If Ryan can watch a show he's not in for the fans, you can too, Michael. 😂 We really want to see you see the whole series and get your opinion of the things you left before. It will be awesome!
S4 was definitely a mixed bag but having Lois Lane show up was a lot of fun! Like Tom said Lois/Erica was a breath of fresh air. Seeing the early dynamics between Tom and Erica bring these iconic characters to life was the best. Also- major kudos to Tom for being the man of the people, he gets the show. I just wish we could hear more from him. Love ya Tom ❤
I really appreciate how introspective he is, all the BTS details and in depth character assessment. And he offers real critiques (mostly) and isn't negative for lack of understanding..even on rare occasions when he misses vital scenes (lol like they still don't get how the dad in Blank accidentally shot his son? Lmao guess Bryce doesn't read these comments to the guys!)...would be awesome for him to lead the discussion sometimes!
The Patreons are going to be the most positive, enthusiastic fans. So, their high scores didn't surprise me. And, Tom is like a happy golden retriever, lol. I'm glad you enjoy Lois. She is just a bit too high-energy for me, but I appreciate hearing different perspectives and hope you have a nice day.
@@blackdogbrown Perfect for you. Obnoxious and cheesy to me. Glad you enjoyed S4, it's just not for everyone. It's the biggest tone change of the series and probably the most polarizing season of Smallville, just check chat forums. I'm just saying that Patreons don't speak for all fans.
@bnew5905 1) She's perfect for a lot of the fanbase. Literally since the moment she came on. The fact that fans still love her to this day speaks volumes. 2) Who said I loved Season 4? I didn't say that at all.
EXCITED FOR SEASON FIVE TO START ON JULY 17TH, 2024! THANK YOU for all the hard work and CONGRATULATIONS on completing the first four fantastic seasons! Happy with the results of The Talkies! Wishing Tom, Michael, Ryan, Bryce, Jason & the entire TALK VILLE team the very best of luck with the shinning splendid super stellar sensational fifth season! SMALLVILLE FOREVER! Best Wishes, Fatima
Them having to watch all of this has to been work I binge-watch at a few months ago and trying again and it is hard to watch it now I like some but now all
Best part of Season 4 was seeing Erica Durance, she gave Clark/Tom life. What a joy and awesome character... and Erica is just lovely! I loved the fun she and Tom had.
I just finished her next series Saving Hope (Canadian medical-drama) and it just confirmed what a wonderful nuanced actress she is! S4 kept putting Lois in crazy situations but Erica played her so grounded that it ended up really working, where it would have come off super campy if anyone else performed
@talon3684 omg yes. and very impressive that she truly got the essence of the character. Erica has said that she didn't know too much about Lois prior to her taking the role maybe that was what gave her an advantage over all the other portrayals b/c this is really the only Lois who was PERFECT for Clark, for Superman, and for the show (I grew up w Margo Kidder's, but even her Lois was shitty to Clark til she started to think he was Superman). this is the 1st time I've seen any Lois really be able to embody the spirt that OG comics had intended for her character. And to the writers' credit, Lois was an independent character. they weren't able to write Lana that way, but for Lois they allowed for layered and nuanced personal growth. and seriously I was so impressed how they wrote their relationship (lol not the waiting 5 freaking years part!) but think about that Clark is able to become Superman once their love is affirmed (trying not to spoil lol). again, never seen that b4 or since w any other Lois. was just freaking magical lol
Erica Durance would've won so many Talkies had she been included in more categories and if there were others: 1. Best Guest Star 2. Funniest Scene - the whole opening sequence when she finds Clark naked in the field and takes him to hospital TIED with Lois in the Kents' shower with Clark 3. Cutest Moment - the dunk tank interaction between Lois & Clark
One of my favorite parts of this podcast is getting to find out how much of us as fans had the same experiences through this show. For example, the character of Alicia and her death were tremendously impactful this season. Love this community!
