Wow, this was a fantastic and complete review. This is probably one of the most comprehensive reviews I have ever seen. Yeah, its a bit long but for anyone who wants to know every aspect of this generator this is perfect. Thanks for leaving out the unboxing (man, dislike that!). Thank you for sharing your video. It really helps. I like yourselves have been shopping and exploring the best fit for my needs. I decided the Wen DF400I was the best. I liked the propane or gas use. They other just gas version wasn’t available for nearly a year of not being in stock. This one came out and it sold out from manufacture so fast. But I found one on Amazon, timing was good for me because the next Sadat they were sold out. I’m eager to get mine up and running. Your video will help Me a lot! You are very thorough. Love it!

Thanks for your videos! I just purchased the generator this morning on Amazon without really looking at any reviews. Then I found your videos and wow...I'm glad I bought this generator! It looks perfect for our camper. We have a Winnebago Micro Minnie and I wanted a generator strong enough to run the AC. The dual propane/gas feature is super cool and thank you for demonstrating the hook up directly to the rv. We will probably use that feature. Thanks again for a great review!

Comment about the fuel shutoff…. It still leaves a few teaspoons of gas in the carburetor bowl. The best way to drain fuel out of the carburetor for storage is to use the drain screw on the bottom of the carburetor bowl.

u guys are great. i have the same one and i love it but we also have 2 solar back up generators with the solar panels just incase we run out of gas an propane with solar as u well know its endless power where there is sun lol if ya have overcast not so much we love boon docking thats why we went that route

Great video. I changed the oil in my wen 3 times, each after 1 hour of running. First 2 were pretty ugly, 3rd was pretty good so I'm going to let it go to 10hrs total before the next change. I also have a predator 3500, got a little over 300 hours on it, i think the wen is quieter and definitely is lighter. I like the predator display better, easier to see and you can change the display with a button.

Thanks. good video. A bonding plug (connects the ground and neutral together) inserted into one of the 120 vac outlets might allow the surge guard protector to have green lights and allow power to pass through it to the camper's electrical system.

Considering one of these for use with our travel trailer and other use. I currently have a Champion but it's not an inverter style so it is LOUD. Never used it to camp for that reason even though it is capable of powering the camper. When have so many models. I am not worried about remote start but electric start would be good. Also not sure if I would use the propane feature or not but tempted to get the dual fuel model just for the flexibility. Definitely a cool feature when it comes to extending the run time.

You may of heard you know to get a neutral gnd receptical plug to get the bonding without driving a ground rod. Good review.!

I found a WEN 3600i on marketplace for $200. It looks like it was stolen from a consrtruction site but it works great for me lol. They are certainly louder on these videos that they are in person.

Hello from Ouray. New subscriber here. Thank you for doing a video on your generator! It is very informative. We have an Outdoors RV trailer that should arrive in a couple of weeks. We plan to exclusively boondock for the next 5 years on 1-2 week trips monthly. Then, we will push out for 1-2 months to focus on exploring specific regions in the country. I will install a robust solar set up. But, I will want a generator for charging back up , as well as for any a/c days. I am all over the map with regards to what generator solution to get. I would love to just get a smaller 2200-2500 watt generator and put a soft start on the a/c. Of course, that may not cut it in the higher elevations. I would love to get a 2200 w Honda. But, if we eventually needed 2, that would be big bucks. So, The other option is for an off brand smaller one and could get another later if we needed to parallel the power. And as you have highlighted, one of these 3000+ watt options will just do the job, for sure. The Wen 3800 gas and 4000 dual fuel look like they are awesome. They have all of the features I would want. My only objection is the 100lbs. I can carry those now, no problem. But, no telling in the future. I see you have already passed through the San Juan Mountains. So, maybe can meet up if you return again. Our forest roads will close in a few weeks. So, I think our shake out trips will mostly be to the west towards the UT desert. Safe travels!

Thanks for your review, if I may, I've been told that you should never plug into your generator until it has warmed up and settled down. Apparently it may Harm the inverter doing that. Do you know if the generator switching over to gasoline automatically is just a Wen feature or do all duel fuels do that???

Can you tell me if the df400i is holding up well & if it runs your trailer well on propane with the lower wattage as well as if it is working well connected directly to the RV Propane regulator? I have been looking for a good quiet generator for backup if we lose electricity at the campground as just happened recently & really want to be able to hook to existing quick connect on RV? I am going with the RYOBI 4000-Watt Gasoline Powered Digital Inverter Generator with CO Shutdown, it is half the price of the Wen @ Home Depot. Hard decision, but I need to replace my water heater & I'm running out of money.

How is it holding up and always remember to make sure it’s on flat surfaces mo grass or dirt surfaces if so you might want to put a board underneath your welcome!

The 3800 hundred wen is 200 more running watts.runing watts is what ya need to go off.but yes I understand haven the propane option.

Great video and thank you. Only thing I would add is I prefer to break in all of my small engines with conventional oil and usually stick to it afterwards unless the manufacturer specifically says it's ok for any synthetics.

when you connect to rv propane you have no regulator, does this cause isseus.. i just ordered this genset, delivery tomorrow. good job

Good coverage but how long will it run 1/2 load on propane? I have used various inverter generators, they are all the same the displays soon go bonkers, but 1/2 load on a tank of gas it should run 15 to 20 hours (multiply the tank gallons by fuel cost for cost per hour)

Not sure if anyone let you know why you had a open neutral yet. You need to purchase or make a plug that will bond the neutral & the error will go away.

I read that unless your generator states you can use synthetic oil it should not be assumed you can as you can damage internal parts. Just wondering

Great video and nice generator. Ever thought installing a soft start on your a/c? It's a game changer. Your generator would work less and you can use the extra watts for other things. Just a thought check it out.

It has a meter. It should tell you what htz and voltage you are getting from the propane from your trailer.

Be careful about Carbon Monoxide Poisoning! 10 Feet isn't far enough away from the trailer! Your generator needs to be at least 23 or 25 feet away
