I can totally relate to how Nina felt when they forced you to buy their stuff! The same thing happened to us at a street market stall in Hong Kong, the stallholder was grabbing on to my mum's arm and wouldn't let go! I panicked and got really angry but in the end we managed to leave... the stallholder wouldn't give up and chased us down the street cursing! I'm glad you guys managed to get away safely, it's not a pleasant predicament if it escalated. Anyhow, looking forward to more content!

My experience of Sri Lanka was the same as you guys as well. We went to Sri Lanka way before COVID and was basically treated like walking cash cows. This was pre Covid so it’s not because tourism suffered, it’s just in their mindset, I can only blame the generous angmos. Our tour guide/ driver would constantly bring us to places where he would get commission from, we would ask him to bring us to a certain elephant sanctuary and he would still bring us to somewhere completely different. We were also constantly bombarded by kids asking for money when we visit tourist spots. Overall we still had a good time and the untouched nature was beautiful, but I would only return in maybe 10 years when the country is not so Lok kok with trash and crows everywhere

quite surprised you guys gave it to that tout. I backpack sri lanka right before covid, just go anywhere without guide, dont need them. i didnt visit the Sigiriya because the ticket price is ridiculous, went to the second hill to view it instead. you guys should mention the ticket price.
