WERNER PADDLES
The Stealth is a paddle I have been working with Werner on for this past year and it's everything I have wanted. It doesn't matter if I am on the biggest whitewater or doing a half slice joy lap, this is the paddle I will be using. It's EPIC, and it's finally here!

The blade shape and semi foam core design look awesome! Unfortunately the offset and being full carbon are both deal breakers for me, I don't like offset designs because they reduce the effectiveness of compound strokes in my opinion, and I frankly paddle too much low water mank to make a full carbon blade last more than a season. So while I'm glad to see Werner innovating and expanding their product line, I think I'll be buying a new powerhouse this spring (my current one is toast after nearly a decade in service!). If Werner released a version of the Stealth that had fiberglass blades and/or no offset, I'd be super tempted though!

If you can't make a carbon blade last more than a season, you are paddling too high a ratio of rock to water. If you are talking abrasion, then yes, you will wear down an Odachi or Stealth or Covert, but a metal tipped carbon blade will handle years of shallow water abrasion. When you can read water well, you place your strokes in the water that will be effective, and not on the rocks that are not only ineffective, but also break ALL paddle types ... except rubber Desperado's.

That's interesting you don't enjoy the forward bend paddles, but in the end everyone has their preference. It's worth noting that this doesn't handle like any other forward bend paddle, it's more user friendly no matter the type of whitewater. If you are thinking of getting a powerhouse just so you know this has essentially the same build blade wise as the powerhouse, in terms of the carbon edges and the abuse it can take. Though in the end each person likes a different feel and you can't go wrong with any of them.

@@allenmayers3642okay yeah "more than a season" was an exaggeration, but still carbon just wears down faster than I'd like and for that reason I'd take fiberglass blades over carbon most days

Just bought a DAGGER AXIS 12.0 and stuck with a cheaper 230cm fiberglass blade and aluminum handle with grips. went on a 12 mile river run in Alabama ended up paddling in the dark for 2 hours trying to make it back to my vehicle. Low water Rapids at night are way more intense. Would recommend to anyone but it was the time of our lives.

Forward bend paddles can be a little different for freestyle, that being said I used it a bit this spring as well as this fall when I got a chance and it still really good. I haven't gotten to use it for freestyle much yet but I think it'll still work great.

I haven't gotten to try it with freestyle much yet. Though the few times I tried it, it still felt great. I will definitely be trying it more when I get the chance, it definitely was sweet with how light it is. Nick is pretty convinced he will use it for all freestyle.
