Cai Thomas sings Quilter’s Dream Valley live in concert. Recorded at King Edward’s School, Witley. June 2023. Rob Lewis on piano Video - Theo Frazer With thanks to Betti for her kind sponsorship
❤Hooray! Thankyou Cai,for this beautiful new video! Your voice is so beautiful, already, and it's such a thrill to see and hear you growing up and working hard ar your singing, just as you have always done! Beautiful! Thank you!
In short, go kid! I was never especially good as an alto in the choir when I was young. To be able to go from a top treble or boy soprano to a tenor or baritone right after the voice has changed us is something special.
We're lucky to have this! It was obviously recorded on a mobile phone, by Cai's family, who are trying to be really quiet! This makes me recording even more special, to me. Thank you Cai's Mum ,for sharing your recordings, both in his treble days and now, as he develops his beautiful baritone voice.❤❤❤❤❤❤
A nice development that you now have a baritone voice, Cai, a pleasure to listen. Your concentration to breath and pace yourself in such a natural way in your soloist early years was outstanding then and now so nicely carries forth!
Oh wow, glad this popped up in my recommended. Went back to the video from a year ago to compare. Absolutely stunning how much your lower range and resonance has developed.
so expressively and perfectly sung, every bit of you seems to go into your singing. thanks for posting. it is exciting to hear you exploring your style. thanks for continuing to give your gift to the world.
Wow I wish I could hear him sing in person 🩷 I actually cried while listening to you sing 🥹 its a blessing having such an amazing voice ✨️ I tried singing the welsh lullaby you sang 3 years ago, it's to complicated 😮💨 but I'm glad I get to hear you sing! Consider me your #1 fan from today on 🙌❤
So glad to see you keep singing Cai. I did not have your beautiful voice but I only just stopped choir singing at the age of 88. You have many more years ahead of you.
By 18 you'll be more comfortable in your new voice kid. Hang in there. Transitions are every singers right of passage to an even more beautiful voice and ways to express your heart. You're doing beautifully. God bless.
I'm only two years older than you. I am studying in the Vocal Music Department of Xi'an Conservatory of Music. First of all, I can make sure that you have changed a lot. I've had my eye on you since I was a freshman in high school. It's been almost three years now, and my voice has also gone through the process of raising my throat at the beginning, and gradually now I can slowly lower my throat when singing, and my voice becomes more and more natural. And your voice has undergone a huge change. From a child's voice to an adult's voice. And the power remains relatively undiminished. There is an old Chinese saying that if you don't see a scholar for three days, you should look at him with admiration. Not to mention three years. Three years can make a huge difference in people. Hope we can work together in the days to come. In the next three years we will see how much each other has changed. Let’s encourage each other.
A muchos les ha pasado lo mismo,al llegar a la pubertad y han cambiado la voz,se acabo la magia.de todas maneras ha sido un buen interprete.Bravo por el😊
He goes to the right school. They don't make him try to sound like a 30 year old baritone. He kept the same natural voice he had as a child and this voice will develop same time as he does. Bravo!
LIKE! Hello and congratulations!! Beautiful voice continues! You remind me of one of my former choristers who was a soprano soloist and has become a great baritone now!! His name is Régis Mengus (you will easily find it on the internet!!) I am very proud from him and I think your Chef too!! LIKE!
В старом советском фильме есть эпизод. Покупатель в магазине спрашивает: "У вас есть пластинки Робертино Ларетти?" Продавец отвечает: "Нет!". - Почему? -Вырос... А этот парень талантлив.
Quilter's piano accompaniments are always very involved with a lot going on, but the piano is there as accompaniment, apart from the odd solo interlude and a better balance would have been preferable in this very delicate song. What sounds fine in the room often doesn't replicate in recording. Recording your voice provides an invaluable document, not just for the enjoyment of hearing it but also as a learning tool. This is a beautiful song which I have sung many times - I love English Song - and it's wonderful to hear a young singer perform this gem so touchingly. Again, though, a bit of facial expression and reaction to the song would enhance your interpretation. Well done, tho! 👍👍
Sadly, again, the Piano is too overpowering. Cai has a lovely voice, but the Piano is too much. The Piano should be right out of the way, and only there for reference. Again, that Pianist should have known better. BRAVO Cai.
No, in fact he need more power and louder sound in my opinion. But after all, he is only 16 years old. The body's functions have not yet been mobilized. In the future, he will definitely need to completely let go of his voice. Otherwise, his voice has no support and is all hollow. He can take his time, after all, he is only 16 years old!
First, this is a beautiful rendition, no matter how you slice it. Young Mr. Thomas quite obviously has had a great deal of experience and training already. And how many 16 year olds sing Quilter? As far as the balance is concerned, it is quite likely that the fault lies with certain decisions made in the recording process more than anything else. Of course, I can’t absolutely prove this, but to me the piano sounds either over-miced or boosted up in post-production. And one can see how low the microphone for Mr. Thomas is placed. That would have an effect as well. Certainly, time is a friend to the young voice, but what a treat is this performance.! The singer already has command over his instrument, and this is no small feat for a singer of any age. Bravo! DT, M.M., M.S.M.
I don't give compliments idly. When I first heard your changed voice I reacted thinking that you had a fine voice for a chorus but you were not as spectacular as a baritone as you had been as a treble. But this seemed to me to be a real standout as a solo. I think you have a great career ahead as a baritone soloist.
Cai continues to sing beautifully with the new voice. ❤️ I don’t like to be negative, but the pianist is dreadful. Why is the pianist banging out notes with no regard for dynamics and balance?
Absolutely brilliant! Would be even better if he wasn't overpowered by the piano! Give the lad a microphone and some volume!!!! He has a great voice, but the piano drowns him out! Give this lad a chance and let's HEAR HIS VOICE OVER THE PIANO, instead of hearing the piano over the voice - this guy and his voice deserve better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As others have commented: get a better sound engineer!! The piano is too loud and too harsh. I can hardly hear Cai singing. Seriously, you have to do better by him.
Kogo przyszli posluchac .Akompaniatora czy solisty. Niestety tak glosno po uszach daje ze slabo chlopaka slychac.I to nie tylko tutaj .Inne nagrania tez. Szkoda
To me, it doesn't look like you are really enjoying to sing this kind of very serious music anymore. Did you ever consider becoming a pop-singer instead? I mean: Harry Styles is getting pretty old ...
