So, I headed to Carmine Texas to see what this little town had to offer and was surprised by all the art work and hospitality of the locals.

In Carmine ( pronounced Carmean) deceased are buried below ground; however, many of the graves have covers which prevent weeds and the needs for continued maintenance. Keeps the cemetery near and tidy.

there was a lady in Carmine that made some of the best dried sausage. I miss that sausage. Big wigs came in and told her her equipment was out of date and could no long be used to produce her product. She couldn't afford the new stuff... so she closed. My dad always stopped on his way to Houston to bring that sausage. Mmmmm, what I wouldn't give to have some today. Sad.

Granite was never quarried in Carmine. The granite for the Galveston seawall was quarried near Marble Falls Tx. Granite at times fell off the train as it was going through Carmine.

Good stuff! One thing I'd be interested in, especially in these small towns, is the schools. I'm curious about Carmine: Is there an elementary, junior high, and high school? Such a small town. Maybe they have to go to a neighboring town for high school.

Yeah, I showed the high school in this episode maybe halfway in. I normally try to check out the high school, but never really the elementary and middle schools because of time limitation

Roundtop-Carmine isd has 1 Elementary school (in Roundtop) and 1 High School located in Carmine. Great teacher to student ratio.

Usually have to go to Louisiana to see cemeteries that are above ground

Usually if the graves are above ground, the water table is high in that area. Just like in Louisiana. Just love watching this. Keep it up.

Maybe, ask the people in town how they pronounce the City's name before you start talking. Residents are proud of their town and name.

I watch some people from other countries that want to come visit our country, but they are afraid to stay in our motels/hotels because of the bad rap they get in our movies. Don't remind them of movies to watch to get an even worse opinion of our communities. Surely there is some fun movie that has an old gas station in it.

My favorite genre is horror, so it's what I like to make reference to and just about every horror movie starts with a group of teenagers or 20 somethings stopping at a old gas station in a small town. I really do love it! Besides, the countries outside of the U.S. get a way worse rep about the things that can happened to you while staying at their hotels. This is a great question Becky. With it being the summer it's hard to gauge, but if I was to recommend one town that I know would look like the North Pole during the winter.... Columbus Texas all day. I mean, they even have a Santa Clause museum!
