After a ton of research and ending with quite a few of your videos over the last year I pulled the trigger on a T2 Tac and T17 with the 3S Hat Clip and a Thyrm Switchback 2.0 + Thyrm Low-Profile. I'm a big believer in buy once cry once and believe these will last. Edit: thinking about it, I got all this for the a few dollars over a Modlite PLHv2
Thanks, Mike, for giving us a clear picture of a perfect flashlight! As expected, it's a perfect rational output and runtime. Thank you, Weltool, for making this flashlight possible in the absurdity of the lumens war.
I love lights like this that have a practical and useful output with solid runtimes. I'm sick of the lumen wars and lights that put out 3000 lumens.....for 35 second then step down to 800 lumens for 5 mins then down to 300 lumens. The other light that shocked me was that topgun light you reviewed. 500 lumens for 6 hours is insane. Even for a night shift police officer the sun will be up before the topgun flashlight dies. 🔦
Totally agree bro. Too many marketing tactics in lights these days. Weltool never really got bogged down with those lumen wars. This light is perfect mate. TopGun torches also make a bloody great utility light.
Thanks for the info i just got mine and cant wait for it to come in. I working in the oilfield and batterylife means a lot to me it was a no brainer for me on this
The website say it maintains the 600 lumens for two hours. I suppose there is a step down after that. I just ordered one and am excited because the electronics are potted. Probably with epoxy like the Elzetta lights? This will be my fourth Weltool light thanks to this channel. I am also flashlight crazy. I went for the 6500? Rendition. I like the brightest white light for the city.
I do see how practical it is. It fits what it was made to do. That being said, for my needs. I need high candela at times. Again, I do understand why that light is so practical for most. Weltools are well made.
Question, I just got the T17 and put in a Keypower button top protected 18650 and now I get nothing. It came on high and when I went to put it in low mode, nothing happened. Now, even with the included INR battery I get nothing. Is there any kind of lockout or anything that needs to be done or do you know of any issues using protected cells?
Hey Flashlight Crazy, did you have issues with the switchback tearing O-rings on the T 17? I've only had it about two hours and noticed it's ripped up the first O-ring, which was replaced and it's also ripped another one. It compliments this light well, but it seems to rip up the O-ring lowest and closest to the head.
great review again, any chance you could do a video for us noobs in a bit more detail on the different types of LED's and LEP, lenses and reflectors etc and how they all work together to make a great light?
Looking to buy this because of your review. Can’t decide between the 5000k or the 6500k. I do like cool white light though. Really like how it can also accept the thyrm ring out of the box. Really do appreciate you demonstrating how to install the thyrm ring. Do you think I can also use this for home defense if I had too? Or do you recommend another weltool for me?
How does the low mode feel om the T17? Tempted to buy this as a potential replacement for the T19 cuz when both have sufficient reach for me on high mode, the T17 has double the runtime for same throw once the T19 steps down to 1100lm (but T17 will have less peripheral illumination due to difference in raw output). But the low mode of the T17 seems like I'd be better off whipping out a secondary EDC instead for both indoors and outdoors. BUT it's so well made. Been on the fence for months but I can't decide lol, don't wanna get another light that will get retired to the shelf cuz there's enough there already.
Just ordered mine today … is the charger it comes with usb c ? Do you know if the Weltool chargers “smart chargers” ? Don’t want want this battery blowing up since it’s unprotected
The charger is USB-C The charger has a cut-off voltage limit of 4.2V But i strongly suggest to NOT leave ANY unprotected cell on charge if you are not home to remember to check it.
Not at the moment, but I will speak to Danny (the owner) and see if he can give me a coupon code for my viewers. Stay tuned to the description of this video and I will put it in there if he says yes.
If price and output are your only concerns maybe Wurkkos or Sofirn will be more in line with your values. The runtime and regulation and UI is what makes this light worth the money.
