Don't know if I'd use the work unlucky but it was a game of fine margins that could've gone either way. However, I did some promising signs. We looked more solid defensively (even though we conceded twice) and I can see what ETH wants to do with his transitional play
I think united had a good game, it's just fine margins. Attackers need to be more clinical. It's disappointing to see us concede 2 goals from the back post. Mount is absolutely valuable to the high pressing and turnover. But the team already looks better than last season. Calling it a collapse is over exaggeration
I honestly think what happened is the fact that we had 2 leads and a 3-1 scoreline scratched off the players lost their head and started chasing the game, it's understandable given the manor in which the second goal at least was taken away. They lost their heads late on, it won't be a recurring theme. We deserved to win the game and the lady luck was WELL against us. It happens.
It reminds me a bit of when England played German and lampards clear goal wasn't given over the line. The players lost their heads and we ended up getting battered in the end by German despite being dominant beforehand. This was similar.
Unlucky no .. should they have won yes ... bad defending for both goals almost school boy stuff . Poor finishing and not quite getting the final ball right ... i dont know why garnacho didnt start instead of rashford ... snd i thought mount was having a decent game and hes taken off ..
@@Wink99398 it's not necessarily the winning...it's some sort of progression I would like to see, except that won't happen. He has zero man management skills (as advertised by his dealing of Ronaldo and Sancho). He has very little tactical nouse (as advertised by his poor team selections). He has no game management (as advertised by his poor substitutions). The Dutch style of management doesn't suit EPL football, it's sterile and consevative (name me a successful Dutch Manager in the EPL). This season will be the ultimate judgement, but I will doubt he will get past Xmas before the sack. We've already lost one game (against Brighton who are a better than average team, granted) and it's not good enough. INEOS have backed him in the transfer mkt and that means he has a stay of execution, but imo, it's only a matter of time.
Let’s be honest playing for United is not easy these players are under huge amt of stress as opposed to playing for any other club the players are scared to take risk, loose the ball etc cause of how jumpy the fan base is so as a result they’re not playing free flowing football for example lakers I’ve seen players rain 3s for another basketball teams until they wear that purple and gold and line up next to lebron lol not everyone can deal with that amt of pressure
No Brighton had so many missed chances including the Welbeck chance and the goal line clearance. Apart from that Zirkzee offside goal, United didnt do too much
You're right but man united played much better than Brighton, especially in the first half. United lost the game, but it was a good performance against a team that has been dominating them for the past couple of years. 2 badly defended goals against them. In the end its all about getting the 3 points
Garnacho's disallowed goal, Amad's counter-attack chance, Rashford's offside chance, Bruno's chance that bounced funny and hit his knee. United did way more than Brighton, they just weren't clinical.
Hit the bar means it was never going in, proof is that it didnt go in Cleared off the line is good defending United 2nd goal is 100% going in and Brighton defenders werent in position to clear it.
87.6% pass completion. The Amad goal and Garancho offside goal came from Onana's ball forward. If you're going to be critical at least watch the game first.
At this point, I think any winger is better than Rashford. The backing he has got just because he is a Brit is unbelievable. The club, the fans and the players all suffer because of a selected favourites of the manager. I’ve seen this movie 4 times before so won’t be surprised if by the winter we won’t have an hashtag of ETH out.
Frustrated as to why the framing of this match is always about Man Utd and where they went wrong. Nothing about Brighton, their success, or how good they are, despite the fact that Brighton have done ths to Man Utd 5 times in the last 3 years. Brighton are a better side than Man Utd.
Because to many (every non United fan) (with the exception of Brighton fans, Brighton are irrelevant and people only care about United, despite how well they’re own team might be doing, United losing makes their weekend, probably tops it, regardless of their own team result
The team did ok but erica desicion making was questionable, bruno upfront and garna benched🙈🤔then takes them both off when there on,maguire and casemiro are to blame for the goals conceded
Brighton deserved the win... as a utd fan ETH made this game difficult from start to finish. We rely on moments & opposition mistakes.... ETH is deluded when he talks abt us creating good chances....many times we were well offside stupidly & the chances created were barely half chances. We deserved the loss but ETH cannot make such errors again otherwise he'll be gone by xmas. His favouritism of Maguire, Rashford & Mount is going to be his downfall
We were the better team up until that Welbeck goal. A goal that shouldn’t have been if Maguire would’ve dealt with it like he was suppose too. All in all United was the better team up until the subs that ten hag made. That was the decisive part of the game. If he didn’t made those subs we would’ve walked away with a draw. And a point away at Brighton is not a bad result.
You don't expect Brighton to win in a dominating fashion anyway, fact that Man U lost while having much less shots on target, Drawing Fulham with a last minute goal, dude Ten Hag is not the guy, they gonna be in the same situation they were a year ago at the end of the season.
