Great review. Great unit. I've had many many generators included the 3 (which I won't bore you with the details) & price to feature ratio at $500 buck.... You made out like a bandit. With proper maintenance as you well no this thing will last forever. My concern is industry standard. Why in the hell are these Gen makers including my manufacture using plastic choke toggles. I opted for the unit 7500 watt Cali carb compliant unit which ran me $1799 plus tax. There was a revision model one step under mines (they were identical in wattage & features. Identical clones in fact with the exception of the carb compliant feat. Price $999). So I paid $800 bucks more totaling almost 2gs and my choke toggle is still plastic. Go figure.
Good review. I do have a few questions. 1.i see this on amazon right now for about 850. Where can I get it around 500 as you mentioned? 2. In the event of a power outage, do you use a transfer switch so that you can power your house heat or ac? I see that as the only option that makes sense. Power goes out in the winter... Flip switch for heat, fridge n freezer, lights, etc. Thanks! Ive been wanting one for years... Especially now that I have so much money in my aquarium.
what did you come up with for your set-up? did you install a transfer switch? "interlock kits" are good too, maybe even better than manual transfer switch. thanks!!
It doesn't produce as "clean" of a power as an inverter-generator would be. Sensitive electronics prefer inverter type power. A 5,000 watt Honda inverter is about 4x the price of a comparable sized generator.
