Meet Emma - my 2015 Rapid Red Yamaha R1!
Here is my review on initial ride performance on a pretty stock base model. Great overall bike and of course a deadly track weapon for the streets.
Any questions or comments shoot away!

minus the driving lights ,best looking bike. this is the mid version now, their is a 2016 one called the R1s same bike minus some exotic materials, Titanium rods, Magnesium engine covers etc and a quick shifter($199 bolt on accessory yamaha in shop)

great vid man, i enjoyed it...i just picked up a 2011 796 hypermotard and it has new michelins that offer soso grip at best so what im going to do is just get the pirelli front tire to bring back that confidence or maybe a bridgestone i havnt decided yet...and you really down play the off the charts type power this bike has...what did you hit like 10% throttle the entire video? haha that thing is be beyond faster than hell

Congrats on your new R1! I plan on getting one next year in blue though : ) Great review/vlog. Just ran into your channel +1 sub . Quick questions: how comfy is it around town? How you liking the LCD screen? Judging by the size of the back seat I'm assuming you could hardly fit anything in there right? Anything bad you could say about the bike?
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 9 лет назад
ElevatedRider i love the lcd screen soeially the start up/shut down. in town its tough since at low rpm it is a real slouch. not unbearable but it is a nuisance. the rear i was only able to fit my registration and house keys -_-. ergos will hurt - it eats gas like no other - PWR1 mode is bitching - but i love this thing!

Is it a DD/commuter? What kind of temperatures do you ride in? What kind of heat comes of the exhaust cat? What your weight, Did u dial the suspension? What is your feedback on the suspension (for the street)
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 8 лет назад
Yea this is my daily ride. Temps are manageable and the fans kick in around 190-200 because I have it flashed. Currently running the Hindle 3/4 system on it. I weigh 180 geared but the suspension is still stock. I would add in some preload though.

Great video man! i have a little question: how the bars are? i mean: i heard about some of my friends suffering for the bars because they are so closed and so angled. some of them has thought to change bars with ones more opend to strain less the wrists. what do you think about? (sorry for my english, i'm italian and i'm not so good) anyway very good video, very clear and well done!
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 9 лет назад
ratt14thebests the bars arent that bad as the seating position is very aggressive that it causes, in me, lower backaches after a stint of riding
@ratt14thebests
@ratt14thebests 9 лет назад
oh i understand perfectly. i've a er6n so a very comfortable bike but i rode a ducati 848 and probably it will be my next bike and i'll tell you: the tank will destroy your balls, so i understand what you mean for aggrassive position!! ahahah anyway thank you for the answer mate!
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 9 лет назад
ratt14thebests i have a review of my friend's 848 & 899 later on this season when im healed but let me tell you the ergos on the 899 vs the 848 is NIGHT and DAY!
@ratt14thebests
@ratt14thebests 9 лет назад
i imagine, because i sat on them both and i found panigale (1199) more comfortable than the 848. i also heard that the small panigale is more comfortable for street riding than the bigger one so i can easly understand what you mean :)
@mattwilcox8134
@mattwilcox8134 9 лет назад
Im gonna use it for track days and such but most of the miles will be on the streets. Like weekend runs with my buddies and the occasional commute to work. So how is it comfort wise? I know about the seat and Im not concerned because those are easy to change. Im between this and the S1000RR.

How is the bike on low power? 600ish? Do u believe its low enough to get used to the bikes power for a rider that has some experience?
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 9 лет назад
The lowest PWR setting is 4 which is like rain mode. Delivery is slow and very predictable but I would not say it's at a 600 power output level, it surely handles like a supersport bike for sure. Would I recommend to someone new or very little experience? I wouldn't personally but if you're bent on one just ride it with the utmost respect even with the amount of rider aids it provides.

