I have no idea what this means for the US, but as an Australian, Medicare is objectively a good thing, so far as I am concerned... So I find this extra horrifying that a president can say something like this.
@@coolboyyo654wild how Goblin Slayer came out before anime became a bigger thing in the West too, making bros point worthles. The first episode was only big because of shock content, which brought traction to a 3/10 series
@@SammyK-jt3vv anime has been a huge thing in the west since i was a literal baby, every single person at my school watched at least a couple. i just don't understand how goblin slayer, which is not even 10 years old, could have come out before anime became big here?
Yeah, him going "Oh some dictatorial candidate in the future can see these as building blocks to do it" that's now. That's right now. Trump has literally said he will be dictator from day one. Project 2025 exists. People really need to think about what the consequences of this election means. I know Biden is old, but do you want old or evil?
18:50 this image PREDATES the 2010s. This is a 4chan image from 2009. It was originally posted on /v/ despite depicting card games and was specifically made in response to "nerd culture" as Big Bang Theory gained traction. On one hand, it's weirdly grossly misogynist. On the other hand, the state of current MtG seems to indicate it was correct all along (insofar as people who are there FOR the hobby are supplanted by people who are there to hang out and the hobby becomes a background element, a pretense to do that. It doesn't have anything to do with the presence of women). And to an extent I agree with them. It's just that your niche hobbies and subcultures were murdered by web 2.0 and hyper capitalism commodifying brands and fanbases and reducing everything to an inoffensive slurry, not by girls existing.
isnt this an issue in democracy? First thing that came to mind was amerindians getting outvoted by whiteboys who had been there for 10 years. heck basically every wave of migrants conflicted with the next one too
On a serious note, you can sell plasma over the course of so many donations for anywhere from 700 to 1000 dollars once every six months or so as a special offer. If you need money badly it’s a good way to legally make 100+ dollars a week.
You need to be able to maintain a diet which can sustain those donations, though. It's a good potential source of extra cash if you're struggling, but if you're scrounging for pennies it might make you life worse overall - depends on your support network and stuff, of course, but plasma is made from more than just H2O, and can be pretty taxing on your bodies resources to replace. They don't take more than you should be able to sustain, but I'm not sure if they take malnourishment into the equation or how that might change things
Everyone is assuming that Snake Eye/Yubel Fiendsmith will be the dominant deck of the format forgetting that the new TCG exclusive archetype debuts in the next week😏
@@lolidontknowagoodname9572 isn't that kinda unethical? Like you're incentivizing poorer folks to "donate" (actually sell) their blood to help ends meet. Okay that it's not that risky for your health, but still donating blood isn't really free for your body and it should be done if you want to do it, not to gain money
@@Ironpeckerplasma has trouble getting donations. It's a more painful and draining process than giving normal blood. The money is given as an incentive to get enough people to donate when the public otherwise would not
@@moncala7787which still makes it a problem for people who might not have a diet which can healthily sustain those donations, either because of addictions or rent or any number of other things. Key word being HEALTHILY, because missing even a few vital nutrients or dipping just that little bit below the energy intake vs. consumption balance can cause multiple mental and physical health problems, which compound with any others, and can lead to... Very bad choices. The fact that selling plasma can be the difference maker for some people is a massive red flag on its own.
22:35-23:33 Reminder kids: Juneteenth Celebrations? Started in 1866. Father's Day? First one wasn't until 1910. Graduation? Well, that wasn't standardized to be in June in the US until the mid 20th century. So Grads and Dads have been taking the spotlight away from black Americans for over 110 years. (And the first Pride was a riot. Queer people weren't gifted June by the government like the Grads and Dads. They took that for themselves and more power to them).
The hobby degradation thing is most definitely about magic. I have a friend who's been playing it for years and I just recently got into it and they've been bitching about how new sets aren't like the old sets and they're bitching about the brand deals that magic have done and they're bitching about the new player base.
that degredation of a fanbase thing does happen, but it's not really the fault of the people trying to get into the game, it's almost always entirely down to the creator/dev or whatever not being able to leave their creation alone, sometimes it works out for the better sometimes it doesn't, you shouldn't blame people who are trying to get into it you should blame the people making the decisions, though most of the time the changes are way overblown
Its more the fault of creators and out-of-touch executives chasing the mythical "general audience" and "eternal exponential growth" that leads them to try and sanitize their franchises, which accomplishes nothing except pissing off their core audience and turn off the "general audience" as they become aware of the franchise's history and what it used to cater to. Basically what the other comment mentioned about web2.0 and capitalism turning our hobbies into mechanisms to wring out money of more people.
To be fair to the Masters in Biology girlfriend: A) have you seen a Penguin skeleton? They look like a Dinosaur. B) Just cause you get a Biology masters doesn't mean you do anything about animals past first year. My sister has a Biology degree and only took classes about plants and fungi.
