That's not how I heard it. Elton John got offended because Tina wanted him to play Proud Mary a certain way, and he told her "Don't you tell me how to play the piano." She said that judging from the way he blew up about it, she knew they wouldn't be able to work together after that and she canceled the tour.
This is exactly what happened, she also said he missed the rehearsals and that nobody tells Elton how to play HIS piano (I am positive that’s the aura he gave off). The nerve of him to want to play her songs how HE wants too and then lie on Tina about it.
This makes WAY more sense! Like why would Tina just show up and say “ugh, don’t wear those suits, they make you look fat and your piano is ugly!!” Like, what??? 😂😂😂😂
by the way, the fight that mr. John refers to in his book did not happen in 1996. It happened in 1999. They're planning a 2000 tour together. She cancelled, not him.
She did cancel. And they were at the VH-1 Diva's concert. She was telling him how to do her song and Elton didn't like it and saying to Tina nobody tells me how to play my piano! But it was her song not his.
Elton threw an unprofessional tantrum when Tina was trying to tell him how she likes Proud Mary to be played, and she had to get him together. It's funny how he started it and is trying to play the victim all these years later.
He was not used to being told how to play. He was saying she did not address people by name. Tina was known to be very tough in rehearsals.. much like her ex husband. They are showmen. Elton has offended many in his day
You got it all wrong Windy. He flipped out because she called him out on the way he was playing his piano during rehearsal to proud mary. She cancelled the tour because they wouldn't get along.
Its a shame because hind sight is 20/20. He could rock it and she could sing it. Personally I think it just came down to the opener/headliner debacle. They are both divas. I have no doubt in my mind they could make absolutely blessed music. But I can see where they butted heads. Proud Mary must have been the tip of the iceberg. Ive seen them do it together, of course it would work. It was just two brilliant musicians too damned scornful for their own good (see: D I V A) yeah, back in 96 or 2000, they clashed. Oh but now we all know we'd kill for that tour, and I hope that's the takeaway. They're all happy in their swiss castles, lets be happy for them. I know deep in my heart they were only after the perfect show, and do you know what? We, the audience, robbed ourselves of that. Of course they could both rock it, we've seen it. Personally, I see them both agonizing on changes and choruses and just finally settling on "ugh sorry we cant do this it just doesnt work", and thats what non musicians dont get. If it doesnt work, it doesnt work. Would you rather two icons set a low bar for sales or just say "hey we tried but cant". I see the latter, not the former, and definitely nothing to shake a stick at. They were just tryna please all y'all greasy fucks and realized the chemistry wasnt there. That's professionalism if you ask me, not the other way around.
Are you actually serious to mark the greatest woman of rock ‘n’ roll even though you’re making a joke ladies of dignity and elegance I’ve never seen argue with anyone but she is tough and she stands behind her
I watched Tina Turner Divas 99 and Elton looked Salty asf but I didn’t know why until I watched an interview with Tina talking about it, I honestly never knew Elton John was like that as I was a fan of Elton, it’s disappointing to know he can takes tantrums like a baby.
Thats not exactly how it happened. Tina talked about it in an interview on CBS. She was telling Elton how to play Proud Mary and he got upset at her, yelled, and screamed and stormed off during rehearsals for the Vh1 Divas concert. She felt it was too close to her past being in that kind of uncomfortable situation so she decided against the tour. Elton did calm down and apologized.
@@Rozziefeatherschneider You weren't there either dummy but you still believe her over Elton John. Tina has a history of lying and Elton's story makes more sense.
@@Titicacaberryjuice No dummy. She lied because she said that the argument was about him being offended because she tried to tell him how to play the piano. That didn't happen. The argument was about her calling him fat not about how he was playing the piano.
Note that Tina and Elton performed The Bitch is Back first in VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards in 1995. They also performed the song in VH1 Divas Live 1999. The feud however happened during their rehearsal of Proud Mary but later reconciled.
From what I've observed of Tina's character, Elton was probably the problem. I'm sure she must have felt after living years of contention with Ike was not going to lead into any more moments of that without anyone else. Tina had more years in the business than Elton. I know her thing was being able to control what she sang and how she sang it.
i know!! i miss hearing about the killer and all that paranoia was real i really feel that husband Kevin has something to do with her health conditions
He’s just so sensitive..... but not that sensitive when he speaks bad about others! He’s got beautiful songs, but he’s persona? ^quote from Tina > go straight to hell (Ike) >> Elton
His persona is just fine. He supported this old woman to sing with him and supports many many other musicians. And she thinks she can tell him how to dress or if he's fat or not. He says nothing. But after that she gets so excited, she thinks she can tell Elton john how to play the piano. Look how awkward she moves here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Eb-70HObnpU.html at 1:17. So she has 2 good songs but her persona? 🥴
@@enta2 you clearly have shit in your eyes …. That alright, I don’t blame you! He is known for being a bitch and not getting along and when he can’t win, he starts being the drama queen! Yes he can play the piano but when he is out of key or whatever, it’s her right to say NO I don’t want it the sound that way, PERIOD!