Season 4 was very hit or miss but being introduced to Lois Lane and Erica’s amazing performance was worth it all. Can’t wait for s5 and Brainiac! It’s probably one of my favorite seasons after 9 & 10
I just realized we didnt see Jensen come on! Omg. I hope he has time for a bonus episode ❤ I always hear him talk about supernatural, it would be cool to hear him talk about Smallville
"I always hear him talking about Supernatural" .. Well, it was a huge part of his life for 15 years, and his panels involve the show with the rest of the cast. So yeah. However, when he's asked about Smallville (rarely) he does talk about it.
I always think that the person who came up with this podcast was Michael, by elimination. Tom had burned out, Ryan didn't know the show, Bryce already knew Michael from the other podcast and he wouldn't want any more without any guarantee of profit! It's not our fault that Michael's thinking is erratic and he didn't realize that this would involve watching EVERY episode! Now I want to go all the way and obviously we need them for that!
And now that we finally have Lois, I seriously CAN'T WAIT for them to get together🤗 like I almost wanna say let's skip ahead! 😅 or at least can we double up on some? It's gonna be 2 full years b4 we get to S9 in the podcast, I already am ready to burst lolol
@chiamakaibeabuchi5574 im kinda surprised they don't do a double-up of some ep. there's a handful that they knew going in were gonna be lower-rose ratings in a row, they should be grouped together. AND there's a handful of high quality, also in a row, that would benefit from discussing the BTS in a 2-hour podcast for example. eps if Michael is already warning us that he doesn't wanna stick around after Lex leaves (specifically if he isn't getting paid enough to) then yeah, we should double up on at the least S6/S7 to keep his interest higher now. cuz who knows what's gonna happen 2 yrs from now if he is gonna wanna continue to put in the effort if/when he's not making any more money then than now. and tbh, it's likely he'll make less cuz he keeps turning pple off w his negativity and stealing attention away from Tom and even from Ryan. idk 🤷♀️
It's criminal that Jensen still was in the opening credits even though he pretty much left the show save for a few guest apprearances and Erica stayed as a guest even though she was in more episodes.
Great job guys!! Maybe my favorite podcast so far!! I started watching Smallville about two and a half years ago because I was going thru a very rough patch. My wife of 38 years had just passed away and Covid was raging again and everything was shut down. As a longtime comic book fan (more Marvel than DC) I decided to give Smallville a chance. I watched some highlights and decided to start with Season 4 because this lovely young woman portraying Lois had caught my attention. Needless to say within a few weeks Erica had won my heart and soul and I could literally feel myself healing. I loved so much about the show - the different take on Lex, John Glover stealing scenes, the goodness of the Kent family. I loved how character was more important than stunts or sci fi and obviously I loved sassy, fearless, gorgeous Lois Lane!! Smallville did so much for me during a time when I needed some help and I will forever be grateful.
Sarah Carter, Kyle Gallner, Jane Seymour and Margot Kidder were all great guest stars. All adding so much to this season. Alicia was probably my favorite. Her death was very impactful and heartbreaking.
@nickhydier1201 I agree ☝️ Jensen Ackles and Jane Seymour were great additions to the show as well. I do hope they both come on the podcast in a special segment. That would be awesome 👏 Jensen is super busy these days so I don’t know life he’d have the time and Jane is probably busy as well but who knows. ❤️❤️🙏 Season 4 was great I thought. Matured a lot since earlier seasons. ❤️🙏
@@ericbauthor I liked her but Jensen stood out more for me IMO. There was a deleted scene between her and Jason in 4x12 "Pariah." It was at the stables where he told her to stay away from Lana. The scene felt very Dean Winchester like. :)
Despite being a devoted Superman fan, I’ve only just started watching the show earlier this year and ever since I have been watching it religiously every week to every day and I’m so glad that I’ve managed to catch up to Season 5 on Talkville! This show just has such a warm feeling whenever I get home after College and turn on Amazon Prime
I wish to thank you all, the actors, the writers, the directors, the music composer, the producers, the crew, and all the people involved in the production for letting us dream with Smallville. Comforting, joyful, smiling faces, with action, a bit of philosophy sometimes, and tender and funny moments. Everything is done so cared for and passionate that it seems real! With the work of you all, what you created is amazing magic! It is also really nice to appreciate you all and your guests as lovely persons in these podcasts, where you enjoy and laugh as we do, and also sometimes share deep thoughts and issues of your personal life, which is comforting because they're similar to my and anyone issues, so thank you again. A small note: the various plots do not solve all logical details, they are simple, more fantasy than science fiction; I think this is accepted by the audience because it derives from the world of comics that for space reasons cannot dwell on much details. Furthermore, the fact that it's fantasy-based is good, it enables to create multiple stories, and I think the audience knows and appreciates that. You all take care, lots of luck, lots of love! Greetings from Italy.
