If you go far back enough in history , the early Britons were probably from Germanic tribes, but were talking ice age/pre bronze age here. However English is bascially a mix of Germ, Frecnh and latin. Welsh is older.
So I have concluded that everyone is here because of wanting to hear what Charles Jones from Let play (The literal best webcomic go read it now) sounds like
I came here like most people who wanted to see how Charles (*cough cough* I know you came here for that too) Jones would generally sound like in his welsh--AND OH TAZ IS HERE I--
@@kaitlynspicer5286 nope if I would go to English class it will be just waste of time, I'm too old to learn grammar again, I hate to learn grammar rules.
The (southern) Welsh accent literally sounds like somebody is Singing a Folk hymn in an ancient Celtic language while using English vocabulary, and I love it!
@caeisokay Hii :D Do you know where this accent in this link channel RU-vid comes from? : ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AAjx1M7SXxQ.html I've seen that the person with this accent on the channel is Welsh but not all her audios contain the same accent, well I think so XD. So I don't know if this one is Welsh or comes from somewhere else in Scotland. I've been searching for so long, 'cause is so cool and I want to learn it. But my English is not so good, so I'm still confuse, 'cause there a lot of accents 😂🙌 *Sorry for the long text* 😅
There are always exceptions. For example, I'm from Minnesota in the United States, and everyone thinks that everyone sounds like the characters from Fargo. Yes, most of the people who live here sound like that, but it's more common in rural areas. In the city where I live, the accent is much less strong, and many of us make an effort to hide our Minnesotan because we want to sound more neutral. But then if I want to make my partner laugh I'll lay it on really thick and start talking like Merle the Chicken Farmer from Brainerd.
I once heard Sir Anthony Hopkins joking that (and I'm paraphrasing a bit) to do a proper Welsh accent one needed to start with an Indian accent and throw in a little bit of Scottish or something.
I am here, again, because I found it so hilarious😂 These guys are great at taking the mic out of each other. My girlfriend is from North Wales and my mates down south refer to her as *the Gogleddian*. I love the coolness of the Gogs. When she takes me to places I make a point in asking her to speak only Cymraeg when ordering stuff in a shop or restaurant. That adds such a cultural and heritage value that we don't have around Cardiff as much. I have recently moved to the valleys and think I am the only Brazilian in Rhondda. Hospitable welcome everywhere, but it still kept me thinking what the locals made of me. For a while, I thought they were pulling my leg and referring to me as a *love-butt*; the ladies greeted me happily with a " 'ayah luv" whilst the fellas uttered a "right budd?", which for me it sounded more like "ripe butt?". I think I have now sussed out the friendly local salutation and find life in the valleys very nice. So, I am now self proclaimed *a Valleyan* ! Watch out! Don't offend the Welsh in front of me, otherwise I'll go 'favela' on you!👍😂
As a scouser I was well into adulthood before working out my accent was in good part derivative of north wales migrants settling in Liverpool over centuries. On a visit to Rhyl and Prestatyn I was struck by weird scouse accents everywhere before realising it was the local accent (listen to Michael Owen the footballer he's from the area). Add in the Irish influence from the 1800s and voila!! - the scouse accent. It used to puzzle me no end because a few miles beyond the city limits the entire area is broad lancashire. The strong "ckkk" sound as in " book and cook pronounced -booockk, cooockk" etc is pure north wales. I used to think we were part arab 😆😆😆
Most English people think the Liverpool accent is derived from Irish pronunciation and they are unaware of the North Wales pronunciation substratum which is also a major contributor.
@@giovanniacuto2688 yes it's weird people don't credit the Welsh influence in Scouse, Scouse sounds just like a type of Welsh accent. Scouse is much more Welsh than Irish
I love Welsh accents so much! And I almost screamed when I saw Taz here, her videos were one of many reasons why I fell in love with Cardiff, she's amazing 💗💗✨

My dad is a Welsh speaking welshman from Anglesey, I had a thousand Welsh great aunties and uncles... the accent there is completely different from this video. I love it. For so long I never realised it was his actual accent (although people told he spoke differently, he was just my dad) when he says things like vi-deh-O! ra-deh-O!(video/radio), or Frewwwt (fruit), I thought he was taking the piss! Love my dad, love his accent, and I love being a (grand)son of Wales (with a Welsh name and a Welsh family name).
My grandfather, born in 1914, had a Valleys Accent. Thought he died in 1981, I can still hear his voice and the wise things he said. I say them myself today.
Welsh standard... LOVE !!! Also dude in red sweater "garlic, mayo, nais" haha loved that imitation. One other reason i love this accent is because many of the words pronounced sound west Indian (Jamaican) so if feels homey! thanks for this video 💕💕

I lived with a lot of roommates when. I lived in Tahoe. 2 were Scottish, 2 were from England and 1 was from Wales. I’m born and raised in Texas and it took me about a couple months to be able to understand them. Lol it’s like a different language
"My Mother worked very hard on me" , Preach, I know what you mean. Also after staying in hostels housing mostly Australians, I've been asked if I'm Irish a lot, they the look at me daft when I say I'm from South Wales.
at 2:30 i get that a lot. When i'm in liverpool i'm asked if i'm welsh and when im in wales i'm asked if i'm from liverpool. Doesnt help i was brought up by Parents who were from liverpoob but brought up in wales all my life.
Wow this is the second time I've watched this video and I happened to look at the comments.... Lol I literally thought I was the only one wanting to know how Charles voice sounded 😭😂💀 im dying lmfao guess its nice to not be the only one
i heard i joke about welsh from my English friend that if all of the people in wales got together in a circle and held hands and jumped at the same time it would have been the most fun they would have ever had
Oooo I’m from Llanelli, omg I can’t I’m from Llanelli and I can’t breathe lol 😂😂❤️❤️❤️❤️ also hey click from tagz. I speak welsh too, but I’m a Swansea gal nowwww
I heard a welsh accent early today on someone's stream. I thought Scottish was difficult to understand. I don't know what kind of words Welsh be spittin'. Cool accent! Just I don't have the ear for it lmao
We always take the piss out of each other for how we sound. And we bicker about who sounds 'the most' Welsh (by the way, Cardiff and Newport people are basically English.
I love them all ! The welsh accent is beautiful, like singing, when they go up and down with the voice ! The more they sing. the more I like it ! :-)))
Wish I had more of an accent. Was brought up on the fringes of the Valleys but my Mum's family are all from Buckinghamshire so my accent doesn't really sound too Welsh. I've been told I sound everything from West Country to Hereford/ Gloucestershire to even Norfolk once. It's a bit of a shame because my Dad's family all have noticeable accents but I don't
same, all my family are from Cardiff but i was brought up in Monmouthshire so i have a pretty neutral accent which is a shame. my girlfriend has a strong welsh accent which i find hard to understand sometimes haha.
2:45 "In uni, there was a girl from North Wales and she just sounded European to me." I know what she was trying to say, but isn't the United Kingdom in Europe? Lol
first time i ever heard reference to the Welsh v English identity debate was in the film "The Trip" ...which, if you're an American Anglophile like myself, i highly recommend 👍🏼 my husband and i watched it on the flight to London and laughed so hard we were in tears 😂 trying not to laugh so loudly as to disturb or awaken other passengers.
As you can see there are lots of different Welsh accents whether you are in North,West, South or Central Wales, it's not that easy to learn as Welsh has a different alphabet & many letters are not pronounced the same as in English..

My problem is that I'm from Wrexham (also known as the outskirts of Liverpool) , but I was blessed with not picking up the accent but I now sound English which confuses Welsh speakers because they assume I can't speak Welsh.