Wendy is only reporting what HE wrote in his book. But there is that other story of her asking him to play Proud Mary a certain way. 2 different stories. But shes talking about the one in his book.
Some of you shouldn’t be so judgemental of Elton. For a reason I know that he is a kind, generous, funny and loyal soul. And even though I love Tina, there is a dominant, difficult side of her personality, too, that the general public doesn’t know about…
Damn u wendy u r the only one on the face of this miserable plant who can make a simple story funny dramatic and delicous gossiping with u is the best miss u queen 🎉
Truth be told is that both Tina and Elton could be divas. Decades ago some friends of mine from Ottawa Canada were going to Farmyard Studios owned by Rupert Hines to record their first album (Eight Seconds) but at one time while recording they were told they would have to vacate the studio for a week as Tina was going to be recording in one of the studios and she didnt want anyone else there despite they were using a different studio. Also Corey Hart was there recording and he had to temporarily vacate also.
On the Divas special they sang THE BITCH IS BACK. When the song was over ,Tina said YEAH THE BITCH IS BACK with that big smile on her face. Yup,she was reading him😅
It was good seeing Wendy Williams on here with all of her craziness, humor, hearing and seeing her facts being off just alittle bit. I Miss Wendy Williams.
Sir Elton John didn't cancel, it was Tina Turner that decline, Tina said in an interview that she was trying to get Elton to play Proud Mary the way she has always performed it, it's her trademark and her signature song that she wanted to stick to, evil Creedence Clearwater snow to play it's in the style of Tina Turner when they prayed alongside with her and they are the ones that invented the song, they have respect for each other,, Ike and Tina Turner made it a Hit and it became famous with the electrifying performance, Elton thought it would be a good idea to put in some runs and ripps in it giving it an a gospel type sound or a bluesy sound , Tina said she has song in a gospel/bluesy style when she was with Ike doing the yelling and screaming, she is now and has been a rock and roll and alternative singer for decades... yes I think Tina may have pointed out some things because she felt they were friends, and maybe Elton thought he could style things up with this runs and ripples oh, so he got upset with kidney and she corrected them know this is not how we're going to do it which he could have said it the same way, no Tina in not thing to change my appearance instead of getting an attitude and blowing it out of proportion sayings stick that some of your anus
I know that all things Tina are being viewed anew right now but I don't believe airing a feud Tina had with Elton is a very respectful way to honor her amazing memory. Obviously I did not know her but from the little I do know Tina was all about forgivness and putting the past behind her. R.I.P Anna!
I Heard About this 4 Days ago and I Was Like WTF? I Wanted to Comment then but Couldn't and Thanks for Posting this because NOW I can Comment.. This has to be a Joke, Ok Lets Just say for Example She did tell him that, If so She was only going in on Him After HE Went in on Her About Proud Mary. BUT As for her just Coming out and Purposely Telling him that NOPE I DON'T BELIEVE IT, And Furthermore Whether it happened in 1996 OR as Somebody Commented 1999 Either way its Over 20 Years Ago, I Cant Understand Why People Wait 20 Something Years Later to Vent and Bring up Past Situations that makes them the Victims...
kaharold youtubed it ! Vh1 tina elton feud! Its 99 Beacuse tina turner at the time when elton said it is on tour her own with the bond song and 23 months 234 tour in all over the world! I hate him Beacuse he was a fucking idiot spoiled fucking idiotic jackass! After his 87 voice surgery he sound like a fucking fart! Not a singer ! 70 and looks like 10000 and what so ever he had a long dick ! So fuck yourself elton!
I know I'm late to the game and I posted somewhere below, in case anybody calls me out for being redundant. Just hear me out: Think of it this way. These professional musicians dont bow down to anything in the slightest. I'm not saying this is the gospel, but there's a lot of Elton John bashing, a lot of "Well Tina said during rehearsals...." Guys, the industry is made to sell records. They are both industry people. When the story is told to me, I dont see two divas butting heads, as the narrative would like it to be. I see this: They rehearsed, found their chemistry wasnt on point, and parted ways, like professionals. The national enquierer bullshit is just to keep us, the common folk, on our toes. These people know what they are doing. Its not a question of whether Elton John can rock Proud Mary, we've seen he can. I just see two old artists who realized it would be a gimmick to come out to thousands of people and did a service to US when, during rehearsals, decided it wouldnt work. To blame either party is a shame, blame the fucking industry. Not Elton John OR Tina Turner. When you do that, the record companies win.
Rather than focus on one song, I tend to believe they did a bunch of songs and just realized "ugh what are we doing?" And hugged and said sorry. They do have that "F You" money after all.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MJYJnzA-HlM.html To set the record straight. I'm sure if there were any inaccuracies, Mr John would have thrown yet another fit I suppose.
Mmmm..... You left out how she treated his band like shit and acted like a diva before Elton John finally lost it. He later apologized but SHE cancelled the tour.
Elton is catty… musicians don’t treat other musicians like that? Bish please… he’s trashed dozens of other musicians before. I would trust Tina over Elton.