I belong to the group of people who really enjoyed seasons 8 to 10 (not every single episode, though ). So, I hope you'll continue the podcast until the end! ☺️ I always eagerly await Wednesday night 10 PM (Korea time) for my weekly dose of Smallville!
I’m part of that group. Seasons 8, 9 and 10 are my favorites.😃 Whenever I do a series rewatch, those are the 3 seasons that I always watch. I love the Lois and Clark dynamic and I love Tess. Cassidy Freeman was like a breath of fresh air.😊
I really don't understand why so many fans think the show declined so badly after Michael left? I mean, it's not like S7 was that great, in fact, after S6 it's my least favourite season. We all missed him as Lex, but the full focus was now left on Clark and to see him complete the final leg of his journey into becoming Superman. Seeing Clark become an adult, starting work at the Daily Planet and actively accepting his destiny, not to mention his growing relationship with Lois which was far more mature and on a level playing field more than he ever had with Lana. S8 was a fantastic season minus three episodes. Those being Power and Requiem with Lana's final return and exit and the washout of a finale that was Doomsday. But otherwise, it was a step in the right direction. As much as I love him, I really think Michael needs to realise that the show wasn't just great because of him and that he made the decision to leave on his own. Just because he isn't in S8-10 apart from the Finale doesn't mean he can't watch and enjoy the rest of the show, at least for his best buddy? In fact, because of it's more mature nature I would think that Michael would appreciate it better? Tom carried it on his shoulders especially in S9 and S10 and deserves more credit than he's been given.
@@LivstevMotherEarth Because all the best writers and directors left, other members of the classic crew left, half the cast left and the CW cut the majority of the budget, same as they did with Gilmore Girls, which is why they were always shooting on the exact same street of the exact same set and they stopped using locations for the most part. While the writing became very cheap and way more of a CW meets Lois and Clark show. And let's not even talk about the lighting and photography, which were straight out of a Daytime soap. There's a MASSIVE gap between the first 7 seasons and the last 3. Particularly with season 9 and 10.
I definitely belong to the camp of folks who really dug seasons 8 through 10. I do agree that the budget clearly was slashed (normal for any long running show), but I feel like the show just got yet another creative jump-start, as Clark was propelled even further towards both his superhero and romantic destinies. No more Lana drama (for the most part lol), no more secrets and lies around her and Lex; we finally get Clark to a happier place in his life, and him becoming more proactive as a hero, and the show itself m, despite budgetary limitations, really embraced being a comic book show. And of course Erica Durance just really blossomed as a main lead. The 8-10 era is special IMO.
This was a great recap of season 4, love the Talkies awards, and all the wonderful guests! ❤ Thank you so much for doing this podcast Tom, Michael, Ryan, and Bryce. We all appreciate it so much! Michael, I still can't believe you thought Smallville was in reference to Clark's weiner. What?! LOL. That's Lois' nickname for Clark (the person) throughout the series. Clark Jr. was Lois' nickname for Clark's super Weiner...and yes, she was impressed. Full stop. I cannot wait for the season 5 episodes starting July 17th! I always look forward to Talk Ville, and I appreciate the honesty and humor you incorporate into the podcast. I sincerely hope I can meet you all at a Con sometime, you are all good people in my book.❤
I don't understand why the smallville series wasn't revived in a new one with you the same as it was!!! it would be a success you are all still young perfect for a new season!!!!!
