West Papua, Indonesia.
This performance was filmed in Bali and was a presentation at the annual Nusa Dua Festival which is attended by locals and tourists. This video was shot in 2012.
The dancing uses an accompaniment of kundu drums and in one section a conch shell is played. These are traditional Papuan instruments. In one section of the dance a double bass is heard. This is an introduced instrument.
This performance is, I would guess, using traditional movements but it has been choreographed to suit a local Indonesian audience. It differs greatly from the performances you would see if you were to go into the jungle areas which are still inhabited by Papuans. At the same time it displays the richness of the bird of paradise headdresses and the artistic decoration of the bodies which may also have some influence from the dyak tribes.
The performance is a creation which has been put together for promotional purposes.
