“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” 1 Tim. 4:12). Way to go, Nahoa. 😁👍
McDowell shines here. His young guest renews my hope for humanity. Brilliant, eloquent, young man. Huge points for Sean for hosting a great discussion. Sean McDowell, here, and so often, is solid gold. Dr McDowell is a national treasure. King of the respectful debate. Man we need this type of debate in our culture across many topics. This young man? What more could you want from a son. Exceptional. His parents must beam with pride. Wait this kid is the host!?!? Amazing, beautiful, thoughtful, fascinating young man. Wow! Great stuff I'm moved to tears. What a lovely human being. I could kiss his parents. I see the beginnings of greatness. Exceptional young man! Clearly of high character. Amazed and full of joy and hope. Thank you so much Nahoa!! God bless you and your family. Much love, and admiration, from California!

Nahoa is so articulate and has an understanding of philosophy that is rarely seen today. It was a true blessing to watch the two of you discussing these topics together. God bless both of you and thank you for sharing your thoughts and gifts with us all!
Nahoa is a pro at this. I'm amazed at how knowledgeable he is for a 14 year old. I can't even imagine how much of an impact he will have on the world as he matures. Thank you Sean and Nahoa for an awesome discussion.
Philip was also shown to be preaching the gospel in Acts. There were more in acts Preaching the gospel than those who were the main focus. You also have the letters from the other apostles that point to the times the churches were started during the timeline of Acts. Nahoa is very encouraging! Keep it going!!
Awesome discussion and great conversation. Nahoa has a great gift, he is such a great witness. And he learned from you, Sean , how to communicate gracefully and he summarize the other person point of view after some topics, I recognized that move from you, so the audience get more understanding what other person point of view. You are such a great role model and great teacher for young people Sean! Thumbs up for Nahoa and Sean 👍👌
Great interview by both the interviewer and interviewee. Dr. McDowell's attention to Nahoa's time serves well for both. Did Nahoa read Dr McDowell's entire PhD dissertation? Impressive.
I thank you about your content regarding the evidence for the resurrection. I am planning to do a sermon about this, and I was planning to say that the 12 disciples all died as martyrs. I will have to change what I was going to say! Its a pity it’s not as cut and dried as I would like it, but it’s also good to be accurate.
One thing I noticed a few years ago about Jesus' predictions about his own death and resurrection is that Jesus' enemies seemed to be listening to some of his utterances a little better than his own disciples. That's why his tomb had guards posted. I just find it a curious detail (and an extremely embarrassing one for the disciples) that Jesus' enemies seemed to expect resurrection accounts to emerge at a moment when that seemed to be the last thing on the disciples' minds.
Wow John, that is a great point. I've never actually thought of that... I note many times where Jesus resurrection predictions seem to go right past the apostles. Although in Luke it says the meaning of what Jesus said was "hidden from them". Luke 18:31-34 NKJV - "Then He took the twelve aside and said to them, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. “For He will be delivered to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit upon. “They will scourge Him and kill Him. And the third day He will rise again.” But they understood none of these things; this saying was hidden from them, and they did not know the things which were spoken." Still your point is very interesting. I think that perhaps since it was unthinkable to the Apostles that Jesus would die vs the Pharisees who wanted him dead on gone. (And certainly wanted him to stay gone LOL) So perhaps each group was most focused on what they considered the greatest importance. 🤔
@@Apollos2.2 Yes. I think you're right. And I think all of this is perfectly consistent. Jesus's enemies would have been keenly interested in his predictions about himself, so it's reasonable that they would have noticed him predicting his death and Resurrection. Also consistent is the statement that these things were hidden from the disciples. He had told them enough times that I can see the author feeling like it required explanation when they were not expecting his resurrection.
@JOHN BUTLER Amen brother! We have a firm foundation for our faith! Let any reader know and understand, Jesus is the only one who died for your sins and was raised to prove its true. Acts 4:12 NKJV - “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
I have been reading daily through the book of Luke and continued today after reading these comments. I came across another scripture about things hidden from the disciples. Luke 9:44-45 "Listen carefully to what I am about to tell you: The Son of Man is going to be betrayed into the hands of men." But they did not understand what this meant. It was hidden from them, so that they did not grasp it, and they were afraid to ask him about it. I love learning God's word ❤ Thanks guys for your interesting comments.