🌹🌹Farewell S4! what a wild ride! Had its ups/downs, but fitting end to four years of Clark's self discovery...now a fresh new chapter begins! so excited for S5 🤗 Personal highlights: -all about foreshadowing! themes of growing up, taking accountability, accepting that life isn't about absolutes manifested as the overall narrative plot, even though initially the stones of power was to be the main thread it still worked out to turn the stones into just a plot device, which allowed more time to explore character development and planting seeds for Clark's destiny. -introduction of Lois Lane! amazing chemistry between everyone she interacts with. Really appreciate that they didn't force a lighting strike love at first sight on Clark/Lois despite an initial attraction, and they are taking time to showcase her personal growth journey over the course of the series. She's fiercely loyal and supportive, and isn't afraid to admit when she's wrong, which turns out not to happen too often. Immensely enjoyed the banter and teasing, allowing for a deeper more meaningful relationship. -Clark embraces the journey to his destiny! great leaps forward in knowing himself and his abilities. Starting to see and accept the true nature of the people around him, to let go of fear based motivation. Also the beginning of Jor El training, even though interrupted (many times over the series). every episode was perfect metaphor for the life-lessons Clark needed to learn to move towards adulthood - or at least had elements, even if not always executed perfectly ehem Spell. -Lex begins to embrace his dark side. He spent S1-3 denying it, fighting his tendencies but now he is starting to believe the darkness is a strength and an asset for him. Beautiful juxtaposition of Clark letting go of adolescence and taking accountability as Lex becomes more narcissistic, relying on excuses for his actions. His destiny isn't fully set yet but he's on the way. -Lionel's role in Clark's destiny got a major bump up, not just a complicated villain anymore. so glad they included him more as his scenes enhance every story and is more enjoyable w each re-watch. - Chloe took a much deserved back-burner, which allowed for her evolution to begin. She finally starts to inch away from her romantic obsession and moves towards becoming a true friend and supportive character. While still backsliding, this is where her character's redemption arc initiates and we see she will start to earn her place in the series. ❤️ Despite inconsistencies, and constant change of direction, this season was very fun and enjoyable! Brilliant performance growth, special VFX improvements, and critical building blocks for the rest of the series 👏
Season 4 was definitely hit and miss, I of course loved Erica coming in as Lois Lane. The 3 stones of power arc was good at times as well, then some silly episodes also. Thanks for doing the Podcast Michael and Tom looking forward to seeing Season 5 with you all in July. Always hold onto smallville.
Come on guys. I love Michael but don’t promise you’ll do the seasons without than keep going back on it when some people here including myself pay a lot of our hard earned money to support the show. I think a big portion of the audience wants Michael to see the show without him. Frankly most of season 8 is about him without him even being there. Ultimately do what you have to do but when you say stuff like that it’s pretty deflating to those of us supporting the show and paying to do so.
Looking forward to SEASON 5. And Michael, you have to be there. Whoever suggest anything different, they don't matter. LMAO! You ALL did a great job with a, questionable season. Season 5 is supposed to be a great comeback. So we only have good/GREAT things in the future. (Season 5 is good/great, but sush) LOL. Thanks again for the GREAT Podcasts, Gentlemen.

Yeah Rosey, don't make any plans to leave like you did during the Smallville series. Smallville was rough without you and this podcast would be too. So settle in and like it, you're sticking around for the full duration guy.
@@cherylebbs2079 Haha! In my gut, I believe he'll stay for all 10 seasons. He likes the show, we like the show, and with the guys around him contributing to this, he'll finish what he started.
@@talon3684 you might be right. That is, if he reads any of the comments, especially on RU-vid, which is one of the three platforms that broadcasts the podcast. There is quite a bit of unhappy fans on Reddit too.

Until July 17th The Return Thanks for Every Wednesday Highlight Season 4 can't wait for Season 5 Much Love and Respect Tom Michael Ryan and Bryce ❤️💙🌹🌹🌹🤘
Man I miss Tom welling micheal roseanbaum kirsten Erica John snyder etc.Im like 38 and a busy person and still think about these people who brought me so much joy watching Smallville.
