When I first moved to dt FTL, just per-covid, I was looking for the best bbq in the area. I already had Tom Jenkins but I was looking for a "hole-in-the-wall" spot. Ended up back in Franklin Park at Big Boyz BBQ. As a white dude I got stared down so many times but I didn't give af. It wasn't like, "we're gonna eff you up" but more like "you lost honkey???" Hahahaha...BTW, the ribs are 🔥!

What is so disheartening about all these PJ stories is that this was done to our people on purpose. Redlining, steering, lack of access to gi bill post korea/vietnam, housing covenants and the absolue failure of the federal and state governments to pay attention to how people were breaking the law when it came to the fair housing act. No one should ever live in these kinds of conditions. No one should have to thrive or have a "do what we had to do" stories. They knew the trauma this could bring.
