Little wonder the 71 lions succeeded, they had the best backline by far, but the centre combination of Gibson and Dawes was the pivot. Gibson, already a wonderful rugby player, seemed to flourish on that tour. Two gifted thinkers of the game, with attacking skills to match.

It seems odd that Carwyn James didn't rate even a passing mention.

2nd greatest try ever: JPR's toward the end of the Barbarian's match. More handling over all. Then there's Morgan mentioning the player's country while the ball was being passed about. It was as if he was saying these are the Lions. It wasn't from nearly under the posts on the one end to the try at the other, but it was a movement that took several minutes.
