Thanks for this review. I just ordered this same unit. I already have the hose kit so I should be good. Thanks for pointing out the issue with the wire filter. I will probably be using this for a number of tools including my wood lathe which could conceivably cause some clogging issues so I may remove the wire mesh as well...but for $108 it's a small price to pay and an extra bonus because it is mostly steel instead of plastic.
Thanks for the review. It answered my question about the clogging screen. As far as using a cyclone along with it from what I have read on Amazon it doesn't work. It lowers the CFM too much
Welcome, yes to low cfm to use cyclone. It does good with everything in my shop except when I plane wide boards and then it's just too much to chip at one time
You could get a cyclone system to hook to it. That would catch all the large chips and leave it in the bucket. You would get very little dust into the bag and only have to change the bucket on a regular basis.
Question for you are you still using your WEn dust collector. If so, would you recommend it and how does it work with your joiner and planer? Thank you for your time.
Love your review. What do think of this dust collector after you set it up in your work shop . Is there enough suction from your planer . table saw etc .. Thanks
This is awesome! Thank you! i just recently purchased the same dust collector and it started sounding weird. I am just a newbie at woodworking. I am thinking using a dust deputy to collect bigger chunks - what do you think?
Hate to tell you bud, but wen tools are definitely made in China, they have a warehouse in Illinois and California where they stock units and parts, but made in China. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Brother with all do respect, you just spent over 20 minutes telling us nothing about this unit. I know no more about it than when I clicked on your video. I subscribed hoping you have much better information to offer.
I have a harbor freight 1 hp hooked up to a dedicated wood carving downdraft table and it works excellent. Been using tools for 50 years and many times a POS is just right.
Been using the harbor freight dust collector for 3 years now on my bandsaw, planer, & jointer. I can be a bit of a tool snob too but I've been completely satisfied with the performance of that machine. I've been burned on some other "cheap" tools in the past. That is not one of them.
