My husband and I visited the warren last year! I personally spent many happy holidays here as a child staying at variously Holimarine, Dawlish Warren Holiday Centre, Oakcliff etc! I remember shopping in the little huts on the way to the beach, playing in the copper mine arcades, the hillbilly moonshine! We had family nights out in Dawlish Town, Teignmouth or meals in the Mount Pleasant Inn ! Brilliant times!!!!
Although I still love the place 25 years on, I do miss the small shops leading up to the beach and the proper markets they had in the big field. That was many many moons ago. Still one of my favourite places though
As a child I was a regular visitor to Dawlish Warren in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The little shops on the way to the beach were the best. The copper mine arcade playing My Darling Clementine was also part of the soundscape of my holidays. The hum of the go karts still sounds the same though. *memories*!
Went to Dawlish Warren earlier this year (2016) for the first time and loved it. This great little video brought back many happy memories. Thanks for posting.
When I lived in Exeter I used to take the short trip to the Warren quite often. When I returned after some years living abroad I thought it was a shame that all those little shops on the walkway leading to the beach from the railway tunnel had disappeared and had been replaced by a larger store.
Omg I love Dawlish me and my family have bean going there for years my nan went with her mum. My nan and my grandad toke my mum and when my mum was pregnant with me to they fult I was going to be born there. Anyway every October my hole family stays at the welcome in caravans we absolutely love it there the entertainment is amazing 10/10 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ definitely we have only ever whent to the welcome .
I went there last summer in the holidays for the first time with granny and gramps. I even made a new friend there who was from bristol. I really enjoyed my private challet, the pool, the night club which was right near my challet, the shops, the fun fair and especialy the park. I liked the beach but I only went once as it was a long way and my granny and gramps struggled to walk down the steps. I stayed for the week and I saw some beautiful sights and trains. we had to leave a day early though because the weather forecast said it would be bad weather the next day.
Aww! I want to go back! There were 17 of us there just weeks ago, ranging from great-grandmother down to the newest family member who was just a year old. We had an amazing time, and Hazelwood (in your video) was very, very good. Can't wait to go back next year. Thank you for the video - brought back great memories :)

I so love Dawlish. 25 years ago, I worked with Mark Price at the Welcome Park, to great applause! My wife and me, go back each year to see Mark and his WONDERFUL team!
Epsilon I can appreciate your point of view... honestly I can ...but I have to live in Wolverhampton for the other 50 weeks a year...now that is tedious and it isn't even beautiful!!! Hehe!!! 😉
Epsilon Hehe! I jest really..I bet it does get claustrophobic with hundreds of people milling about the place when you just want go to the shops ! To be honest I don't get to Dawlish much anymore though...but all my of my best childhood holidays were in the Warren...It does have a special place in my heart!