So, is this kid a follower of Christ or just another blind and willful Satanist? "you are either with me or against me.....and do everything in love"-- The Holy Bible
Great questions! One buzz killer for someone high on the narcissistic spectrum, is the LORD’s requirement for faith. (Heb 11.16) The teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ require faith to preform correctly. If you obey them to the letter, there is no room for selfish motives, since we are unable to see Our Heavenly Father. Obedience to Jesus Christ’s commandments actually purifies our motives in every way. Since the LORD is the creator of this Universe, he has allowed his Church to succeed and flourish when those members are in line with the foundational cornerstone. I could go into the beneficial spin-offs of an obedient faith in Christ Jesus, but that might require more space in the margins.
Sean, your depiction of a crazy article about the Da Vinci Code is a perfect example of the "MythVision" channel. It is an advertisement for books and lectures of some of the wildest scholarship.
Wonderful interview, with both interviewer and interviewee demonstrating high competence and professionalism. I love the allusion from Dr. Sean to chylothorax and chyle possibly explaining the tradition of milk spurting from Paul's neck, it is assumed, at his execution by decapitation. Inasmuch as beheading is something that is more reported than done, I believe there is another possibility that experts may have missed, which merits further medical scientific study and analysis. Since the grey and white matter of the brain extend into the spinal cord, is it not possible that, in the event of a decapitation, this grey and white matter might gush or spurt out? It is a fact that the Apostle Paul, like the preponderance of academics, was more of a brainy threat than a physical threat to the Roman Empire (a kind of Professor X syndrome at its most extreme point). Therefore, the rather gory account of Paul's beheading, and the milky spray from his upper body, may indicate that he was persecuted to death for his sanctified intellect, resulting in his bodily demise through martyrdom. Notice 2 Corinthians 10:9-11 in the NKJV: "lest I seem to terrify you by letters. 'For his letters,' they say, 'are weighty and powerful, but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.' Let such a person consider this, that what we are in word by letters when we are absent, such we will also be in deed when we are present." However, while Paul's opponents considered him to have an imbalance of brain, they clearly had an imbalance of brawn - intolerance on steroids! Therefore, I believe that the possibility of an upper body milky spray at Paul's decapitation, apparently from his neck, being composed of white and grey matter from his spinal column, merits equal weight to that of chylothorax and chyle. Either way, or both ways, this is another example of what seems to be embellished tradition ringing surprisingly true, medically and psychosocially, both on the individual level, and as it extends practically into the group.. G-d bless!
Dr McDowell stated that there were at least ten false messiahs at the time of Christ. I have heard this before but when I went to look for them, I have not been able to find them. Can anyone give me a reference?
Good stuff from such a young man-very impressive. However, on the 5 possibilities that the apostles would have not recanted apart from an actual resurrection or some other epistemological/behavioral ideology, you neglect a compendium of historical accounts of people who were “martyrs” or chose to die for false religious/cultish beliefs (knowing it was false). And it wasn’t as if the apostles/disciples could just go back to their normal lives if the resurrection was false-they had already suffered under Jewish and Roman persecution and would have thus been continual targets of that persecution.
I asked Father one day, What's this humble yourself and pray stuff mean,,,, ? He said, Quit thinking that you have All of the answers and come to Me for the answers .

Sean, how did you conclude that a resurrection was the most probable explanation, over…say…the apostles simply being mistaken about what they(it only takes one to believe it) experienced? How do you factor in the very real grief and stress impact on these followers and the strong potential of grief induced visions?
Maybe because the Resurrection is the simplest explanation in the sense that you don't have to do a bunch of crazy contortions to explain away any of the data like you would with cognitive dissonance/hallucination/swoon/wrong tomb/stolen body or any other non-Resurrection theory. Simplicity is a huge criterion for evaluating theories. Explanatory scope and power are other ones that could be considered as well.
@Donnie Raines It is important to factor in that if you go with the theory they were mistaken about their experiences and the apostles had experiences that were in fact grief induced, then as Jews it is extremely unlikely they would invent an experience that would include an actual physical resurrection. The message we would have expected would have been one of seeing Jesus appear in a spiritual vision or dream. They would have never assumed Jesus was physically appearing to then, as this would not fit their worldview and understanding at the time.
@@BeachBumZero In the remote chance that you see this reply, do you have links to any further information on this explanation? Would be so helpful to me. Thanks!
I greatly wish that the Bible distinguished the John’s a bit more. Maybe a nickname like in the chosen, hahah which one is big John and which one is little John, and then you have John the Baptist who is referred to as just John as well. 😂 melts my tiny brain.

