@@BuildYourOwn Yes thank you a i will go check those pics out as well. i discovered the WAAAM In 2014 and have been attending the fly in avery year since that time
Brilliant video. Thanks. So many very rare aircraft there. Most air museums have all the usual warbirds, fighters, bombers etc, but almost none have a massive collection of vintage light aircraft, some of which are very rare. That museum has been on my bucket list for years. I've been to the USA many times, but not managed to get to Oregon yet. Cheers, Graham, Essex, England.
Thank you so much! The WAAAM is a wonderful glorious place and I had a lot of fun. The people were great too! I'm glad I could share the experience. At the time I lived not too far from Hood River and so it was a no-brainer to go. Being a car guy I was impressed with the car collection as well. Many of those cars were owned by Ron Wade who has since passed. He moved his car collection to Vancouver, Washington and I did a video of his collection (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lbjplGsmoSk.html) so if you ever make it to Hood River, Vancouver isnt that far away (think Portland Oregon) you should stop by the Ron Wade Collection. They have a website. And one last thing, another beautiful area right around Hood River is Multnomah Falls and Historic Columbia River Highway US 30. It's literally on the way to WAAAM. I did a scenic video (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-sPkMf29TBJA.html) in my truck, enjoy and thanks for wathcing!
@@BuildYourOwn I have a friend who lives in Vancouver, WA, so when I eventually get over to see him, I'll take a trip to the WAAAM Ron Wade Collection, if it is still open. Then it will be a drive south to WAAAM at Hood River. My main passion is all things aviation, but I am also a big 'muscle car' fan. I've owned a few here in England, my fave being a 1966 Buick Skylark GS (Gran Sport) with the 401 ci V8 engine. A very rapid car. I owned US cars for several years, but gas prices here are horrendous. $8 a gallon in your money! With the Buick only getting 10 mpg, eventually it had to go. :(
It truly is. You should also check out my video of the *Ron Wade Collection* which is part of the museum. Ron Wade is no longer with us but he had a beautiful car collection. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lbjplGsmoSk.html He will be missed. We were going to do single videos of all his cars but we only did his *41 Chevy Deluxe* , which was his favorite ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i3ZaEjX-ep8.html
I visited this place in April 2021 - I spent over 4 hours here, and I was AMAZED! At 28.26 of this video, did you notice the mirrors strapped to the spare tires on the Chrysler E80 cabriolet? 2 of my favorite cars were the 1965 Buick Riviera (Retractable hidden headlights), and the 1960 Custom Pontiac Catalina. Like you, I was impressed by the 1928-1935 Waco biplanes. However, there were hundreds of other awesome planes too.
I used to volunteer there up until about 6-7 yrs ago , when life got busy. Still love that place though. Actually have a rifle on display that I donated. ( Austro- Hungarian Steyr M-95)
Hey, great job of narration! One correction is necessary. Waco airplanes are not pronounced Way-co but is as spelled Wa-co, “Wah....Kol”! Otherwise, you did a great job!
Interesting place. But you can’t pronounce “Velie”? (Vee Lee). Interesting to see that car as it was made in my town of Moline IL. The Vis mansion was a high end restaurant for many years and is now a bank. Velie also produced and sold a monocoque airplane.
