Well-Dressed for Warfare - Audio Sermon by Tony Evans 

Last night I was praying and ask God to help me to become better and effective at praying. Then this morning, the first video at the top of my recommendations is this video. God, you are so good. I thank you for answering my prayer through this sermon. Now I finally understand how to pray in the spirit. At first, I was just uttering words and always wonder why my prayers were never answered. But my God and my Lord have answered me today. Thank you Lord.

I had been going through an intense battle that had broken my heart into. Someone tried giving me a word from the Lord that was contrary to the Word God had given to me in the secret closet of prayer, and then some. I love this person so very much, and what they said stunned me and truly hurt me. I would cry on my job, at home, going down the road, just broken. Finally one evening I knelt down to pray. I normally come to the Lord and spend time praising Him first, but this time I just broke down and started pouring my heart out to Him! After I was finished praying the Lord told me to read Psalm 65:7, so I did. "Which stillest the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves, and the tumult of the people." Then I felt led to read Psalm 3, so I did, and the whole chapter ministered to me. A peace came over me and for the next two days the Lord caused a song to rise up in my spirit and I couldn't help but sing it over and over for 2 solid days! .... However, after those two days I started dwelling on what I was told again, and once again I began to weep. Then one day I was standing in my kitchen and I heard "Have your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace." I knew that was part of God's armor and so I began to read Ephesians 6, but I really didn't understand what it meant, or how to put on the armor, so I prayed and asked God to give me understanding and wisdom to know how to do what Ephesians 6 was instructing me to do. Very soon afterwards I had a video pop up from Tony Evans on the Armor of God. What a blessing! God answered my prayer and I'm understanding this better than I ever have before.... I realized something. I did not hang on to the peace God had given to me that evening I had cried on His shoulder, reason being for the Lord telling me to have my feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. He was telling me to take my peace back another words. Also, I realized that I was being attacked by the enemy and that I was going through spiritual warfare and that God was giving me the knowledge and tools that I needed in order to battle effectively. Thank you Jesus! .... I remember hearing David Wilkerson say that if you are faithful in spending time with the Lord and God has your ear, that if someone comes up to you telling you that they have a Word from the Lord, he said that it had better line up with what God has been speaking to you in the secret closet of prayer. I learned first hand that is so true! It almost devastated me, but my God interceded, and I praise Him!

Thank you Pastor Tony for this teaching. I always thought I couldn't pray in the spirit because I thought it means praying in tongues. Therefore I keep on asking for the gift of tongue in order to do what Paul says in Ephesians. I olny proclaim verses pertaining to my situation. I didn't know I can pray to God with His Word. I believe my marriage is under spiritual attack. I Google teaching on identifying spiritual attack and I found your teaching. I have watched all the 5 parts of this teaching. I am sick and tired of living in defeat. Lord Jesus bless you pastor.

Wonderful teaching. Can anyone speak to this…if you don’t have scriptures already memorized for a particular situation or circumstance in order to pray “Father God, your Word says….” if you feel moved to pray at various times during the day are we to just Google in order to find the right scriptures for warfare? I don’t want to pray vague or empty prayers…I do read the Word but I don’t have verses yet committed to memory…

Since demons doesn't live in heaven anymore, how do they know what's our prayers? Just wondering how demons blocks prayers when they are not omnipresent like God
