A tale of initiation and magick.
Bernard is a old poacher steeped in the ways and lore of the West Country. He is also well-known in the locality as a "Charmer - one who can heal minor afflictions using traditional plants and spells. Recently he has been down on his luck - the traps and snares he has been setting for years remain strangely empty. Then a bizarre encounter in the woods with the 'Bucca' turns his fortunes around.
West Country Tales was an early 1980s supernatural drama series based on "real-life" experiences submitted by viewers in response to a BBC South West appeal.

Please can you put the missing episodes back on of West Country tales I would very much like to watch those again they are really well made much better than the rubbish they put on the tv today thanking you dot ❤❤❤

I think he showed the mark to an old landed Lord, someone who had spent a lifetime seeking it for themselves. Probably stung too, seeing such a fine prize poached 😈

It's a really terrible generic 'country accent' from the narrator! Shades of Bristol and Dorset and some slides into goodness knows what! The actor sounds a Somerset boy tho..

That may be, but I am Westcountry born and bred and I grew up with people like this and it was a joy to watch this. Perhaps the accent is mixed up, but I don't care. What they got was a proper Westcountry character brilliantly, in my opinion. His little bits of wisdom were things that my Grandad (a proper countryman),my friend from school who became a thatcher or countless others I grew up with,would say. It is proper lovely, Thank you to Jack Daw for taking the time to share this. It has made my month.