+TheNoodleRacer I'm sure you are probably tired of asking these questions but none of my friends have sport bikes, they ride Harleys. I bought my first bike. A new 2014 model gsxr 600 in June. I have over 3000 miles on it already. I practice on it all the time( with respect, never anything crazy) I really never had any issues. I fell in love with the r1. Do you think I still have a lot to learn and maybe wait later next year, or should I be ready enough to get on it sooner? Thanks
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 9 лет назад
+trx450r38 the bikes nowadays are made easy to ride with their different power modes. just ride and get used to it and you should be fine but dont go ham fist throttle, get you in a pickle real quick.

I'm looking to buy a 2015 Yamaha R1 do you still own yours? How do you like it? Any issues? Should I be worried about the recall that was on them?
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 3 года назад
I actually sold this bike a few years ago. I loved it, honestly. A great bike! The only issues was the transmission recall, which I had performed when the recall rolled out. Other than that there was no other issues that came to mind. If you picked one up I think you'd be very happy with it.

200bhp? Cmon man... You know it's not putting 200hp to the wheel... Beautiful bike anyway... I was pretty close to getting one, but settled on an 08 zx10r.. Which puts about 165-170hp to the wheel... Plenty of bike for me.
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 9 лет назад
Joey Medina thats why it's measured in BHP - rear wheel hp is prob in the 165-175 range pending variables such as dyno/conditions on stock bike.
@zzrGUY12
@zzrGUY12 9 лет назад
Always thought the B in BHP was for brake... As in at the wheel. I could be wrong...
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 9 лет назад
Joey Medina the B is for brake hp which is measured at the crank - not the wheel - that is rear wheel hp.

Hey buddy need some help, can't figure it out i m looking for sport motorcyle like yeah yamaha R1 or R6 but has to be cheaper can you give me some suggestion
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 9 лет назад
first bike or seasoned rider? personally I'd suggest the R6, I've had three of them and there's a reason why: fantastic bike, loads of after market support (specially for road going race bits), and pretty damn reliable (in my experience). they can be had for cheap now specially the 06-07 gen I have had. new r1 as first bike is a different story and we all know how I feel about that towards the end of the video. hope that helps!

It's a far more aggressive riding position than any other bikes I have ridden but I do commutes to work on it time to time and that in itself is an hour each way, not too bad I must say.

would u get after market mirrors cause im hearing alot of people saying the mirror are shit
@theracingnoodle

the front signals are integrated so a swap without them would be more problematic. I don't mind the mirror at all and if they think these are bad they mustn't have ridden Italian bikes 😂😂

ahh well this will be my first ever owned liter bike since i have been driving my FZ6R for awhile. i have Test Ride the ducati 1199. only thing i didn't like was the dealership guy made me test ride the bike in Race mode when it was starting to rain haha
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 9 лет назад
+mafiahalo93 haha man kind of defeats having a rain mode .... for the rain. if its your first liter I just say ride with caution in mind. get used to the power in the B/C/D modes before you hit A, that mode still irks me a bit now and then. I have a review I progress on an 899 I rode and although fantastic track bikes, they suck bollocks for the rode. engine was great though and couldn't be more different than the xplane Yamaha, but you lose out on the rev range.

