He called the heart of the forge an abomination, basically calling your church an abomination.
@kerbe3
@kerbe3 11 месяцев назад
When a tech priest takes time to show you the heart of the forge. You do not call it an abomination. Instead, you recognize that for someone not of the Cult Mechanicus to be allowed to bare witness to a forge heart is something that almost never happens. You are blessed to be shown such a sight. Praise be to the Omnissia.

I mean...I do sort of think that his calling the heart of the forge an abomination was the reason the tech adept let him get changed

@@ChicagoReacts the Mechanicus aren't technically heretical, they do honor our EMPEROR OF MANKIND as the OMNISSIAH, and to most citizens (NOT THE BLACK TEMPLARS) recognize that as well and will perform religious rights on their own equipments.... To the BLACK TEMPLARS however, DO NOT RECOGNIZE THE MECHANICUS .... and even though we have them around..... We DO NOT HAVE THEM AROUND US....

They're talking about the 4th planet of the solar system. In WH40k it's a massive industrial planet. The story also only scratches the surface of how inhumane Mars is in WH40k. It's also a planet you don't want to be a toaster on either.

I guarantee you his calling the machine an abomination is what landed him that fate. For all their talk of letting go of their flesh and emotions to welcome machinery and cogitation, the Adeptus Mechanicus are hypocritical and wrathful.

Its not that the tech adept making him into a servitor enjoys his suffering, its the frightening realization that it simply doesn't care. Why would they use something like anesthetics and medicine on something they consider lesser.
@kerbe3
@kerbe3 11 месяцев назад
Considering they saved lobotomization for last instead of first, they wanted to send a message. Also, he wasn’t made a servitor along with the mass produced ones. They took extra time to have him made a servitor in a room all to himself.

@@Northbravoone more thing, they did use medicine, only to keep him alive, but medicine none the less. Just, you know, none of that useless numbing stuff, Omnissia only knows what damage anesthetics do to a servitor.

Oh, so anesthetics might break the machine parts? That's an interesting thought.

Fun fact. Sometimes servitors are not completely lobotomized, and they still retain a measure of self-awareness. They remember what has been done to them, what they are doomed to remain as, and they can only watch powerless from within. Because, you know, 40k loves doubling down on grim dark body disfigurement horror.

I guess his insult of "Abomination" when he saw the tens of thousands of slaves being sacrificed would be like going into a medieval spanish church and telling the inquisition that eating the flesh of christ is an abomination...religious fundies aren't the most tolerant or forgiving. Maximillian was on an ambassadorial visit to essentially strengthen ties with the mechanicus and secure better trade deals, but the mechanicus is very anti outside influence and almost champing at the bit to prove they are not subservient to the imperium, so the whole trip to visit the heart of the forge had a dual purpose of testing if this ambassador would make a worthy respectful ally and if he proved not to be, they could bait him into making a mistake and use him to make a statement on who needs to respect who. I don't think it's common knowledge in the 40k universe that thousands of psykers have their souls consumed on a daily basis to keep the emperor alive, and those that are aware usually have the opinion that psykers are dangerous mutant scum and deserve the fate...hypocrisy is rampant in the imperium

Vox in the void makes excellent videos. Mars was one of the first planets to be colonized I believe. They became the mechanicus and like the story if you offend them. You might “accidentally” fall into a forge or be turned into a servitor. Also the human sacrifices to the forge I think are losses In maintenance as she refers to them as Units so they aren’t just tossed in the fire.

It's the planet. There's a technophile cult of machine worshipping cyborgs on Mars in the 40K universe. The Emperor gave them an exception to practice religion as he thought it would be counterproductive to conquer them. Heresy? Yes. But it's tolerated. Mars is the Roman equivalent of Ares. Hephaestus is the Greek god of craftsmanship and forging.
@jacob-nj4gm
@jacob-nj4gm 11 месяцев назад
The planet, not the god. Mars the god doesn't even exist here at all. Just the 4 chaos gods and the very few Eldari gods that are left, Star gods and the old ones.
@Northbravo
@Northbravo 11 месяцев назад
You never know, maybe Mars was around slightly. But wasn't Mars the god of war to the Roman's? Wouldnt that technically be Khorne? Correct me if I'm wrong I don't remember.
@jacob-nj4gm
@jacob-nj4gm 11 месяцев назад
@@Northbravo Honestly you make a valid point. Correct,Mars is the Roman god of war. Also a fair point to make about Korhn possibly being correlated with the Roman god Mars but it is never mentioned in lore to be the case however through technicality one could argue when Roman worshipped Mars it could of been Khorn that was really receiving the worships and prayers of the followers who prayed to Mars. After all, Khorn feeds on war and murder.But until lore says otherwise there was never truly the god,Mars.

Ah abomination, will admit decided to have a look at it myself recently, quite a uhm, scary story I tell ye. Though I guess a good bit of it is because you only listen to the whole thing, there is no visuals to give you an idea ftmp, so the mind imagines one hell of a horrific thing. And I will say, this is probably one of the least horrific tales of 40k all things considered, there are MUCH worse things than this. Also will admit this tale kinda reminds me of a sequence in Quake 4 where Matthew Kane has a bunch of stuff grafted to him and his legs replaced as part of a process to make him a Strogg, which didn't complete but, man. Quite something for me to have a flashback to. Though definitely do think the whole abomination story is on a whole other level from that, especially as Matthew Kane got lucky. The Psion did not.

The Adeptus Mechanicus are not "technically" heretics nor are they Technically part of the Imperium. They are in fact Allies of the Imperium as per the Treaty of Mars between the Emperor and the Mechanicus Leaders. The Mechanicus' religion is tolerated because - as you said - they make and preserve all of Humanity's technology and are a key piece to the War Effort

Originally they were called the Cult Mechanicum. During the Horus Heresy there was a split in the Mechanicum and those that stayed loyal to the Imperium became known as the Adeptus Mechanicus, while those who were loyal to Horus' rebellion would become the Dark Mechanicum. The main difference between the Mechanicus and the Mechanicum is their view on the Omnissiah. The Mechanicus sees the Emperor as he Omnissiah, whereas the Mechanicum sees the Emperor as the false Omnissiah.

I find this story a little over the top. true that the Mechanicus creates servants and the like, so creepy, but are unworthy subjects, heretics, criminals. They would not bother a noble family. Then I do not understand the reason for the journey. What should they see or discover?
@scarafereastra
@scarafereastra 11 месяцев назад
perhaps we are missing some context. political reasons, transactional ? maybe his family had dealings with the mechanicus and he was next in line to have these affairs, thus requiring him to be ...accomodated with the inhumanity of the cult, to ease future dealings and maintain some composure and feigned respect for them. clearly he failed. the only dumb thing i find in this story is the lack of protective gear on the 2 imperials. I mean, the noble family must have known about the extreme conditions there and certainly didn't lack the influence or wealth to offer it. Maybe Maximilian's father is also inhuman and saw his heir as a threat to be removed, after all, he would have the means to extend his own lifespan well beyond what would be normal now