@@OsirusHandle Tomatos are a fruit by definition of what a fruit is, but a common nonscientific definition of a vegatable is "a plant or part of a plant that is used as food", it misses the fact that it should not be part of the reproductive portion of a flowering plant (which tomato fruits fall under).
@@OsirusHandle Vegetable as you think is a culinary term. Those of a Culinary and Botanical background have different values, and thus, different definitions for words. It wasn't just A botanist. An entire group of people decided on the botanical definition of fruit, which a tomato matches up to perfectly. I use to donate plasma to buy cards (had to stop because one of my veins collapsed and really hurt). Was able to build a few decks, including Salamangreat and Bird Up. Not a bad option, just please take care of yourself with regular exercise, healthy eating, and hydration if you are going to do this.
The Degradation of a Fanbase thing is so shit that Guardbro - who is the most conservative TTRPG player I have ever witnessed on the internet - made an almost two hours long video on why it is so shit.
I just want to mention that the presidential judicial immunity when conducting official business while sounding wild is pretty standard. Technically speaking alot of the duties of a leader are fundamentally illegal if done by a normal citizen and this principle is largely there so laws don't need to have an except "frog the jam". This notion of immunity has existed in the US and is present in many countries around the world such as Canada, Uk (northern Ireland, England, Wales, and Scottland), Australia. Whilst it is a thing to be wary about the actual notion of immunity should be less of the concern what is to be defined as official should probably be the worry. Note like MBT - this is written by a law student and not a legal practitioner. This is not legal advise and any actions taken in regard to this are that persons sole action. And liability while not extend beyond said person and those who have taken meaningful actions to aid.
Why do I feel like the Taylor Swift post was made by one of those people who thinks that Taylor Swift is secretly a lesbian and is being forced to be kept in the closet by her management team. There are people who actually think this. It's ridiculous
the quality of my 'friendlies' heavily depends on the people I'm playing against. some people just don't put effort into working out what gameplay elements are fun but that 'degredation of a gameplay group' is either a conspiracy theory or a hyper specific anecdote.
To every American citizen of voting age: please vote in this election. As much as the candidates suck, a low voter turnout is more likely to lead to a worse result. Make your voice heard. I would prefer that you vote for one of the candidates that can actually win too. As tempting as the third parties may be in this uninspired field, a vote for that them is likely removing a vote for the person who you think would be the actual better outcome of the two.
7:00 I honestly think it’s very silly to try to dissect jokes like simple funny sounding sentences as if every meme needs multiple layers of nuance, especially coming from the guy who milked bussy jokes
isnt the first one about the agencies just reiterating their power ultimately stems from the state? maybe we shouldnt vote in people who arbitrarily ignore expert counciling 🤣
@@Zetact_ the immunity thing is much worse imo, at first it sounds great but the whole point of the law is to restrict actions. for example you can just the president directly deny the next vote through force. we might say, ok in specific situations you might want to do that, but i cant think of any that isnt: simply ratifiable by the rest of the government democratically (in the UK during ww1 and ww2 our parties just agreed to temporarily avoid it by forming a total informal coalition), or b. wouldnt immediately result in civil war.
@@OsirusHandle The immunity ruling is clarifying something that has been part of the country's laws since before most of us were even born. It's complicated legal manner that you really can't capture just in a Tweet but the long and short is that all it's doing is the SCOTUS taking something that has been a part of the legal system for decades but without clearly defined boundaries and making a ruling that clarifies those boundaries. The essence of the ruling is that in order for the president to perform the roles of the president and ensure laws are actually being upheld, there are certain acts that you really should not prosecute someone for. My personal take on it is that there's certain acts by many presidents that it's reasonable to take personal issue with but the executive power that allows some heinous acts to be committed is part and parcel with the necessary power to perform the role of the presidency.

You generally shouldn't replace an incumbent like ever if you want to win, nor should you replace them this close to the convention. It's unironically better to have someone who is barely conscious.
I don't know if everyone is just booty hurt or if they legit didn't know if Biden wasn't gonna be him, but the fact people aren't saying "It's Joever" annoys me to no end.
Idiocracy is a movie where the people in charge are incompetent, not malicious. The past century of Western politics has been flooding the establishment with people who are competent of varying degrees but are actively malicious.

And in case you haven't noticed the past two days, there's the true level of what's REALLY at stake now??? Besides, wouldn't want RFKJ with absolute immunity either.
@@christopherb501 This logic only enforces the two parties dominance. The only power you formally have is to vote and if you vote for the lesser evil you are directly empowering said evil. If everyone thinks "third party will never win" you will never, ever get a third party to win, ensuring you get a 2 party state. Arguably the alternative is you threaten the party you usually vote for with not voting or even voting for the opposition. This is probably what got trump elected imo. Unfortunately, we have learned the democrats are unwilling to change even when you threaten them with Trump. So what, double down? Seems like a bad strategy. Vote for someone you actually believe in.
