In the spring I hired a Cube while visiting Mallorca. From an external visual examination it seemed pretty good. It also rode and handled nicely. I'll probably hire the same again next year and Cube would be high up on my list if I were to buy a new bike. Cube seem to concentrate on getting the basics right and not trying to introduce headline grabbing features.

I have a Reaction Sl carbon mtb built as a beach racer with a carbon fork. It''s the fastest bike I own (and I have 5). The insides look very well made, every thing fits nicely without creaking appearing. It has a nice compliance to the back end, and it only weighs 8.9kg in 23" with a relative heavy custom build. I would recommend Cube to anyone.

It annoys me that bike shops and mechanics have to have specific and expensive frame building facing tools to correct a fundamental part of the frame that should be correct FROM the factory.
@RyonBeachner
@RyonBeachner 2 года назад
@RollinRat Yeah, the whole road disc brake move was largely to reduce liability. The manufacturers of carbon wheels eventually realized that what makes a wheel light and stiff, makes for a shit braking surface, and what makes for a good braking surface, doesn’t make a wheel very light or stiff. With the added benefit of increased tire clearance, and more freedom to play with cross sectional profile for the sake of aero. All that is assuming hydraulic brakes don’t also offer better modulation than rim brakes, but if you think it’s all about power I won’t bother arguing with you.
@gabrielfernandeztattoos
@gabrielfernandeztattoos Год назад
@RollinRat exactly that’s the hole point on those disc brake. Including that with disc brakes, road bikes tend to have broken fork or broken carbon wheel easier than with rim brakes. Without speaking about how the thin wheels get easily locked with the discs, for me is a no no on road bikes.

Do you think that the laminate on newer bike frames (including those Chinese ones like Yoeleos, Velobuilds, etc) are so uniformed and consistent because of the new EPS foam-injection moulding techniques instead of the old school tubular bagging techniques? I have seen RU-vid videos of Yoeleos and Velobuilds that are so clean and turns out they were all moulded using foam injection

My titanium frame has excellent compaction too. The way the tubes join you can tell it's a well made frame that will give me a lifetime of reliable service. The paint is beautiful and professionally done. Not a bad weight at today's standards so it could be used to race, but why would I do something stupid like that. There's no money in bike racing for the normal Joe. Carbon is just not needed for most people and because of the failures IMO it's less than ideal.

Do you really think people go bike racing for the money? And I'd argue that most titanium frames ARE a bad weight by today's standards. This "budget" frame is 1100g. Most titanium frames I've weighed are 1600g+.

Had a fork steer failure on a Cube Agree, the customer service was the worst thing I have ever experienced. On top of that after only two years of ownership and still within the warranty period, they could no longer supply a fork replacement even under crash replacement because they don't make them anymore. Buy cheep buy twice I guess, you live and learn.

@bonzobanana1
@bonzobanana1 2 года назад
Yes that's the important bit as Cube is the branding but which factory? I mean Cube use a lot of different factories as some of their frames come out of Bangladesh which is notorious for being a bit poor. Also raw frames are often manufactured in one country and finished in another. It would be nice to know which country it came out of too although I guess it might have made in Germany on it, not sure as many Asian manufactured products are rebranded to 'Made in Germany' under the last significant process rule. Clearly its a very decent factory though but will it be the same factory for this years models? I'm sure there must be a way of identifying the frame though to know if they have moved factories. I'd be very surprised if Cube were making their CF road bikes in Bangladesh like some of their other bikes. I've seen one of their mountain bikes and the saddle post was getting badly scraped by burring inside the seat tube. Surely this has to be manufactured by one of the more advanced CF manufacturers in Taiwan or mainland China. The bike price was quite competitive so maybe mainland China. If a Bangladesh factory has made this when they are relatively new to bike manufacturing then WOW! www.thedailystar.net/business/news/germanys-cube-teams-meghna-make-high-end-bicycles-1632277

Cube is unfairly one of the most underrated and unloved brands that in fact seems to put their effort in producing no nonsense high quality products instead of overcharging customers to then spend in marketing, like so many "cool" brands do. I guess that reflects in less "coolness" and brand exposure that makes people not look at them as a first option, and I think they also suffer for the fact that some of their paintjobs were not very consensual. I have a 2016 Litening with many miles in it and no complaints whatsoever. It seems well built and well engineered: for example both sides of the pressfit bottom bracket are joined with a carbon internal structural connection instead of being 2 holes on the shell, prone to not being concentric. As a result, I never had any issues with creaking or accelerated bearing wear. I would definitely buy another one of their bikes.

You might not know cube as many of us do, im a bike mechatroniker in germany and the placr i work we sell cube, despite havin a few nice models in road mtb and gravel the many of them are or have a very dubious quality. For example one of the best road bikes from Cube, the c68X has a integrated handlebar stem combo which is softer thank my fully extended look Ergostem the fork shaft its also very soft compared to the one in my Colnago c64, same with bb’s in road and mtb version i have to service them at least 2-4 times a week and what yo say about the E-Bike, i had to say they are way better than the Bulls out there but cube headset and their internal routing spacers are the biggest crap ever. They mught look nice but from the mechanical point of view… they are just MEH