Hey for anyone looking at buying a bike and haven't ever had one before please don't listen to this guy or anyone else that tells you not to start out on a 1000/600 that's bullshit it really is there is no proven data that riding a 1000 is more dangerous that a 300 just because it has more power doesn't mean anything the way the new 1000s are they are more than likely the safest option over a 300 or 600 because if the traction control wheelie control and slide control only 1 or 2 600s offer a simple version of traction control and abs and nothing else I have been riding for years my first bike was a gsxr 1000 I race now and consistently do alright I'm only in the semi pro league but it just goes to show that you don't need to learn to corner on a 300 to be any good and just because something has more horse power doesn't mean it's any more dangerous what makes it more dangerous the fact you might spin out or pop a wheelie that's ludicrous no bike is any safer than any other bike I think a 1000 might be better than a 300 they are heavier so they're more stable they have more torque so you can power your way out of a situation the tires are far wider so you have more grip not to mention all the rider aids that come with most 1000s nowadays so don't listen to the bullshit I honestly think guys want to keep this Bullshit legend alive is because they want to feel superior to you and tell you that they can handle something you can't they have the skills necessary and you don't or the other reason is they were dumb enough to buy a 300 for there first bike so they feel the need to make other people make the same mistake they did unless your dream bike is a 300 don't buy one to start out with you will outgrow it in a month and do stupider things on it than you would on a 600/1000 because you will not have any respect for the 300 so trust me get your dream bike I don't care if it's a ninja H2 or a hayabusa please do yourself a huge favor and just get your dream bike whatever that might be just get frame sliders and a decent jacket and boots and you will be fine and if you don't believe me do some research on motorcycle wrecks and compare the different size motorcycles and there age and you will be very hard pressed to find any patterns at all if 1000s and other super sports were much more dangerous you would see a much higher number of wrecks involving those sort of bikes but you just don't at all and it's because it's nonsense you can lean everything you need to know to safety learn to ride a 1000 in a parking lot in an hour or so no problem trust me so many of these dudes that you think mean you well don't they want to belittle you and make you feel like you need to be Mark Marquez to ride a 1000 and you just don't need to be at all it's just not a tough thing to do at all it's so incredibly easy to learn to ride and another absolutely great reason to start off with your dream bike is to learn to control the power of you have the power from day one and it's the only bike you know you will learn so much better about all the ins and outs of that specific bike so if you don't wanna take my advice or want more proof that it's completely fine to start on any bike you want Facebook me and i will forward you around to some of the guys in my racing league that will have my back on this issue I have discussed it with many fellow riders and racers and 9 times out of ten they agree with me and the other time I convince them to see it my way it just makes me so pissed off when guys try to put down beginners by telling them they aren't good enough to start on a super sport when you absolutely are so please don't make the same mistakes as so many other guys do and take advice from guys just putting you down trust me get your dream bike whatever that might be and learn to ride on that go to a big empty parking lot or an abandoned subdivision and practice emergency breaking and emergency speeding off out the way and swerving out of the way of big holes or cars and you will be 100% fine and as long as you respect the bike and don't ride past your comfort level especially if you are with a big group of riders and they are showing off and stuff don't over extend yourself that's the quickest way to wreck you can always catch up trust me but please take my advice people and let's stop the stupid cycle of small bikes to start on just because they are "safer" when in reality they are not at all thanks sorry for such a long comment but it really gets to me
@theracingnoodle
@theracingnoodle 7 лет назад
John thanks for the lengthy feedback. I skimmed it and this is my thought: yea I am all for guys getting whatever bike they want to get, its their money, buy what you want. What I am conveying is riding skill. A smaller bike will teach you BETTER riding technique that a BIGGER bike does not. The problem with riders these day is they DO NOT learn the basics of proper riding technique. I am not even talking about track riding or racing here, but proper technique for every day in real life riding. If you cannot see the point of making guys ride SAFER for themselves in every day situation then I cannot perpetuate this conversation but do appreciate your point of view.
@jaybabe7767
@jaybabe7767 7 лет назад
TheNoodleRacer yeah but someone can learn to ride just as well on a 1000 as they could on a 300 I would even be willing to bet if you took two guys both riding the same amount of time one starting on a 300 and the other a 1000 and they were both on the same bike I would be surprised if there was any real difference a couple pounds and skinner tires doesn't make a better rider sure maybe he will be better at managing power and gear changes but on a 1000 it's a mute point because there is power everywhere for the road a 300 just isn't a good bike man maybe in a city but in a town no way get a bigger bike I don't get the big myth that 600-1000 super sports are so scary they are no different than any other bike just a bit faster in your opinion what's the point in starting out on a tiny bike what makes that safer like explain what makes it make you a better rider because it's lighter because it has less power I don't understand

Jamil Wilcox I have also ridden the '14 model 899 and the '13 model 1199S and although the Ducs are quality machine as in their track capabilities the twins left something to be desired that and the continuing reliability issues they have even though they have gotten a lot better since the 748 models over the years. to me the R1 was a great all around package and I have always been a fan of the XPlane crank - not to say the Duc aren't performers - they aren't slouches either.