I often cringe a little when I hear about people's qualifications in a faith religion, because to me It doesn't matter if you are young or old, and how educated you are, because in the end people believe Christianity is true based on faith and not by the evidence alone. Because even if the evidence might be better for Christianity over the evidence for other beliefs. You can't say it's true unless you actually know irs true. And all the evidence one has for Christianity's isn't enough to say that. It's best to not believe in any religion and be honest to oneself, and wait until better evidence presents itself, instead of believing by faith hoping that the evidence we do have is good enough now.
I'm only up to mm 12 so far. You forgot to mention how fast Peter caved after Jesus was arrested. Who knows if the martyrs actually witnessed the ascension? As to why they were willing to die for their beliefs, you only need to study religious cult behavior. These men gave up everything to follow Jesus, and had to follow through to the end whether or not the experience was true or a group psychosis. Interesting topic.
When it comes to whether or not any of the Twelve abandoned the faith, the most important peice of evidence that they didn't was Jesus statement in John 6:70, "one of you is a devil." Jesus tells us which one will abandon the faith, Judas. Jesus chose them, plus He told them that they would rule on 12 thrones with Him in the Kingdom representing the Twelve tribes of Israel. Jesus words alone should be proof enough that Judas was the only one, the Messiah would certainly know. I think you guys are making this too difficult. ~Ken
What about Judas taking his life before Jesus was even crucified. He took his own life realizing he had innocent blood on his hands. I don't think he would be willing to kill himself if he thought this was all a lie, and his motivation of money was filled with conviction. He got rid of the money. I can't imagine he would have killed himself for a lie or any other selfish motive. He must have believed that Jesus was who He said He was. Maybe that's jumping to conclusions but...🤔 Thinking out loud. 🤔
@@jakegreen5081 Duh! They could have interviewed people in Jerusalem or Arimathea and written a tome saying it didn't exist. My elder son Jonathan did a video on YT showing why the Romans couldn't disprove the resurrection. Blessings.
Paul is the earliest source for Christianity. Paul never saw/met any physical Jesus. Nor did the men with Paul see any physical Jesus (Acts 9:7). The story in Acts is not even written by Paul, who supposedly had the experience of a voice (supposedly of Jesus) speaking to him. It's written by a person who didn't hear any voice (Luke). The men with Paul didn't understand the voice either and they never wrote about it either. So you have a story not written by the person who had the experience. Hilarious!
U Continue to be dumb: as Jesus taught the Two Powers in Heaven Israelite theology that the Apostles including Paul also taught. The trinity comes from this Jewish theology of the Old Testament. LOL, Luke wrote Acts and was Paul's co worker: your strawmaning is pathetic !
Do you believe the Book of James is written by James, the half brother of Jesus ? WHY did it take James till the resurrection to figure out that his own half brother was god ? Does this James mention in his book - writing in the first person -something like "I saw the resurrected Jesus" ? Don't you think that IF you were the brother of Jesus AND you had seen the resurrected Jesus that you'd mention that fact in the book ?
James wasn't an Apostle so he probably didn't see the Resurrected Jesus and believed later after Jesus ascended to Heaven! U R strawmaning again: so pathetic!
I always find it hilarious we have humans in the world that think they know the particulars of something beyond existence and are in communication with it, when humans actually haven't discovered any other life/intelligence existing or any other life coming from elsewhere to earth. Humans have only just started to explore the cosmos. Believers love make believe
PAUL never met Jesus when he was alive. Paul saw a light and promptly went blind. But, he claimed he "saw" the risen Jesus. LOL Acts 9:2 and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him Acts 9:8 Saul rose from the ground, and although his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. Acts 9:9 And for three days he was without sight
Nor did the men with Paul see any physical man, Acts 9:7. Nor is the story in Acts even written by Paul, who supposedly had this supposed experience of a voice speaking to him.

Jesus performs miracles he has forced the people he performed infront of not to accept in the first place, John 12:37-40. If Jesus wouldn't have blinded them and hardened their hearts, maybe they would have accepted the miracles. So Jesus wants people to not believe in him by his own actions. Hilarious.
U obviously R dumb : John 12: 42 "Nevertheless many even of the rulers believed in Him, but because of the Pharasees they were not confessing Him ,lest they should be put out of the synagogue."
6. Survivors Guilt. The disciples say that Jesus died in their place. And Peter even betrayed him by denying him while Jesus was being questioned. Plus they were more than just a group believing in the coming Messiah. They were a family living together and sharing their property whom also believed in the coming apocalypse.
