always appreciate your health and life is so very short and as you know flies by.
You might have missed the joke. I put it at the end of this video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_OfMvfFSztM.html BTW when I'm done with the GSR I plan to call it "Pearl". I'm also painting it pearl white.
Completely respect the hard work you've put in over the years Eric! Getting your work/life balance correct is all important. Much like you, I really like walking and hiking. It's really good exercise and pretty therapeutic for the mind too 👍
You work all your life for your "cake", but when you have it, you just can't pause for a while and eat it, or enjoy it. I can relate to that. IMO, pausing for some time and enjoying what one's have is the real prize. Thanks for sharing Eric, and today is my daughter's birthday!
man take your time..for me eric the car guy is the one who inspire me to car stuff 5 years ago i think it more than 5 years 7 maybe..i started to fix my car at home last year thanx to your inspiration man..you desirve to have break time..wish you have great break time man..
Welcome back from the UK. Your knowledge, wit, sense of humour, can-do attitude and general demeanour are very refreshing. I've learnt far more about Minis from US youtubers (including you) than anything from Europeans, i'm sad to say. Your knowledge and experience is incredibly valuable - and the efforts to record, edit and put this stuff on youtube is massively appreciated, we know how hard it is! On top of that you keep talking V8s, and lots of other good stuff - my rare 4.6IS X5 is about to get an exhaust bypass, designed and welded by myself :) In part encouraged by you!
Whenever I finish fixing someone’s car I tell them I hope I don’t see them for a long time. Trying to mean that there car stays working for awhile and I don’t need to fix it again soon. Don’t feel bad about taking a break for yourself, hardworking people need it too.
I agree with you 110 percent.....and it takes a big man to look to the inside for the problem...alot of ppl tend to look outward when the real issue is internal most of the time....my sustained happiness is up to my conscience mind to make the decisions to coincide with the manifestation of those feelings....
You have to run (not jog, run) 45 mins to burn off a large french fries. On the other hand, you could just not eat the large french fries and get the same effect. Yes, food control is far more effective than exercise, and once your body is used to fewer calories (it takes about 2 weeks), it's easier than you think, and the weight starts dropping fast after about 30 days.
Since you’ve started this channel you’ve pumping out great content (on top of ETCG) consistently a long time. Take all the time you need, Eric. I’ve been here for what, 10 years now? I’m not going anywhere
Welcome back ETCG. May the 4th be with you. Good to refresh to stay motivated! Big fan here in Phoenix AZ! No Nokian Hakkapeliittas needed here. Slowly restoring the Type R to pristine glory is great! I have a 2004 Accord V6 and love the pep (240 HP) in the J Series. Looking to get a 2008 Acura TL 3.5 L then a 2012-14 Acura TL 3.7 L with 305 HP. Some are going for under $10k which is manageable!
Eric, if you are keeping that Type-R, and you do like it, you know what I would do to it? take it apart and do a full resto-andsomelightmodding :D she diserves it! Including engine rebuild.
Welcome back, Eric. During the time you were off, I used some of your videos to help me rebuild the 300 six in my 1984 F150. Literally just got it back on the road on Saturday. Worked out well! And yes, When I went to paint the head and block, I also had a bunch of rust/scale fall out the water jackets at first, just like you saw when you went to paint your 350. Seems that hot tanks knock stuff loose but a lot still doesn't get flushed... par for the course.
One viewer commented that they pressure wash the block to get all of that out after it gets back from the machine shop. I plan to do that next time. Thanks for the comment and congratulations on your build. The 300 6 is a great engine.
