There are millions of websites and applications that are endlessly evolving, many of which are operating on different systems and devices.
Most products aren’t creating static, cookie-cutter experiences. They’re creating complex universes of interconnected ones. Growing organizations need tools and processes that empower teams to scale consistent experiences. Many of them are turning to design systems as a potential solution.
In this lesson, we’ll:
- Learn what a design system is and what’s included in one;
- Explore the problems a design system can help solve;
- Help you identify when you need one;
- And highlight a few things to consider as you start your design systems journey.

Hey @figma, great content. But, the music running in loop is so distracting! Do we really need background music (read sound after a while) while listening to someone talk!? From an experience standpoint it's just uncessary processing of two diff sounds while trying to concenrate on what the presenter is talking. If its a minutes video, its fine to have background music (sound ) but on these lengthy ones it should not be included. It just conflicts with the presenters voice.

I'd rather listen to my own music to be completely honest.

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! We'll keep it in mind the next time we create another longer form video.

Was about to say the same! The loop is distracting indeed. Maybe because the music is a little too loud and maybe a bit too playful for using it as background music. I turned the audio off and subtitles on to keep my head at the subject.

Yeah actually a great point. No bg-music would be better. Good point!

@@breality7411 very true. i hope tutorials and vid essays etc. stop putting bg music in just to make a little bit 'fun'. i have my own music playing but have to turn it off for this musak. it's cool if it's a movie or a sfx, but not just because of trying to fill it in. most people have music playing, if they want it

@Figma The music on the background feels more like for sleeping and mind relaxing which ends up make us sleep. Maybe no music would be a better choice because we're not intended to sleep :)

Hey thanks for the great Intro to design system. It doesn't really bother me but there is spelling mistake on 13:36 "Exisiting design system", it should be "Existing design system".

Great educational content. Thank you for making it available! I must admit that for me, it would be easier to follow if the background music was absent or much quieter.

While I appreciate the content greatly, I'm finding the audio/voice delivery to be challenging to listen to; It comes across as overly scripted and robotic, and not enaging. The music can be removed too.

Can anyone that has watched the whole thing tell me if it's obsolete now with the introduction of variables? Is this a general design system tutorial or a specific building ds in figma ?
@TheMoki
@TheMoki 10 месяцев назад
I can't imagine them making an obsolete video a week before releasing the variables feature. Surely they would have thought of that.
@user-bt4uh9qq6s
@user-bt4uh9qq6s 8 месяцев назад
Not obsolete. Just general points about when and how to start a design system. No details, nothing nitty gritty or even specific to Figma only.

Frequently using the term "leadership" instead of "management" is a toxic narrative technique in my understanding.

could you please make this again, w/o music, and maybe make it more relevant. it seems like a very strange infomercial, or a corp training video. what's happening over there figma? it's like you've lost your passion

Is this TTS..? The voice sounds really… off and distracting. I struggle to imagine that none of Figma many employees could have narrated this instead. (In case it's an actual human, I'm sorry but it sounds really robotic and monotonous.)

I found the background music very aggravating. It was non-music, or at least music with no musical intelligence behind it. Why spend so much time on the visuals and so little time on the audio?