To every other fanbase, United aren’t allowed to be unlucky because United dropping points is everyone’s favourite past time(probably more important than their own teams result). But people forget, last season how many times did we hear, “United got lucky”, “they didn’t deserve to win” every time there was a good result. But for some reason when it happens the other way, everyone’s quick to jump and say no they weren’t unlucky and get 0 sympathy. Can’t have it both ways
@@effkay3691 I didn't watch any of those games so you'll have to tell me - did any of them have a well worked goal disallowed just because it touched a knee millimeters before crossing the line?
@@kw8263 I was just coming up with names of teams that were extraordinarily lucky. I’m on your side. Chelsea, 6 lucky goals. Spurs were bloody lucky, City always lucky but United always unlucky. How unlucky were United to leave 2 Brighton players at the back post waiting for a cross? But hey, let’s talk about Zirkzee not knowing the offside rule. How unlucky?
@@JYPapinok? Did you see Aston Villa v arsenal by any chance? Villa should’ve been 2 or 3 up by half time but Watkins had a bad game. So what’s your point? Are villa not unlucky then no? But because it’s man United they’re not allowed to be unlucky right? Thick comment right there
@@JYPapin Hit the bar means it wasnt on target and was never going in. Proof, it didnt go in Cleared off the line by the defending player means good defending Uniteds disallowed goal was because a UNITED player knocked it over the line by accident. Not a defending player Both of those Brighton chances were not going in, Uniteds 2nd was always going as it was on target and no Brighton player could clear it off the line Dalot being switched on doesnt mean Brighton deserved a goal
I'm tired of hearing everyone throw around that "We're not ready" statement and using it out of context. Ten Hag said it in a sense that he isn't ready for the league to start because he doesn't have the full squad he wants, which means having all of his players back and fit, and have all the signings he wanted. Why do you think he had to correct everyone and say he is ready because his comment is being taken out of context.
United have a serious allergy to putting the ball into the back of that net. Once they get over that allergy, they’ll be beating teams by 2, 3 + goals. The amount of wasted chances is what will kill them if they don’t start taking their opportunities. If Rashfords goal wasn’t given offside or Garnacho’s, the game would have went in a different direction. Need to improve. I think the best way for United to do that is by starting Zirkzee up front. He gets into the right positions as we’ve seen the past two games. Maguire is playing well but I would start De Ligt and start building the partnership between Martinez and De Ligt. I think Mazaroui should play LB as Dalot is much better as a RB.
Once I saw the starting lineup I knew the game was lost. Three bad decisions lost us the game: 1. Starting Rashford over Garnacho. That was a dumb call 2. Starting Maguire over De Ligt. A barely fit De Ligt is a hundred times better than a fully fit Maguire. 3. Subbing off Mount and then Bruno. Mount’s relentless pressing blunted Bright’s midfield so well. When he left Brighton got into high rhythm and we couldn’t shut it down. I would’ve subbed off Bruno earlier (for Josh) and moved Mount to number 10.
Is an injured De Ligt who's out for 3 weeks better than a fully fit Maguire? Because that's what happens when you start "barely fit" players. Case in point, Leny Yoro.
Seems like the start with a false 9 is not working. If they have Zirkzee fit enough for 50 odd minutes then he should start. No point picking out individual mistakes.
You guys are overreacting. If zirkzees goal doesn’t get disallowed then united win 2-1 and you guys who are lurking in the shadows keep your mouths shut 🤷♂️
Question is how many Brighton players joined for pre season in the last week how many Brighton players got to the latter stages of the Euros and Copa America this has a major impact United had 8 players join late Brighton maybe 1-2
They weren't unlucky. They fully deserved to lose. Mainly because of the manager. He took off his most creative player and they weren't creating big chances or any chances. I don't feel sorry for them and can see a hammering next Sunday Man United 1-4 Liverpool. Just like in 2009
How many players does Brighton have going on international duties that have to break from the rest of the team? on the other hand Brighton can start training with their full squad from earlier in the preseason to get ready as a team for the season
What a total load of biased crap unlucky, the player was offside! Brighton had more shots, hit the post and had a ball cleared of the line. This was nothing like Brightons strongest team on the pitch, they have so many new players to bring in and will only get stronger and stronger as the season progresses . We should be discussing how good Brighton are and not such a waste of space Utd are. Btw the Albion's total spend this window will be over 200 mil and not 140. Pathetic reporting.
@@timphillips9954 When did you hit the post? The ball off the line barley crossed the 6 yard line lol, And let's ignore Rashford was offside by a boat and Zirkzee by a kneecap and if he didn't touch it would be a certain goal.
Brighton has a good club structure for years. It doest matter who the coach is . Potter, de Zerbi and now this new young coach. We all know the story why United dont have that for over more than 10 years. I mean. Where are Potter and de Zerbi know ?
