Wow, a successful businessman who pays his employees well and is dedicated to providing quality products and service. Best wishes for his continued success.
@@SC68170 Quit your bawling, I just paid $1.99 lb for name brand center cut pork chops, $2.19 for ground chuck, $1.49 pork steaks, and I'm paying a dollar less for gas than 14 years ago
I've been to numerous Buc-cees and the experience is like nothing else. The employees are incredibly friendly and welcoming, the entire store is spotless, the public rest rooms are terrific and the barbecue brisket sandwiches are to die for. Once you've been to a Buc-cees, it's close to impossible to see one and not stop there. Buc-cees is destined for world domination of the gas station industry.
Sounds like Buc-ee’s has figured it out- run your own company with an emphasis on customer service and treat your employees well. Wish them much success! Can’t wait to go to one myself.
Living here in Texas, I’ve watched this franchise grow from those early days to today. It took one stop at a store and I was hooked . Whether you need gas or just a restroom break , you can’t help but stop there just for the food and snacks for that road trip. With all that “square footage”, there’s more in that store than food and snacks !!! The owners are the “poster child” for what these highway road stops should be like. It’s a win-win for “Buc-ees”, hands down!!!!!
I don't understand why it's never located in any cities like Dallas, Frisco or Ft Worth. I have never been to one because they're all over an hour drive out on the highway
@@largol33t1 Houston has the little ones all over the town, but for the travel centers its about catching travel traffic. Also have the small ones I've seen around Lake Jackson and some of the smaller near by towns as well. I don't see many other "truck stops" in downtown Dallas for Ft. Worth either. Take a trip north out on 75..,East on 20.... South or north on 35 and you will see one. When I travel out East I usually stop at the one in Terrell along the way. About an hour or so from the house. Used to live right by that one. I go filled up there and headed toward San Antonio down 35 I'd see another one about the time I needed gas and a "pit stop". Worth it for a trip, but I'd not really go out of my way much. They are nice. Maybe they will open the "smaller ones" in town. They don't have the home goods, camping type stuff, or BBQ cooking stuff. Just snacks, drinks, and small kitchen as well as a regular number of pumps and clean bathrooms.
@@Danman1972 My favorite one b/w Houston and Austin is the one in Waller. Always make sure to stop there for a brisket sandwich/jerky/tehuacan sparkling water. Yes I know the water is random, but very few places carry it, and I honestly think its better than Topo Chico. I kinda wish he wouldn't expand outside Texas; kinda like it being something special about us, like Whataburger (which unfortunately is also not unique to us anymore).
It really hit me when he talked about not having to answer to shareholders and investors about cutting costs. It's so true. We love Buc-ee’s and we know we can always count on clean bathrooms, tasty food and unique finds in their stores. We’ll wait and drive 50-75 miles to go there vs. places along the way.
Stopping at a Buc-ee's on the highway is always a fun experience. The restrooms are always spotlessly clean. They have an incredible selection of food, snacks, and beverages. The employees are always friendly. This is a business model others should follow.
I’ve been a few times where the last person “forgets” to flush… sad truth is, these people don’t even care. Their home bathroom probably looks like a mudpit.
It truly is amazing! and you may not have to wait long because like they said at the end of the video they are expanding beyond the borders on the lone star state.
Never underestimate the power of cleanliness. Especially when it comes to restrooms, customers will go out of their way for a place that is comfortable and clean. That goes double for a world coming out of a pandemic. (And, yes, if you're a CEO who wants clean restrooms, you'll need to pay your employees enough to do a good job cleaning them.)
I took the time to thank the gentleman cleaning the bathroom at the Florence SC store yesterday. It makes a difference, a difference that I appreciate.
Yep a good rule of thumb is to NEVER eat at a restaurant with dirty bathrooms. If the bathroom is dirty you can guarantee their kitchen is filthy as well.
It's really nice to see a privately owned business still spending money and investing in quality service in service and food for its customers and for its employees. We live in a nation where everything is being cut back, made cheaper, giving people less for more money. This business is built on the ethics that built this country and gave us a first world quality economy.
