We had plenty of gear with us, but over the years we've just learned to take light-weight equipment and pack efficiently. Other than our camera gear (pelican cases) we tend to take just 2 containers. One is a 100 litre canoe pack that holds two sleeping bags and pads, a 3-man tent, a tarp, all our clothing, rain gear, stove and fuel and extra shoes. The other container is a 30 litre food barrel that holds our pots, pans, plates, utensils and enough light-weight food for a 7 day trip. This set up allows us to do all our portages on a single carry.