Okay. I absolutely adore Smallville, and Seasons 8 - 10 are my favorite seasons. So, I'm asking way in advance...please, please don't ruin it for me. If Erica can come on as a co-host sometimes, that would be awesome too! I will find a way to afford Patreon and encourage ALL my friends to join too. I'm deadly serious. But I swear Michael, If you bomb and go off on every single thing in every episode during seasons 8 - 10 (there are a few episodes that bothered me, don't get me wrong) just because Lex isn't in it, I will not only scream internally, but...but ...I will post my Smallville Funko Pop Lois and Clark dolls in very compromising positions on my social media platforms. LOL. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design and I'm great with crafts. I - I even made my Lois doll a little Clark Kent football jersey. If you see certain episodes in seasons 8 - 10, you will know what I'm talking about. LOL. I WILL do it - don't try me! 🤨 😂 🤣. Anyway, I'll post another comment after I watch past the first few minutes of the podcast. LOL P.S. My apologies, especially to Tom. I'm joking, I mean no disrespect at all. I love Clark and Lois. I just...couldn't help myself. I really needed a laugh today. 😅❤
Except for those Lana episodes in season 8, Seasons 8, 9 and 10 are my favorites, too. I’ll unsubscribe by then because his complaints and narcissism have taken a toll. I have to bail so that I don’t hear those seasons get crapped on.
@@oldhollywoodfan8009 I agree about the final Lana Arc...I know Kristin had a contract to fulfill, and I think she's wonderful, but it could've been written differently. I think that's what got me started on researching Smallville fanfiction. If it's well written, it's awesome. I love watching Talk Ville, and I don't want to give up on it. I especially like Tom being in it, and his take on things. But if they rip apart my favorite episodes in seasons 8 - 10, it will break my heart. 😢
@@misfitrosetarot She’s such a lovely woman and wonderful actress. I would have been totally fine with those episodes IF they didn’t write Clark the way they did, especially how he crawled to her when she was in the kryptonite skin.🤦♀️🤦🤦♂️ All of that progress and momentum with Lois went right out the door. Because of that, I skip those 4 eps when I rewatch the season.
@@oldhollywoodfan8009 Clark was lucky he didn't die in the scene you're talking about...all that concentrated green Kryptonite exposure to his head and body. Yikes. But, when I think about it, it was a way for their relationship to come full-circle...at the beginning, Clark couldn't be near Lana without pain and stumbling around due to her Kryptonite necklace. Then, at the end of their loooong rollercoaster arc, Clark couldn't be near Lana due to the Kryptonite suit. But after that, Clark could've went off to move heaven and earth to find a way to be with her, but he didn't. He didn't even talk about her much, if at all. It was as if he used the aftermath of that ending to finally let go and heal. Despite all that, Lois was not Clark's second choice. It's like saying that the person I was meant to be with and married was my second choice, just because I dated people and fell in love with an ex before I met and fell in love with my hubby. Anyway - I'll stop rambling like Lois and shut up now. LOL 😅🩷
Thanks guys for another fun season of Talkville! 😀 Its been great hearing your insights, stories behind the scenes, and hearing from great guests! Overall, season 4 isn't my favorite season, but it was at the least still fun for me. Even though its has its downs, it also has some iconic moments of Smallville as well. Looking forward to season 5 and hope you guys make it through season 10! Thanks for the fun podcast!
Loved all the guest stars this season. Hope you guys get more amazing guest stars for season 5. I would love to see Micheals favorite scenes after his character leaves the show. I really enjoyed hearing from Ryan,Bryce and all the patreons. Looking forward to july 17th!! Thanks so much for doing the podcast.❤❤
Season 4 is a very good season, pay no attention to Michael shiting on it, it has some of the best episodes of the show like Transference and Onyx, Lois makes its appearance, the introduction to 33.1... I agree with the Lana tattoo story line being a total mess, but besides that it's a solid season.