Give me a break. These people are just big bullies. They are the Amazon of gas stations. They come in and get incentives and anything they want. They have highway locations but they take all the local customers too by undercutting on gas prices. Nobody can compete with them.
I was on a cross country trip visiting my oldest son & family down in Florida. ( I live in Oregon) I had my first experience at Buc-ee's just East of Dallas.(Terrell) I was blown away! I would definitely look for it on the road. It was the largest, and the best travel stop I have been to hands down!
You were in my neck of the woods. Terrell is about 25-30 minutes from me down 20. I am in Canton, where we boast another "large", First Monday Trade Days ("world's largest flea market"). I'm glad you enjoyed your visit with us!!
We moved from Texas to east Tennessee and we are ecstatic that Buc-ee's is now in our backyard. Everyone we've talked to that has been to one of the new ones here in TN has fallen in love and people are driving SPECIFICALLY to visit Buc-ee's. I hope they continue to expand and grow and have continued success.
We have two here in the state of georgia, and I can tell you, they are the most awesome place to stop when traveling, bar none. Absolutely love everything about bucees.
I applaud this company for treating their employees so well. Other companies should watch this and take note. If you pay a living wage and treat your employees with the utmost respect, you will be more successful. I would weigh a ton if I worked there though. My lunch break would last forever!
I've heard horror stories from workers from buckees - like they won't even let their employees sit down or take breaks. The pay is alright but there's a cult of move move move that can be toxic for the workplace
There’s no “labor shortage”, for working at a gas station, you’re paid competitive wages and not to mention full benefits like healthcare and retirement? Treat your employees well, give them a work life balance and maybe your staff retention will stay high. Congrats to the owners, wishing them much success on going national, can’t wait to stop by.
Yes! literally every time I read an article about some CEO complaining the supposed labor shortage in this country, I look up their yearly salary and it's always 1000x higher than the lowest employee. Of course no one wants to work for you greedy fools. They cut employee wages & give themselves raises so they can fund their next yacht or mansion. It's ridiculous
For Thanksgiving 2020, I flew into Houston then drove to western Louisiana to stay with family. During one conversation, my cousin mentioned Bucees and how clean their bathrooms were. I made it a point to check them out on my way back to Houston. I was NOT disappointed. Ever since, if I fly into Texas, I make it a point to stop at a Bucees. Love it!!! 😍
What's the big deal is what I thought before I went to one. It refreshing to see people care about customers and it's incredibly clean. Every thing is clean and orderly. I felt good after I visited and been back several times. It's all about the customer experience. Good business that deserves all the success in the world.
Living here in Central Texas, Buc-ee's has become part of our family experience whenever we hit the roads in Texas. if there was a Buc-ee's on the way back from a Scout camping trip we'd always stop for the kids to get Icees and candies and I'd always get those hot candied pecans and a fresh cup of coffee ☕ And about once a week or so my buddy from work will stop at the one in New Braunfels on his way into work to pick us both up a Hippo Breakfast Taco : ) God Bless Buc-ee's!!!!!!
It is so beautiful to see that a company has proven that paying a living wage to employees won't hurt profits at all... if you CEO and all the top execs don't need to make millions upon millions. And to do the whole thing with quality and even style. Bravo Buccees!!!
@@jeffpetrie7744 #1, $15/hr is the starting wage. If you've ever been to a Buc-ees you would have seen the ranges in pay. #2, The CEO of Buc-ees has created thousands of jobs, that isn't worth magnitudes more than entry level pay?
Love this place! Truly one of Texas’s shining gems and the best candied nuts you’ll ever buy! When I visit the one in Denton I buy at least 5 every time
I’ve never been to the one in Denton, but I have driven past it. I’ve been to the one in Madisonville, the one near Waco, and the one off Hwy 80. Their candied nuts are the best!
great video thank you for explaining texas culture to me. sincerely a girl that’s in a long distance relationship with someone in texas that spends time at bucees, thanks for providing them with the essentials. good video as always good morning sunday.
