They conducted themselves with class and respect. You can tell they ain’t got nothing to prove, a lotta mfs get on these hood vlogs and be acting out or displaying stupidity like there ain’t no good or hope in they hood. Salute and blessings to them and they hood and every other hood in the world 🙏🏾✊🏾
@@georgegoble6054 in a nice way and I mean it when I am saying it respectfully but we should have left them running the land and living off the land. Enslaved them with money and most weren't meant for being trapped up and working. Plus they also have a negative culture, just listen to their music and I do listen to it myself but I don't focus on the bad parts and when I do they have a whole nother meaning for me. I'd have to explain it deeply, but just put it that way, don't try to think too much with what I say if you don't understand what I am saying
@@ThePeacePlant so in other words you don’t like black people but benefit off our music and it’s hypes you lol typical behavior because some of these guys are a product of the trenches and I’m sure they wouldn’t want this type of life I can get you if they went to get a job most times they wouldn’t get hired based off the tattoos and the way they talk so hush your damn mouth
@8:50 I feel him when he said "You have to cook to survive and cook it like you want it taste" coming from a person that has an what I call a expensive pallet (Not money but Flavor) I feel that statement 💯%😋
I actually stumbled across this video. I know both of these young men and I must commend them for the manner they spoke during the entire video. They spoke about hope without sounding hopeless, the pitfalls of being/doing the wrong thing at the wrong place/time. Conveyed the significance of McKinley and its history, and how thriving the neighborhood used to be. I am a proud SBR resident, and there's nowhere else I don't think I would've preferred to grow up in! Great representation young brothers!😀
That having an accent and using slang does not mean they’re not intelligent. In addition, there are multiple types of intelligence. You can’t judge their intelligence by them “slaughtering the English language”. It is a mistake to do so. I’ve been friends with people like “them” where if you read an email or paper they wrote, you would think some dork with a pocket protector wrote it. Don’t judge a book by its cover.
@kingkendrick44 I love the 90s, too. I'm a 79 baby, but I grew up and matured. These guys look like they were born in the 2000's or maybe born in the late 90s, though.
@@esthertarango914well yeah cuz everything from these neighborhoods not ignorant are dumb ! I’ve met better people in them Hoods in BR then church houses ! Stfu
@@Jarome682 lmaooo these dudes in poverty there not the ones to make the change it has to start with the black leaders. Learn what you even saying cause you reek ignorance just from you're comment.
This one of the most real ones I seen. You can just tell they some real dudes. They wasn't trying to flex on put on a show they was just themselves showing they hood. Nothing but respect for these guys this who the youth should be looking up to in they hood.
yes lol some over videos be dam clown time . but these young men carry them selves with much respect . and aint going lie love the food from there so many great dishes with many different cultures mixed in
Blue hat man. I could see him doing big things. You can just feel that fire within him. Shirtless man. He’s an absolute joy, I could see him being a mentor to the youth.
These niggas did Baton Rouge a justice. They didn't make they city look as dangerous as it really is. They had enough sense to talk calmly and not be drunk. Shout out to them two dudes!
The guy in the blue hat needs to get his own RU-vid channel asap I feel he has a lot more to say and do that people will like and benefit from in some way or another.
These two dudes sound like they take care of people, I love seeing it! I grew up East BR and even though grandma kept bars on the windows and all doors triple locked, I never felt anything less than love!
Really sad to hear them speak about all the businesses shutting down and houses being abandoned over time. Happy for people who got out of the hood, but also wish those people would make money and then stay and make the community thrive. But these guys were really interesting, and loved hearing what they had to say. Especially hearing them talk about the school and childhood
I can’t disagree with that but I’m not mad at anyone leaving. To many times people try to stay in they hood and end up getting hit. Gotta stop all the violence if you wanna build a community back up.
The two young men speaking in the video seem like goodhearted dudes just stuck in their environment. it's unfortunate that people stay trapped in bleak circumstances. if only they could step outside of their hood, even. 10 minute ride can give a new/different perspective of life.
The problem is hood mentality, with the money alone in those gold teeth they could of gone to look for a job in other city. Dope dealers especially take trips outside of the hood all the time, because dope is cheaper elsewhere but instead they choose to stay in the hood and invest dope money to more dope or whatever you do for money without a job. Also you act like none of them have cars?
@@OTG_thaONE Yea, but you can still take your family with you when you move. I know because i moved out of hood too, man fuck the hood and all the endless beef that will literally never end.
Shout out to the young brothers doing the interview, You all did very well representing your town without all the slang. I really enjoyed this video, yall kept it real. Appreciate ya'll
That’s because black Americans in the south (south Florida isn’t the south!! & historically isn’t the south, only northern Florida is ours) are nice & majority of black Americans are in the south historically & present day
Ok. I am a white guy from Scotland who has never visited the USA. What would happen if I went down here and kicked it there for a day? I will supply beers and food etc.
