Wes Built This Buggy to Mob at Glamis in LESS THAN 24 hours! Can He Wheelie It?

Let me tell you how right Wes is about the sand absorbing the mistakes!! LOL I kinda put that sand car I rented on its side. Came up over a steep dune, turned to the right and it just flopped over on the drivers side. No one was hurt. Jen was back at camp. Took us a bit but with the help of some fellow flatlanders (from Nebraska) we got it pushed back over on its wheels with no damage to the car and motored on!! I thought I was going to have a couple of crying daughters on my hands.... when they got their helmits off...both of them said " that was cool!!!) LOL Thanks for inviting us common folks to your Birthday Merlin. It was a great time. I enjoyed meeting you and your friends and family. Maybe we can do it again someday. I'm back out here hauling loads for America. Look forward to seeing more your videos.

I love seeing kids learning to fab. I was 6 when my next door neighbor took me under his wing and taught me all about cars, welding etc… First thing he did was to have me hold a plug wire as he cranked over the engine. i didn’t even know what a plug wire was. He shocked me good and laughed his ass off

Great little project, bad luck about the clutch problem. Good to see Wes back again, also great to see the rapport you 2 have despite the generation gap.

It never ceases to amaze me all the time and effort spent modifying existing vehicles that would be FAR cheaper, faster and easier to just build from scratch. Especially when the final product bears no resemblance whatsoever to the original. I mean, whatever floats your boat, and it makes for entertaining videos, but a scratch build could massively outperform something that uses low-po OEM parts, suspension and geometry, regardless of how understressed they are compared with the original vehicle.

Bf Goodrich never stopped making those tires. They are probably still the most popular and respected all terrains tire.

We can't believe the basket stayed on after the ride, you guys are V-Dub nuts and we love it 👍 While in Texas our receptionist waited 7 months for her brand new Cadillac, she took extra time that day out to lunch showing her new Cadillac off ran smack dab into a hail storm . Only had it 3 hours and it was totaled 😮

Out here in New Zealand we used to get "formula desert dogs" for off road racing back in the 80s. Last year i came across a new pair at a swap meet. I didnt buy them but it was a surprise to see them after all these years. I'm sure your front tyres are good for 80 mph .LOL What size were those rear tyres L60s Sand absorbs a lot and creates a lot more problems at speed. Think of a small 2 ft wave made of wind blown sand. Hit it from behind and you fly over it. Weee! Now hit from the front flat out in third it results in a 3 point endo and half twist and a broken tie rod. LOL. Sand will find its way into poorly sealed air filters and accelerator cables and underwear with ease. But its a neat place to be.

Talking about short, I had a 1960 LLoyd Alexander TS sedan that had a wheelbase of only 78 inches. Nice little car. I wish I still had it.

Man Jimmy built a pretty badass sand rail!!! The Corvar motor makes a baddass sand rail motor a friend of mine has a twin turbo on his Corvar motor it's fast as shit.

Those Freal machines add hot water and then blend the shake. Those machines are a pain to work on but that particular machine is the good one. It cleans itself and sanitizes it self daily. The older machines the store had to clean and they never did.. they got nasty.

One of these days hoping to have a certain vehicle up to working well enough to take it to Glamis where it hasn't been since it was built in the 60s. According to my dad the tandem rear end let it basically float over the dunes. Won't be winning any races with the old V8 Flathead even if I opted to "hot rod" the motor but...or especially if it has to help drag someone else out. Main thing to sort out now is the brakes before I can do local runs to be able to be sure there's no bugs to work out.

seeing you hook up the buggy my dad always made us use a safety chain.. hook from the end boom down under the sling to center frame what your are towing it done two things held if chain came off or if the cable broke had my butt chew out a few times for not using a safety chain