Great guy, very caring for everyone. I wish all business owners were like this guys. Not greedy and selfishness. Wish Bucees come to my state Minnesota
My only gripe concerns the customers who park at a gas pump and disappear into the store for an hour or two. Road trips mean being on the road, not waiting for a dozen people to load up with food and souveniers. Buy your gas which only takes a couple of minutes, move your vehicle, and then go inside.
We visited the one in Daytona beach. Definitely a unique experience. I live in Germany and had ten days holiday in Orlando. After seeing a RU-vid video, it was on our list to go. We were definitely not disappointed. Fantastic concept, lovely staff. Can’t wait to go back to America and maybe road trip other locations. The brisket was amazing. Forgot to use the bathroom we were so overwhelmed 😂
We have at least 2 Buck-ees being built here in TN as I type, between Nashville and Pigeon Forge/Sevierville on I-40. I can’t wait to check them out when they’re open.
This episode was filmed at the Buckys that’s just 10 miles from my house. I stopped there whenever I can for coffee it’s the best. A few weeks before it was due to open hurricane Harvey hit. They were not open for business yet but they opened up and fed for free all the first responders. Fireman policeman electrical workers you name it, it gave them a place to rest and get something to eat. I don’t even think the staff knew what to do but they were there for our community when we needed them. It’s so nice to see that Buc ee’s is expanding out to other states, I have a friend visiting from Tennessee and she said oh my gosh if we could only get a Buc-ee’s at home this place is the best… I hope they get one.
@@keithfreitas2983 I've never met a Jew who didn't like a nice brisket. The fact the owners care most about their employees and customers probably would also make Christ smile.
Thank GOD for employers like you! Too bad there is so much corporate greed in this country! We are glad we have YOU in this world!! I love going to Buc-ee's!!
Buc-ee's is a good example how a business should be run and it is a shame that so many other business don't have a clue how to run pay business. If this is the new generation how the corporate businesses are being run with this new generation of college students oh, we are headed downhill like a snowball. When Becky's is 20 to 30 cents cheaper on their fuel that tells you something about the other fuel stops. Greed is taking over.
There's a few companies like this, Costco, HEB, Chick-fil-A, Whataburger and a few others. Surprisingly alot of these high paying customer sevice corporations are in Texas. Which is odd because the states minimum wage is $7.75 an hour.
@@rogersmith7808 sorry for thinking that bad word. I was making $6.50 an hour in the mid-70s. Had plenty money gas was about 0.45 a gal. When yes went to 55 cents a gal. we thought it was outrageous. Surprise surprise 2022 almost $5 a gallon. Wages are the same almost. That's a disgrace. I think McDonald's employees make more than that. Some people think $20 an hour is way too much. We shouldn't even have to have a minimum wage the employer should $15 an hour at least to make tacos R burgers. But I'm sure that taco would cost 6 bucks easy. Rent was 300 for Apartments back then. Pretty soon the loaf of bread will cost $40 milk $70 all because the green deal. Which is not necessary. But they have to do something to bring the Constitution and this country down to its knees before they make everybody get the chip. I know many people are not going to get the chip, it is again the Constitution and choice.
@@leswalker2639 If you were making $6.40/hour in the 1970s you were making damn good money since the minimum wage then was less than half that. The current minimum wage hasn't changed since 2009 because rich people and corporations control the political system in this country and they don't want the minimum wage raised so now we're operating on a system where the wages that companies pay depend on the size of the labor force and how competitive they have to be to hire and keep employees. I personally don't mind paying 20 cents more for a Big Mac if that means McDonalds can pay their employees enough to live on.
I just saw this come up on RU-vid. I love Buc-ee’s! Been to a few in Texas and in FL and GA. Love!! I also have clothing and mugs etc with Buc-ee’s logo! Great food. Reasonable gas prices and no tractor trailers allowed in their locations.
