Welcome back to my journey through mystical Algeria!
In this video, I visited the ancient Petroglyphs from the Neolithic era, located about 11 miles south of the town of Taghit.
These petroglyphs are believed to be some of the oldest rock art found in the Sahara, dating back almost 20,000 years.
As I arrived to the entrance I had the opportunity to meet Yahea, a deaf man who makes a living by selling hand made sand drawings.
I spent the whole day exploring this amazing site, and it was truly a once in a lifetime experience.
The sad part of the experience was the damage caused by some ignorant people destroying those ancient arts with their names writing over it.
As I was leaving, Yahea and his brother presented me with gifts they had made for me. They gave me a small sand drawing of my name in Arabic and a hand made bracelet made of desert copper.
I was so touched by their gesture, and I was grateful for the opportunity to meet them.
Stay tuned for the next part of my journey in Taghit.