@@timphillips9954 unlucky in that Zirkzee knew he was offside and tried to get his legs out of the way, but the ball touched him millimeters before crossing the line Edit: also want to add that it was absolutely NOT poor play. Zirkzee was the central striker so he 100% should have been in the box ready to tap in any loose balls
The thing that pisses me off about the media going on about the we are not ready thing is that they all know what he meant, but they need to perpetuate and give them something to talk about amongst all the stupid things they say, they will go on about this.
Unlucky, Did I just read Unlucky, Ten Hag has been doing the same thing he did last year, and you dare try and mention unlucky? Did maguire fall miraculously trip his way into the starting 11, did a poor perfoming Rashford pick himself, whereas inform Garnacho was left on the bench, Did Bruno mistakenly put his name as a number 9, whereas he is the only creative player in the middle of the park. Let us have a conversation from a point of sanity, wishes, and luck won't win us titles, but Firmness and consistency. Tenhag is a below average manager with the decisions he makes.
Points dropped for United today. Our players need to know what an offside is. United have to put the clear cut chances away. And keep composed in the last 5 mins of games. This will click and we will give some team a good hiding.
United are never ready regardless of who’s fit or not fit no matter who is coaching them or who isn’t they are basically a poor side and they don’t deserve to win most games they play every game is hard work and a struggle they never ever look comfortable in games and they haven’t hammered anyone for years average players average manager average coaches
Did these clowns even watch the game yesterday? United weren't unlucky by any stretch of the imagination and are at best an average team. Brighton outfought and out thought them.
Man U is goong to be unlucky many more times under ETH before this Christmas. After Christmas, new manager comes in and Man U will sudeenly be very lucky again.
Of course they were 2 goals offside, and then had a hell of alot of chances, if united had a stricker on from the start and garnacho out left the game was over at half time...
Ten Hag has had 3 pre seasons & is on his 3rd year being outclassed by a very young manager who is barely in the job with no premiere league experience.🤷♂️
One of the best quotes. United will never get anywhere with this coach. The United stand which is made up of immature delusional fans seems to be blaming it now on ineos for not getting rid of players like maguire, mctomaty and cassamero to be able to buy better replacements. I personally think you could replace the whole team with all of the city players and hag would still have no clue.
@@barbarohelm9697By what metric? Fewer shots, fewer shots on target, fewer times hitting the woodwork, less xG, and the same big chances. Seems to me like a Brighton win would've been more appropriate.
For once you see someone speaking the truth unlike the other pundits. Thank you Darren Lewis. Its like a jungle score, or be scored. Thank you Kaveh, you're spot on with the word transition. Brighton will get a reality check when they play Arsenal. Its going to be a spanking. When that happens come back, & have a conversation on how good they really are. Good window, good signings, no pressure as they're not a big side, no toxicity to deal with. Just wait for it! Utter capitulation! The epl knows no love.
If we only gave United points they deserved last year, they´d not even be in the Premier League this season. 🤣 United were lucky the new Brighton coach figured he only needed his best attackers for 10 minutes to win the game. Minteh was so awful, United fans thought Dalot could defend now. 🤣
It all evens out....Had Welbeck not hit the post, then they're up early second half...Milner just needed a tad more power for the one that almost rolled in....
But sure last year every time United won all we heard was, United got lucky, their opponent was robbed blah blah etc etc heard it all before. So what are United not allowed to be unlucky then? Can’t have it both ways
@@seanb25 please explain why United were unlucky and I’ll give u a reason why ur wrong. Also we’ve beaten them 5 times out of 6 now why is it “unlucky” or “shocking”. Just saying that they get called lucky in other games has no relevancy to this game.
@@upthealbion because there was an offside goal mate that for other than a stupid rule, was a perfectly good goal. Last year at Old Trafford, hojlund scored when ball was out deemed out of play but was then proven not to be. And the season before that yous were given an awful penalty after it grazed shaws arm and won in the last minute. Clearly brightons a bogey team for us and you do need luck sometimes. We could’ve won on Saturday and would’ve harsh on yous, a defeat was harsh on us I felt. A draw wouldve been fair but sadly as we know yiy don’t always get what you want.
@@seanb25 so a clear offside from an unorganised attack makes man united unlucky? That makes no sense we had our chances as well that we didn’t convert but we managed to stay onside. U we’re lucky that we didn’t win by more not unlucky, apart from that amad chance in the first half all of ur chances were offside it’s hilarious that going offside is deemed as unlucky it’s one of the most basic rules in football😂. Also bringing up old decisions in old games has no relevancy to this game so why bring it up?
@@upthealbion because you’re clearly our bogey team if dodgy decisions keep going against us then I will bring them up to make that point lol. And offside it may have been but only because of a silly rule, it was a goal whether he touched or not just a shame he couldn’t get out of the way. It was an even game tjat could’ve gone either way, sadly not for us. One day you’ll not get the decision though and we will, even if you don’t deserve to lose. It’s football it happens everyone
