Despite the delay of WMSR 2-6-6-2 no. 1309's debut, we chased the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad's EMD F40PHR no. 450, a lease unit from Larry's Truck & Electric (LTEX), hauling the Frostburg Flyer.
While attempting to depart Frostburg for the return trip, 450 experienced some mechanical issues and WMSR EMD GP30 no. 502 was sent to haul the train back to Cumberland.

CAMERA UPDATE: I recently got a Nikon D3500, which has a much smoother zoom than my previous Nikon L840 (used in the majority of our videos). Also I am proud to announce that our videos following our next East Penn Railroad video will have a higher video quality! (1080p60fps compared to the original 1080p30fps)

Interesting operations up there... too bad this trip wasn’t to see 1309 this weekend. When will she ever be done

Eastern PA Railfan 1309’s debut was postponed to the first weekend in August due to mechanical and trackage issues with the 1309. I would like to go back to the WMSR, but not after I see video proof that 1309 is actually in operation and ready for excursion service. I was really disappointed to find out that they had delayed the entire debut by an entire month.

@@HarryWarren1223 According to trains Magazine, it's funding related. Funds haven't been good, which has been delaying the debut of 1309 for a while. I don't know if 1309 will be ready this year, or if we have to wait until 2020.

We miss steam at Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Also why are they stopping to let traffic through at almost all the crossings?

While we were chasing the train, it seemed like a majority of the crossings didn't function. There were only a few short lines of cars that the crews let go first before the train crossed but we really don't know why they let traffic through instead of letting the train have the right of way.

It's going to be sometime. Work on 734 won't start til 1309 is done and I think it's mostly that 1309 will be done this year

Am I the only one wondering why the tracks on the western Maryland from Cumberland to Frostburg hasn't gotten any new rails yet? Also what's the status on 1309 since we sadly didn't get to see her run this weekend my guess is she'll be ready by either the end of this month or early August