Emphasis on No Tractor Trailers. Lol, oh boy the stereotypes never change. We're all just dirty, stinky, lazy, no good degenerates of society. It never changes. ..
@@williamtaylor8221 Good! Truckers attract Lot Lizards. They’re two peas in a pod. When the truck is a-rockin’ don’t come a knockin. Plus many truckers are BIG BOYS. Like a herd of wildebeest you can hear and smell them when they come through the door for their nightly feeding habits of Mountain Dew, Beef Jerky, Marlboro and Insulin.
They opened the first one outside of Texas near me (Loxley, Alabama). I’ve gone in on weekdays at midnight and there’s people in there happily buying all sorts of goodies. I obviously don’t know the financials, but based on number of customers I’d say the location has been a great success.
LOVE Buc-ee’s!!!! I derive round trip from California to Florida and intentionally stopped at their locations in Texas, Alabama and Florida. They all look just like this video, clean and organized with friendly folks and good food. This is the type of business that helped build America. Too bad the same model is so hard to find these days.
I live in California and went to my first Buc-ee's in Daytona Beach last November. Was visiting a friend in that area and he said "You have to see this place". First off it had like a hundred gas pumps - huge! Inside it was as big as a large supermarket with everything from souvenirs to clothes to BBQ to baked stuff. Plus the bathrooms put all those airport bathrooms to shame I had used on the trip back there. Wish we had them in CA.
I too wish we had buc-ees in Ca as well, but for some reason, I think the experience would be ruined here with all the entitled, whiny people here. I can already see an "activist" complaining about the exploitation of beavers.
I was worried you wouldn't mention the fresh chopped brisket sandwices Everytime you pass by you have to pick up the chopped brisket sandwich and BBQ sauce and a cup of fruit and large water for about $10 or so Love bucees New Braunfels
Visited my bff in San Antonio. She took me to BUCKEES. Omg. Everything was awesome. The coffee the salted caramel cashew. The brisket. Oh my. Way to many things to say good. I wish one would come to Boston, but I don’t see that happening. Can’t wait to go back in October
If you're traveling through Central Georgia, a new Buc-ee's just opened in Ft. Valley, Ga, (just south of Macon) Truly everything this video portrayed, and more. Best fuel prices of anywhere within 100 miles.
Just opened store #50 in Crossville TN not 2 weeks ago (27 June), first one in TN. Their biggest store yet is supposed to open in Sevierville in 2023. The first Buc-ees I visited was the one in Warner Robins GA.
I am from Texas and typically avoid Bucees just because the length of time needed to complete stopping there. Knowing that my purchase goes to the employees through a livable wage has changed my mind. I will donate a little more time knowing my money is being put to good use. Im not wearing any of their clothes though :)
I go all the time and I am in and out really fast. Unless I am not in a hurry and love walking around looking at things. There are 3 entrances and many checkout people to help. They have great salads, sandwiches and puddings. All fresh!!
There’s a special beauty is seeing a compassionate business thrive! So nice to have a new Buc-ees in the area. Some of my coworkers in healthcare are thinking of leaving the greedy healthcare industry to work at Buc-ees!
As a Texan, I just luv not only innovative caring important businesses here but watching stories of these unique & super successful family usinesses across the nation!! Thank you Sunday Morning!!!
I have a Buc-ee’s about 5 miles from my house, we go every weekend for gas and whatever we can find. The staff are always very friendly and customer service is #1! The product are unique and the food very tasty. My only issue is the Icee Machine, are always down bcz they can’t source the cups. Other than that, we always have a good time.
My family LOVES Buc-cees. We're from Minneapolis and my family is from Dallas so once or twice a year we fly or drive down. We never miss hitting Buc-cees on the way in AND way out. Even have t-shirts, toothbrush, dog toys. When I saw the sign outside the store with the employee wages on it I thought this company is doing it right. Didn't know it was just the 2 of them running the ship! Keep it moving, y'all!
❤️ we love Buc-ee’s! The wonderful smells when you walk in the door draw you in and entices you to look around. Not only do they have wonderful bathrooms, and great food, but they also have a wide selection of lovely goods. I so hope they build one in my area of Arkansas!
