I met Mary Scott at a Winston Cup presentation in Winston Salem and she signed a Wendell Scott cap for me. We talked about so many things about Wendell, the racing and the life led. I can say to this very day I loved that lady like my own mom and I always tried to keep her close in my heart. The Scott family are very wonderful folks and Wendell in the NASCAR Hall of Fame is well deserved.

Anything but a big thumbs up for this one is beyond belief. What a man, what a driver he was. No major sponsorship and yet he excelled. We all know who the real rookie of the year was in `61 no matter what. A true Champion and Hall Of Famer

God bless the family of Wendell Scott and thanks to them for supporting and cheering on him on. Thank you Kyle for bringing this on and exposing the great person Wendell Scott was. Also a cheer for the underdogs, we need them. How to express this is difficult because of our history in treatment of folks that are not white. Thank god racial relations are more tolerate today then in the past 2 centuries.

One has to ask where would NASCAR be without the likes of the Independents like Wendell Scott, JD McDuffie Ralph Earnhardt. or even owners like Junie Donlavy? All were honest working people who shared a love of the sport and tried to make it better the best way they could!

I'll never forget watchin' Wendell pulling off the track, jack it up and fix something under the car. Get back in and roar back out there. Other times, I could see the disappointment on his face. I went through all that as a racer myself in my youth. The thrill of victory & the agony of defeat. One weekend your the hero of the day, next time you're a bum. But we still love it with a passion just the same. You are sorely missed, Wendell.

Even though my heart lies in drag racing, I've been a NASCAR fan since the late 70s. I learned how to build engines helping my uncle in his shop and on dirt ovals in Northwest Ohio. Even at 50 years old, I'm too young to have seen Wendell Scott on the track, however, I've been fascinated by him since seeing the movie with Richard Pryor. I'd love to send a donation to help re-open the museum. How can I contact them?

There were a lot of great moments in this interview, but when Kyle learned his dad had sent Wendell a couple of checks after the Talladega wreck, was pretty awesome. Wendell Scott experienced all his racing accomplishments on his own, without a sponsor. How many championships could he have won if he would have had a little financial help? Thanks Kyle for sharing the history. A special thanks to his son and grandson for sharing their history. I am going to check out the Wendell Scott Foundation!

Wendell Scott the definition of a racer. If only attitudes of the corporate world was different back then and backed Wendell the history books would read alot differently than what it does now. Wendell Scott could drive like no other and as said in interview here Scott could do more with nothing more so than anyone else imagine the things he would of done with sponsorship money and people having his back.

This has to be one of if not my favorite episode. I have the book written about Wendell. I was always intrigued about the man. Not because of his color, but what made him tick. Prior to reading the book, I only knew he was the first black driver in NASCAR . How he managed to get through those tough times. What made him want to race. If you haven’t read the book, I highly recommend doing so. There is so much more to Wendell Scott than the color of his skin. Great interview! I enjoyed watching

Earl Brooks was my cousin. Hos son Earl Brooks Jr built my first race car. Hos other son Ervin still carries on his legacy with a replica of Earl's #26 car. Earl didn't take crap of anyone either. Wendell was a great man.
