I'm in awe! Great job! BTW, with those Schlage locks, you can just punch the top SCHLAGE button to engage the deadbolt. Don't have to punch in the code first every time. I had mine a couple years before I figured that out. It was probably spelled out right in that paper thingy that came with it (I think they're called "Instructions") but I didn't read'em. Keep up the amazing, inspirational work!

You could put a Fixed deadbolt ( a pin-not a livebolt lock) in the hinge side of the door that fits into a hole in the frame. Look at photos of safe doors, they do just that to prevent the doors from being lifted off the frames when closed.

Great job! You need hinge side security pins, so if the hinges are cut off the door can’t be opened from the hinge side. Just weld three hardened 1/2” dia.x 3/4” long rods at the top, center and bottom of the hinge edge of the door. Once welded put some lipstick on the end of each rod and close the door gently against the jamb leg as far as it will go. Open the door and drill three corresponding holes where the lipstick shows up on the jamb leg. This will protect like a vault door against a hinge side attack.

Hey I really loved this project. You are so talented, great execution and very enjoyable to watch. I really hope you read my concern, though, which is this: if you go around your house and look at every closet, you'll notice there is a doorknob on the inside, just in case! Yes you have built an awesome overbuilt welder cabinet, but if a child, or heck, even a grown man somehow accidently gets locked inside, they will probably die in there with no way to get out. I'd take the time to install the inside deadbolt thumbturn!

A tip for you if you haven't figured it out already. I have the same lock. To lock it, you don't have to put the code in, just push the big button at the top and then turn the knob. The code is just for unlocking it. The big button also lights up the buttons at night.

I lock up all my welding equipment as well. But realistically.... 90% of the tools we have is meant to cut metal in some wway, shape,or form. To lock up everything that can, everyday, is not practical. Best thing to do is mitigate access to power to run those tools, and the ability to remove machines from the premisis. Sometimes just a bar only 15" above the ground and across a door way. Is enough to stop the removal of our welding machines. Due to the weight of them alone. Great video!

Wow, that turned out great! New sub here... I'm not sure if you care, but that lock has a vulnerability where one could drill a small (~⅛") hole on the right side bottom of the cover and then open the lock at will with no other sign of forced entry using a piece of stiff wire. If you take the outside cover off, I'm sure you'll see the problem and understand how I have been fixing it quickly and easily with a ~9/16" ball bearing and a little epoxy. 😉 Also, you can lock it up by just pushing the center "Schlage" button and turning the deadbolt... You don't have to enter the code every time (to lock it). 😎
@ncordial12

just FYI i would have welded at least one bolt on the back of each panel and through bolted it to the door. The constant expansion and contraction of the wood may eventually pop the inlayed pieces out. But then again, maybe not. Usually just drill your hole in the wood, dip the bolt in a little puddle of spray paint and push through the hole leaving a circle on the inlay where you need to weld it on. cut off the bolt head and weld. done :)