First episode watched in a while, is Rosey done being a jack***? I lied, I didn't watch. Rosey hates the show, hates watching it and it is clearly a chore for him to watch. pass
His nitpicks make me laugh just as much as they piss you off. So get the fuck over it and stop crying over someone’s opinion about a campy ass Superman show
Really cool seeing two of my favorite actors in a podcast about one of my favorite and last TV show I've ever watched. Getting their insights makes me love the show even more.
*SEASON 5 IS GREAT!! LOVE the SUPERHEROS introduced, the writing & stories are BETTER than S4. Also, the MUSIC is great with the EPISODES. THANK YOU, Micheal, Tom, and Ryan. BRING ON SEASON 5!! Do Remy Zero intro for S5.*
I just want to say, the 3 of you(plus the special guest) all get 3 roses. It’s always great to see y’all every Wednesday. I always look forward to the next episode. Love hearing the stories and opinions of what y’all thought. Looking forward to next season and the seasons after. Thank yall for doing this.
This is a little off point…. But I just had a memory flash of waiting to see if Micheal Rosenbaum would return for the finale…. And was “Super” excited that he did!
My favorite moments of Season 4 was having all the Beautiful ladies Kristin Kreuk, Erica Durance, Sarah Carter and Peyton List show up on this podcast along with my favorite episodes which are Spell and Onyx!!
Season 5 has two of my favorite Smallville episodes of all time! Episode 5x6 'Exposed' and episode 5x14 'Tomb.' Obviously, both are Clark/Chloe/Lois episodes.
My take on seasons 8-10 is that the general quality is lower then it was in the seasons with Michael and Kristen, but it also had some amazing episodes and moments
Looking forward to the start of Season 5! Here's hoping for Michael not to shit on the show as much! 😆 Seriously though, I look forward to watching these every week, as they provide some amazing behind the scenes commentary on a show I have come to really love ever since I was in college. Seeing that it's episode by episode, it's an extensive look back at the show, and I love it. I couldn't be more happy that I stumbled across this podcast. It's going to a long ride to get to the series finale, but I'm 100% into it!
She cracked me up in that episode!😂 When she starts marching in place 🤣😆🤣 and then her eye roll as she starts to go around the pole.🤣😆🤣 And that FANTASTIC closeup of them on the rooftop! All I could say is there they are, Lois Lane and Superman.
Can’t wait for season 5!! I don’t love this season as much as others do but it’s still a really good one because they introduce my fave villain (not including the Luthors).
Was I the only one who thought when they said “Clark’s Dream Explosion” was Waiting for Micheal to say that sounds an euphemism for a Superman wet dream lol 😂
Once I didn't like is when they brought in dead shot. And the bullets had the shell casings attached to them When before that, they were doing just fine with the bullets.
I already gave my reason why I became a fan of Smallville so here's my take on Michael Rosenbaum. What I didn't like about what the producers of Smallville did with Michael after he left was they teased the fans that he would be making cameos. I believe that Michael was upset about it as well because he felt it was a disservice to the fans because he was not coming back. I am interested how he feels about the seasons when he isn't in the show.
I think Tom and Michael’s dynamic is like the golden retriever and the black cat. They just mix well. Tom seems more introverted in certain areas like in the beginning in his public appearances coming back within the recent years. Michael seems to open and loosen him up a bit. But that being said, I can see if Tom’s personality wasn’t so accepting and laidback, I could see a situation where in another life there could have been clashing with Michael and Tom on set due to Michael’s energy. Idr the other actors name but the dude who played Lois’s dad, with that context it makes more sense for why he would be a little rude. If he’s talking to an actor on the set where they were about to have a scene together and he has to get into this role of strict authoritative military man and Michael comes in and is a little loud and saying hi to everyone and losing the focus, I can see how someone with less patience could be rude in response. Idk if it’s just commenters who said it or Michael ever stated that he has adhd and I noticed sometimes those of us with adhd can have difficulty reading the room and our energy may be too much for some sometimes. That’s what makes Michal all the more special and the bond Tom and him have even more great. ❤
