@@pinkpunk-music Cool! I wanna ask, what feelings do you have for this album? For me, it's gotten me through a lotta stuff throughout my adolescence. Abuse, neglect, homelessness, depression, addiction. It's very meaningful to me. As a guy who nobody cared 'bout, coming from this dysfunctional family, growing up in this ghetto trailer park, having no guidance just tryna figure out stuff and find my way in life. This album speaks to me. From the sludgy feelings of being stepped all over in Mailman, to the disillusioned feeling of doing drugs to escape reality in 4th Of July, and everything in between. This album is perfect, and I hold it dear to me. My favorite songs on the album are: 1. Mailman 2. 4th Of July 3. Limo Wreck 4. Head Down 5. Black Hole Sun What's yours? @@Semper_ I'm glad you found this album and are able to find an outlet within it. I like this album a lot and was one of the first albums that I listened to on my own and really started my music taste. I really admire Chris Cornell as a musician, writer, and singer. It saddens me that I can never be able to replicate the sound of him or other 90s singers that I admire, but it inspires me to create music, so I can translate the emotions that I have for these bands into it. As a individual artist I'm still trying to find out what my sound should be like. Since I can never see my favorite bands in their prime, I find it interesting when I hear how much people connect to their music. It's at a level I can never fully understand or experience. @@pinkpunk-music The Day I Tried To Live is another one! That'd be my 6th. This may sound cringey, but that'd be anthem to my life. Not for the content of the lyrics, just for the way it sounds lol. I don't know, there's a lotta feelings with music I can't explain ya know? But yeah, you'll find your sound. First thing is yeah take inspiration (I do from Sludge Metal like Crowbar, The Melvins, Nirvana for my band Trailer Trash. Currently experimenting with stuff though) but don't compare yourself to other bands, otherwise you're gonna think anything you make is just completely inferior n' bad and what's the point. That's for everything in life actually, comparing yourself to others makes you miserable. But you have to realize this is you, you're unique. That'll make you feel better 'bout it all and you can just connect with your music n' emotions. Chris and Layne's voices are kinda impossible to imitate. Kurt and Eddie are good n' all, but Chris and Layne are like legendary singers that can hit octaves that'll kill any other person's voice lol. Phil Anselmo is another one. It's better not to imitate, but add your own flavor into it. Matching the tone is one thing and I understand that, but imitating is another. You don't need to do that, you already have such a beautiful voice. It's very comforting to listen to. It may sound like I imitate Kurt's voice in my covers, but I don't. I just have a Southern Accent, and combined with a raspy voice.. yeah. Lots of Grunge Artists took inspiration from blues so they'd imitate a bit of a fake southern accent, and Kurt was probably the most obvious one for that. Also yeah, I've felt the same way 'bout ain't being able to see my favorite bands in their prime. It woulda been cool to see Nirvana during their In Utero Tour at the Astrodome here in Houston, or the Clash Of Titans Tour at the Former Summit. Woulda been cool, but I was born too late.
