Probably one of the most baller things ever said on the show. Even though Fool Us is good natured fun. I always love it when the contestants can stand with confidence and say, 'let me show you what I've got'
Penn mentioned this trick today on his podcast. Said how much he loved it. I had to go back and watch it again. He’s right. This is such an amazing trick that you make look so simple. So cool that he is talking about using it in his show and him talking about how he screwed it up made me lol. Great stuff. Would live to see your show sometime!
god, what a finale... don't even care how it is done, that was some high class dramatic stand off between two guys that respect the heck out of each other.
I loved the simplicity of that! Fast and fun, no awkward big reveal or unnecessary talking! Still going, "huh?" and trying not to think about it too hard because I don't want to know.
I love when the title of the video doesn't give away whether it was a fooler. Even better for the magician himself to upload the video, and restrain himself from using the video title to brag about his big win! Bravo.
I came to watch a magic trick and ended up watching a western showdown. “Here we go. You’re gonna get it wrong.” “I don’t think so.” *flips coin* “Choose.” EPIC. One of the best tricks and showmanship ever on Fool Us. Period.
I agree. The real brilliance of that showdown began when the performer confidently told Penn to stand up and play the game! That was such a smart move: it (for some reason) seemed to raise the stakes on the gamble, and also really enhanced the overall effect of having a magic coin with no sympathy for skeptics.
The last 90 seconds of this video are probably my favorite in the whole series. Tremendous respect from Penn (and great drama) to put it all on the line like that. Really wonderful illusion.
Penn knew how. The "I don't think so" was more akin to "Whatever I call is the right call because I love this trick so much I'm giving you the trophy."
I loved the curtain call Penn made you do, performing the trick again at the end. Also love how magicians are getting to show their own tricks and get their own fame on RU-vid instead of those 'other' channels monetizing their hard work. Wish you and your family the best, thanks for the performance!
That's the warmest hug I've seen Penn give a fooler on Fool Us. He really really liked you and the fact that you fooled him made him appreciate you even more i think. I was rooting for you the moment Penn started fanboying over the routine.
One of the most important rules in magic is that you don't repeat a trick for the same audience. I'm pretty sure he performed a trick half a dozen times during that routine, and he still left Penn & Teller unable to explain it.
Love how fair that flip seems! You look straight at the audience after catching it and never glance down. No idea how you're controlling the result but I love the elegance of this trick. Congrats on a great performance :D
That's correct for a fair toss of a coin. However, you can do fake tosses that end up the way you want. However, I'm pretty sure Penn and Teller would catch he doing any known method of doing fake tosses so I don't know how he did it.
I'm so happy to see magicians uploading their content from Fool Us now. The quality is so much better than it has been these last few years. Very fun trick by the way!
Loved this one so much, wouldn't be fun for the audience as well. And your family being so happy you won was absolutely adorable. Awesome, really nice. And genuinely thanks for keeping the result secret in the title.
One time I saw Penn realize that a magician wasn't actually tricking them, that he was "just that good". That's an even more amazing thing than a magic trick, and I think I just saw it again. Great job!
Fooling Penn and Teller is a matter of keeping it small. They were fooled with three nuttshells and a cork pea, twice with a cooky and now with one coin, less than a dollar. Loved the end, man against man. Great job.
No cards, no big setups, just a coin is all that you needed to engage all audience members to be a part of the trick and fool P &T. The ending was real cool when penn lost as you said.😂
That must've been my favorite trick on the whole show so far :) The way you present yourself is just amazing, you seem like a really wholesome person, too! Really, really cool! Your family can be so proud!
Love this trick and the showmanship from you and Penn in the last minute of the clip is a treat. Like y'all just silently agreed to make a really cool TV moment instead of dropping the trophy once their guess was wrong.
Man, the only thing better than that performance and mind blowing finish to it is the fact that he travels around with his family, the people he love, to do what he loves to, magic. Absolutely amazing!
Very clever, great way to interact with the crowd too. If he did it how I think, that's got to take a lot of practice to get down, if it really is just a regular half dollar coin.
Given that it isn't a gaffed coin, I have to put this down simply as very smooth execution and tip my hat. I like that Penn was right when he said he wouldn't get it wrong from the POV that he knew the result would be you receiving the trophy. Well played on both sides. Great job, sir.
I've watched this several times already and just love the wholesome performance including the encore! Penn created a great bad guy Gene Hackman in a saloon atmosphere and it was so heartwarming to see the good guy deliver with his family celebrating! Very entertaining show and a righteous fool, all the best Wes!!!
My memory is terrible. I watched this one year ago, commented, and watched it today as if it was brand new. The only way I knew I watched it was my comment. Has this happened to you?
Two things I want to say about your video ... 1. Thank you for how you worded the title, unlike some of the others who appear on Fool Us. 2. It is nice that Penn & Teller, their production team and/or the station (what I'm trying to say is whoever has copyright) allows the performers to upload the appearance on their own YT channel. There was an official Fool Us channel, but I can't seem to find it now.
Bravo sir. Like Penn, I enjoyed this trick more than almost every act that's ever been on this show. Simple, easy to follow but impossible to figure out, engaging everyone all at once in a way that they all feel like they're playing along with you and with each other... Your performance is humble but confident, grounded and playful. Brilliant stuff.
YES! Wes should definitely come back for another taping. Wes, you bring a wonderful presence to the stage. I loved your overall confidence and your face-off with Penn over whether you had fooled them or not. The trick was fabulous, for both the reason Penn said, because it was different than any trick I've seen, and because the whole thing came across in a powerful way. Bravo!
What a beautiful routine and an even beautiful exchange between Penn and Wes at the end. Ohhh that sass at the end "you're gonna guess it wrong" Loved it. One of my favorite tricks.
Wes, as a fellow performer, can I just say that I come back to this video regularly, just to bask in the joy of pure magic. Love it brother, you really deserved that trophy!
What an awesome trick! I love how this show allows us to discover incredible magicians, congratulations Wes, you're really REALLY amazing! Cheers from France ^^
Hi Wes Iseli, that trick was amazing. It's so hard to fool Penn and Teller and you my friend are good. I will always remember who you are and would love to watch you perform live. Your awesome
Wow I've never been the first comment. Awesome trick, I have no idea what you did. Congratulations and I can't wait to see my other favorite magicians do their reaction vids to this.
That end moment needs black bars to slowly drop a yellow tinted screen a tumble weed and old film grain applied because that seemed like a duel in an old west film
Man, that's a good trick. i'm guessing it's sleight of hand with a coin swap. But damned if I can see how or where that is happening. Or you're just an actual wizard.