I'm from around the west part of Texas by the Midland Odessa area.lt was announced through the local media that a Buckeyes is going to be built but no announcement on the ground breaking at this time.
If you’ve never been to a Buccees, it’s an experience. Food, gas, clean restrooms and underpriced drinks…. I love Buccees. Hope they bring one to Utah soon!!
We were on a road trip to Texas in 2019 when we discovered Buc-ee’s. What a hoot. On a Florida road trip in 2021, Buc-ee’s was a planned part of the itinerary. Our excitement exploded when Buc-ee’s announced they had acquired land to open a location near the intersection of I-40 and I-85 in Orange County NC…about 10 miles from my house. Problems arose with the county commissioners of Orange County. It’s said that communism has been debunked pretty much worldwide except for Cuba, North Korea, China, Russia and Orange County NC. The zoning that was required to allow construction to begin was not allowed. The pol’s infinite wisdom cited noise, and the fact that fossil fuels were dying as a means to power transportation. (Not kidding…they actually said that). The Buc-ee’s folks tried everything to work with the commissioners, but their efforts were to no avail. The end came, and as the Buc-ee’s people left town without a deal, they wrote an open letter to the community. The best line was they were glad Orange County already had too many $15 per hour entry level jobs that they didn’t need any more. What a bunch of pinheads…but they were answering to their constituents. Hopefully there will be a friendlier spot for a Buc-ee’s somewhere in NC in the future.
Same reason I like going to Chick-Fil-A and In an Out. Foods always consistent, it's clean and they pay their employees above average for the industry.
We truly wish him all the success in the world. Seeing this was what ncrwdibly refreshing! To us, it seemed like the employees were genuinely happy working there which we believe translates to good, quality customer service. Would love to visit one of these stores.🎧
Like many, I've heard people raving about Buc-ee's for years now. Today, on a trip home from Houston to eastern Kansas where I live, I finally took the time to stop and take in the experience, at Madisonville TX. All I can say is, wow, it's all true. And judging from the crowd of people at each one (I stopped at another in Melissa TX later in the day), a lot of people must think so also. It makes me want to go back to Texas just to visit again!
My wife and I stopped by one in Alabama on our way through and we spent an hour there just walking around looking around and experiencing it. It’s a lot of fun. I suggest trying any of their yogurt covered pretzels, they’re pretty good.
@@Longhauler85 It's not that they hate truckers. It's just not a truck stop. It's not unusual for a business to not want 19-wheelers in their parking lots.
Congratulations to an owner who cares about both customers and employees! I've worked retail for years. I care about the job I do, the way our store looks....even though the company I work for could care less about me or my coworkers. We're waiting for Buc-ee's in Wisconsin. Where do I apply? 😃
This Bud-ee’s where they are filming is just 10 miles from my house…. There is so much that is great about it but the best is just a few weeks before it was due to open Hurricane Harvey hit, and hit hard. This Buc-ee’s was built right for our area, a flood zone. A very large and high pad. So when the hurricane hit and all the first responders were out trying to help people and save people Buc ee’s open the stores and fed all of them for free. They were able to park their vehicles get some rest and get something to eat all for free. They weren’t even open for business yet. Whenever I go to town I stop at Buckys and grab a coffee, it’s the best. Also if I need a wedding present real fast, a baby gift, a birthday gift, stuff for the beach, and a good lunch and much more , Buc-ee’s is your place.
What a great American company. Takes care of their employees and customers. Reminds me of another company - Costco. We need more companies like this. God bless him and he needs to come to California ASAP!
You cant go on a road trip in Texas without stopping at Buc-ees. When we head west out of Katy Texas we always stop and fill up the truck and our bellies and marvel at the worlds longest car wash. It's a true Texas Icon!
Morning. I'd Katy in east Texas? I worked at a logistics center for an Asian grocery store and they had a store in Katy, Texas. The store is named Hmart.
