@mmtmc2320 it's actually so they look better when off. It's the fact that a lot of them are unbalanced and do not flex with your foot that they are uncomfortable. Ballroom dancing shoes are extremely comfortable. You can run around in those heels no problem.
ah yes.. my country has uneven roads. i am a slow walker and take each step carefully as i tend to twist my leg... even then the footwear i am wearing tends to twist my leg. (i never wear high heels)
Actually no. Women's heels used to be more comfortable, and theater heels continue to be made in a way so that people can dance. It's the manufacturers problem.
I wonder if this is the reason high heels were never comfy for me. ...I don't really need a reason to wear them at my current height anyway, it'd prob scare the men.
@@truworthsn shoes were custom made for the specific person's feet. There might have been people that were the same shoe size, like the system we have today, but there wouldn't have been many people with the same foot shape. Her width, and the way her toes fit in it would have been unique to her. I'm sure someone could have shoved their foot in it, but I assume the prince would also go off of looking for a blonde with blue eyes. He stared at them all night. He has to at least know what those look like, right!?
So actually the shoes used to be in fur, ie. 'vair' in French. Then as the word 'vair' went into oblivion and the tale kept being told, 'vair' was turned into 'verre', ie. glass, which has the same pronunciation. So now you know.
That's actually not true. The hopythesis that Cinderella's slippers were originally in "vair" was started by Honoré de Balzac in 1841. However, no such version of the tale exists. Charles Perrault's version from 1697 (the one the Disney movie is based on) unequivocally mentions "verre" (glass) - all printings of his fairy tale collection that were made during his lifetime used this spelling. In European folklore glass is a common way to symbolize that an object is magical/enchanted. You can find old stories with glass bridges, glass mountains… and glass shoes.
I'm french and mother is a french teacher. She told me specialists don't know what version is the right one, the one with fur or with glass or another one. It is possibly an unsual way of writing verre...
I just relised the absolutely heinous sound them glass slippers would have been making on any tile that Cinderella walks over, which would be a lot seeing as she goes to a royal ball
I'd be more worried about it shattering and having shards of glass in my feet, potentially damaging them so much I'd be unable to walk again. This is likely one of many reasons why I have never been visited by a Fairy Godmother.
I'd never trust glass shoes, if you fall not only you'll hurt your foot, but will have scars all over your leg because of the shattered shoe How the hell does this have a thounsand likes already
In fact, there à problem of confusion : in fact, the shoes were made of vair, a sort of squirrel. But, then, it was distorted to verre (glass in English). 😉
Although I do like the kind old woman from the original I think I could make an exception everything about him just reminds me of Whitney Houston God I miss that woman
@@renuguleria1696which version? "Like the dawn"? Copper, silver and gold (three dresses)? Or apricot? Or whatever, just more beautiful for every night, or just than all the others? Stitched with gold, silver , pearls ....
I actually loved this version of Cinderella!!!! It's one of my favorite princess movie remakes. *Edit* The title is "Cinderella" and it is on prime video
Fun fact: in the real story, people cut their own toes in order to fit the shoe. Simply a way to say how women cripple themselves in order to secure a status invented by man for man. As bad as this film is.... it's got a point.
@@Maria-iu7hiwhy don’t we go by what the casting is listed as, that seems as factual as it gets considering we are watching a work of fiction. FYI he’s casted as Fairy Godmother ❤
The original story didn't even have joy and happiness it was depressing and the girl goes from being a servant to a housewife after watching her sisters mutilate themselves to take her place
I never wanted to watch this Cinderella version bc I don’t really care for Camila Cabello(don’t hate on me we all have our own opinions and arguing won’t change anyone’s mind) but but THE FAIRY GODMOTHER (Father? I guess lol) JUST CONVINCED ME THAT I MUST WATCH THIS MOVIE 😂
That’s what I’m saying, I didn’t even realize it was Cinderella until the glass slippers. And as much as people don’t like the blue dress, I love it and to me that’s really Cinderella. I see pink and think aurora.
This line is even better because that’s Billy Fucking Porter, who starred as Lola in the Broadway production of Kinky Boots. He knows better than anybody that “even women’s footwear has its limits”