S/o them really carried they self well on camera. Not glorifying shit, tryna seem tough but speaking on real history and experiences. My grandpa went to McKinley way from st.Gabriel cause it was the only black school back then.
This is so inspiring I want to come back and start a STEM summer program, sponsor some kids take them off the streets provide housing and teach them robotics, coding and web development, stocks n etc. start breakfast programs so they can come in and eat.
How is it going? The adults are a lost cause but maybe someone could educate their children to aim and strive for a better life that what they parents chosed
I'm 53 - grew up in Baton Rouge. Man some of these spots brought back GREAT times. Sno flakes (now closed :( ) , 4way barbershop, McKinley High, Washington St, etc. South Baton Rouge looks completely different now. Shout out to those brothers. Unscripted, knowledgeable & gave it to you raw and uncut.
Please lets pray? Father in the mighty name of Jesus .in your namesake, we ask that you overly bless baton rouge Louisiana . Bleed the blood of Jesus over the children's the youth and all the people. Let your grace and your mercy, turn things around for this city.of baton rouge Louisiana. Lord Jesus we ask you for a miracle in your namesake .in the precious mighty name of Jesus we pray amen.
Ever since I started watching these videos like a month ago I had no idea some of these environments/mentalities even existed. Thanks for showing us a first look at what goes on in America it seems like the unknown and unspoken part about this country's history. Much love.
@@georgegoble6054 Funny thing is if you tried to speak to some of the earliest speakers of English they wouldnt understand you. Americans ALL speak a form of fucked up English, you just assume yours is better because you were raised to be ignorant

Baton Rouge look like you really did step into a time capsule. No cap. North and south BR hood af. Cortana closed. Everything up and down florida blvd lookin raggedy from downtown all the way to denham everything look boarded up. Ain’t no development going on in the city. It look exactly the same as it did when I left in 2012. They just built a theatre by the mall of Louisiana and a shopping center on Perkins thats really it. BR really is a dead end city full of savages. A small city with big city crime statistics
@@anubisthacutest4752 I know it’s old af . That’s how far back u gotta go when we talkin bout new developement in the city. besides Perkins little shopping center there ain’t nothing new in BR
O g said yu fresh to death he got Jean's draws no shirt it's scary to see the small town love mom pop feel but underbelly sticks murders crack sales hustlers on fentanyl shit is trill dwn Baton rouge
theres neighbor hoods like this around every major city , their storys are the same, when the old people were young than ran businesses , with out fear of being robbed, but the last 20 years even the black owned businesses had to shut down, due to robberies or people being murderd for no reason, this is the reasons why black neighbor businesses cant survive , with 90% of mothers trying to raise kids by their selve,s , kids that are raised in the hood either have to be good in sports to make it out, or if they cant play sports they resort to dealing drugs and that activity leads to killing or being killed, so its really hard just to say DO SOMETHING, begins with the people in the hood
When you said some of us gotta be home by 9pm, it had me thinking about the scene from Don't Be A Menace where the dude wasn't allowed to leave the porch and said "Let's hold the porch down." ☺️
Wow this is hometown I moved from Baton Rouge to Houston tx in 2013 I miss home there’s nothing like it, so many intelligent and articulate gangsters. These kids in Houston want to be thugs so bad. We didn’t ask to be put here, if we had a choice we wouldn’t be in the streets. I am now about to graduate college with a degree in engineering. There’s always hope
Ol boy said “ we be beefing, go up in the club and we stick together and once we come out the club we go right back to beefing” that that ignorant hood logic. Listen playboy. If you can turn it off and on like that. Why not just turn it off and leave it off.
@@southbound141 im Not arguing with you my boy. It’s a way of life though. It’s lives that have been lost. It’s hard to tell someone who lost someone close to not want to retaliate. That’s all I’m saying.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching these young men speak. They are very intelligent men who you can tell we’re raised with good role models in what was a tough environment for them. I love how they weren’t trying to flex or be extra hard for the camera. They were simply walking around and talking about their neighborhood. They came across as very real and genuine. The only difference between them and someone else who grew up in a more affluent area isn’t talent or intelligence because they have that but opportunity. They’re still very very young and I wish them nothing but success in their future and hope they can can our that environment and move to greater things.
@@michaels4640 was that supposed to be an “intelligent” reply? 🤣 Stop simping for this trash. These people need to be ostracized from society just like their whyte counterparts in the trailer parks that EVERYONE makes fun of and stays away from. But because of their demo you have to pat them on the head and pretend they are something other than what they are.
Just the happiness in they voice with a little of nothing they talk highly of each other very real … and what I always love about the south they have so much manners for they people & elderly people much respect to these young kings ♥️🙏🏾
I’m so proud of them for representing us in a positive way as well and although I’m not from that hood. I definitely know my way around it. They spoke the truth about everything. I miss Snowflakes too.
