Wow What Memories I Remember Watching This Show With My Dad When I Was A Kid Wendy Was Great She Died Way Too Young She Was Only A Couple Of Years Older Than Me w
I remember Nashville on the Road very clearly. Wendy was awesome on the banjer. Her daddy taught plus that the fact she was a hard working banjo picker. I'd love to met her. She was inspiration for me to want to pick up the banjo myself, thanks Wendy. She was only 2 years younger than me. I miss hearing her. Best Wishes LittleCountryDJ
I never missed watching Wendy on the Country Boy Eddie Show when I was a kid. I was fortunate enough to meet her at the ground breaking ceremony at The King's Ranch for boys and girls home when I was 9 yrs. old.....she was a sweetheart :)
Wendy was also on a very short lived sitcom called "Lewis and Clark" back in the early 80s. It starred Gabe Kaplan. It was about a guy from New York who uprooted his family to move to Texas and buy a country western night club.
I saw her playing years ago at a country music hangout that we went to on saturday nights called Indian Ford Lodge on Shades Mountian around the time she was signing contracts for Nashville on the road. They made her stop playing there and everyone was sad about it But I've got fun memories talking to her and her brother "Muley " ( never knew his real name ). I remember being a bit star struck because she had already been on TV around town and in Nashville. Cool memories !!!
Wendy was always on TNN's "Nashville Now" and the Opry broadcasts, and was always popular with audiences. Pretty girl and hellacious banjo player who died in her early 20s.
@nowucme62 Muley's real name was Billy. As I understand it, he got the name "Muley" when Wendy was trying to teach him to play the upright bass. He wouldn't co-operate, leading her to exclaim, "He won't learn this thing! He's just plain muley!" (Wendy told that story on herself in an interview.) She would appear on TV in Birmingham (including the "Country Boy Eddie Show") whenever she could.
