After the events of the past few days, this song hits particularly hard for me. A birthday weekend ruined by a bad bed, narrowly dodging losing my job, almost falling for a diet-based Ponzi scheme. I love you guys.
@@Arcanist_Gaming It wasn't my bed, but the bed at a hotel I tried to stay at. It was so rock hard it actually did my back a minor injury. Partly because of that I didn't sleep a wink that night and had to cancel plans with friends and family the next day because I simply couldn't stay awake.
@@Arcanist_Gaming It was a local B&B based in a 100 year old Victorian townhouse. To be fair to them, the owners were nothing but kind and accommodating, but the place was also showing distinct signs of decay; they mentioned finally getting the roof fixed two weeks after my stay, which we know from friends who've performed there that they've been trying to get to for almost 2 years. That said, I suspect the mattress hadn't been replaced since the B&B opened in the mid-1980's. I'm not exactly a stranger to old mattresses, and I often prefer my beds a bit on the hard side, but this was something else entirely. Thankfully, when I called the next morning to cancel the rest of my stay (I'd returned home the same night; luckily it was in the same town as where I live), they were surprisingly understanding, almost to the point where I suspect I wasn't the first time this had happened. And they only charged me for the one night I was there, which was fair by me; I had used their facilities after all. I'm not mad at them for the experience; you always take your chances when you stay somewhere outside your home. Heck, I've stayed at a Holiday Inn Express where I didn't sleep more than 2-3 hours a night for 4 days because of banging on the floor above and maintenance folks whistling in the halls. Once I was conscious enough to reflect on it, I was supremely bummed out about my Saturday plans being spoiled, but I also realized that what's done is done and there's no point fretting about it. And hey, at least I still got a weekend off work, which isn't easy this time of year.
Bless you, sweetie. We've got to stick together. I'm adding it to my F*k Cancer setlist as well. I was handed AML in 2019, and I'm in remission, but as Tom and Tom so brilliantly summed it up, This is Shit. Hang in there, my friend.
My ma, bless her. Hopefully not inherited and fuck cancer. Stay strong. Edit: She's in remission, too. Maybe should've mentioned that. And yes, it is shit.
We have just found out a family member has been diagnosed with cancer and has only a few months left to live. This song is so appropriate at the moment, and says everything that I currently feel.
@tomcarradine I have seen you perfrom twice now at my Grandmother's care home. Both performances were stellar, lovely seeing you here as well. thanks for all the laughs.
Whether you’re in your parlor with your instruments, microphones and camera, or you’re in a foxhole getting bombed, or a burning building, or just trying to vote like you have your whole life but you’re getting hassled, this is the universal anthem of our human condition. Good night, and good luck.
This song's sentiment is rarely set to music. Thank goodness you did so expertly! It's vitally important to take a moment and admit something's buggered to fuck and back sometimes. Suppressing that emotion is false positivity, which is highly toxic behavior for the fake and their loved ones. Not to mention part of why some discussions of larger problems get hopelessly derailed. Huzzah, gentlemen, huzzah!
A bit late to this one. I've only heard your solo version before. Your singing, playing and that glorious beard are still stars here, but please tell Tom that his skillful fingering gave me much pleasure.
@@pollyparrot8759 I listen to music with a migrane with the screen on the table! I'm photophobic as shit on migrane days but audio sensory imput normally dont fuck with me! Set a play list and go bay-bay! Should i coment on migrane days, probably not. But when almost every day's a migrane day sometimes you gotta say eff it we ball to the physical pain for a few minutes to scrounge a scrap of normalcy.
@@HeraldHealer You genuinely amaze me, when I get a migraine attack everything is sensory overload, vision, sound, smell and of course pain ... I am in fact rather envious and if it works for you the good luck but as I say I am amazed. Migraine is the worst.
Is the piano music for this available for purchase? I can’t play, but my daughter can and she would absolutely love to have it. She loves the song (so do I).
Thank you, youtube, for suggesting this after I got a message from my TL asking why I left work one fucking minute early this morning. So very appropriate!
This is not only quite fun and funny, but is also rather profound! This is what people who are grieving or going thru a rough time need. I don't need you to fix the problem - it's not something fixable. I just need someone to hold my hand and be there - just acknowledge that sometimes life sucks and there is nothing that can be done. I'm going to share this with as many people as I can! Thank you.
I think this is relatable for me sometimes when I’m not feeling great or when other people have just not been nice. I think this song is for anyone who feels like the world is just too much sometimes and we need to just feel our emotions so we can get up the next day and try again. This is a great song. 🎉
This was my theme tune last week I suddenly lost my sight in my left eye and ended up for 5 days in French hospital. That was shit enough before the food arrived 💩😂😭. I can’t remember how many times my wife were quietly singing this all over the hospital when going to consultations. Back on my llama farm now and much better, awaiting results. Let’s hope I don’t have to belt it out in a months time. Thanks for the fun 🙏🦙
In all seriousness we probably live near each other and I have the same haircut (if you know you know). Making me wanna learn how to play ragtime, haha! Edit: You must be a lady's man. (A lady's man. A la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la lady's man.)
This song and "no more fucks" helped me survive the end-of-year crunch period at my previous factory job last year. Thankfully I'm out of that mess now.
I'm a new subscriber. And I'm glad to see you've made a new video. This was very enjoyable. And I'm glad to see Tom back on RU-vid. I hope this will signal a collaboration between the two of you for more songs. Keep up the good work and keep posting videos on RU-vid.