Most black cities in the US is dilapidated??? Then it becomes gentrified. This isn’t due just to violence. Some was well kept areas that became drug infested. It’s happening all across the US. Something to think about.🧐
We need more speakers and leaders like these young men . I’m from there and everything the spoken on was true . I hope they become speakers and try to save our youth coming up. I’m praying for my City!!!! Love !! Peace!!! Happiness!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
This is by far the best episode it's not full of chaos. You can tell these dudes care about the youth having to grow up with nothing in the neighborhood. Maybe someday one of these rappers that blow up around there will put those millions back into where they came from
@@domainjohnson7401 It's quite obvious he wasn't comparing the two. He stated that he lived in oak cliff, and he thought Baton Rouge looked like Central America which is just that. Countries like Guatemala and Nicaragua are in Central America.
I could kick it with these dudes for sure! There down to earth and aren’t trying to be something they aren’t. Much respect for these dudes. They might not be perfect but you can tell they have pride when they represent their community. SBR Legends!!!
I love being from louisiana so much🥺❤️ my best memories are from me growing up in Baton rouge and it really sucks seeing how it looks now compared to when i was growing up😔 if i was a millionaire id build my city back up no questions asked 💯 our city too beautiful we gotta do better
I was there a week before Xmas, some places have developed a lot and look quite beautiful. It’s mostly the hood that have run down. For the most part suburbs look great and more metropolitan.
@Michael Martin how is it a lie goofy. Howard university in the middle of the hood. Southern university in the middle of the hood. University of Miami in the middle of the hood. I’m from Chicago and we got a college in dro city one of the worst hoods in AMERICA. University of Houston, TSU, university of Memphis, USC, etc. All colleges that are in the HOOD. USC is in the middle of fruit town
I moved to South Baton rouge and lived in a sober living house and as a middle aged white man I was never scared or messed with by people in the hood loved living there.
Nothing like Baton Rouge! I miss them McKinley Days. I was there with Lee Banks and Tyrus Thomas. That’s where I met my wife. The good ol days. Shoutout to Mr. Brown and Mr. Huggins! 💯
Baton Rouge city very poverty shrunken the state of Louisiana you deep in the south nothing but poverty them boyz ain’t lying it ain’t really nothing down there but the streets unless you rap or play sports
life is what you make it. if you're a product of your environment, and stay in that environment, you will end up like everyone else in that environment.
It's such a high bar for us lowly Caucasians to live up to and try to emulate within our much poorer civility and craven lifestyles of the white community. But it is a goal that all white people should embrace and attempt to emulate so that there would be peace and harmony with those in the superior black community. I think this would be a wonderful opportunity to pause for a moment and give thanks for the great contributions of the black community to our society. Their peaceful and generous nature makes them ideal neighbors, lending testimony to their exceptional family values and parenting skills unrivaled by any other culture. Their child-rearing practices and skills mixed with their unparalleled work ethic are second to none. Their rational and logical thought toward circumstances coupled with their innate capability to de-escalate situations is to be envied and coveted. Their commitment to academic excellence enriches our schools and serves as an example to all who hope to achieve prominence as a people. Real estate values are fueled by the mix of African-Americans into an area due to their caring and respectful nature of these communities, an example of all they have achieved through their enthusiasm for self-improvement, hard work and a self-reliant nature. Without their industrious and creative drive, we would be poorer as a nation.
I love Baton Rouge and my home town the city of New Orleans Louisiana...it just hurt me to see all the gun violence going on today... 😱Yah help us....!!!! 😢 🙏🙏
I’m a Baton Rouge, Louisiana Native and I’m so glad they made a documentary about my city. University Terrace McKinley Middle Magnet BRMHS BRCC Graduate 🎉 2015, 2018, and 2021 🎉🎉🎉
Thing that stands out about these guys is that they ain't trying to act hard like most other hoods. They seem humble, friendly and down to earth. They said they're trying to get out of the hood, so it's not like they're trying to glorify hood life.
Damn blue hat fine as hell. I hope he makes it out. I hope they both do. This the first “hood vlog” I’ve watched in full cuz the ignorance be too much, but this one was refreshing.
I'm from Baton Rouge and I moved to Texas for the money and I'm here to tell you that I be Craving Piccadilly. When I come back, go straight there. l and get a plate. Love my city ❤️
Jim crow and redlining... government destroyed these communities and left them 2 fight over the scraps. And that's not just America it's a global black problem
they did a really good job touring & providing info.. i’m from south baton rouge & everything they said was 100% accurate. it’s crazy how bad it looks down there now. everybody grew up & left because like he said.. you wanted to get out the hood not try to get in.. we really need to buy our hood back 😢
