Westinghouse iGen4500 Generator - Will This generator power your RV?

Hello Paul and thanks for the comment. Yes that beard has been years in the making. Took the generator on our first trip in the fall of last year and it worked flawlessly.

I'm looking at their website right now and they do have higher output generators but not in the inverter type model which is what you want to use in a campground for the quietness of it. However if you're just going to use one at home and it doesn't matter how loud it is they do have up to 12000 watt generators hope this helps. Your friends at kito campers

Keto Kampers Thank you very much I appreciate your help. I will probably buy this one but I will need some kind of other system to power the water heater then everything is covered. The problem I have is if I use a few things together the gen cuts off and I am sick off it now and my generator is old but 3300kw.

it's holding up wonderful it's doing everything we needed to do no flaws no issues running perfectly I did do a little update on it in our latest video if you want to see it but otherwise it's running fantastic thanks for the comment.

This seems smaller than the predator 3500 and the powerhouse 3500 surge watts. For an extra 1,000 surge watts and 700 running watt's, it's worth the price difference plus the weight and size is a big advantage to us. Thanks again

I got the iGen4500 Dual and we love it so far. Been using it for the last 30Days for about 5-8hrs nonstop. Loving it, thanks again.

it doesn't seem to matter whether it's on eco mode or standard mode. and we had to intentionally get it to cycle off. we just got through using it on a two-week trip and we ran the microwave and the power converter battery charger and coffee maker and it never even came close to capacity and we kept it on eco mode the whole time. Everything is powered as normal but it just stepping down to a 30 amp service.

I think a lot of the problem people are having as with the dual fuel variety of this generator. so far we've taken it camping for two weeks and haven't had any trouble whatsoever and we're getting ready to go out for another two weeks so we'll check it out but so far it's awesome.

@@gilianrampart8514 Inverter generators seem to be mostly floating neutral or open ground. I found the reason is so if you are holding a tool in your hand and touch the generator metal you do not get shocked. When connecting an RV to shore power the neutral and ground are bonded at the service and sent as hots, neutral, and ground. Your RV does not have this connection since it is made in the shore power or the generator that they installed. This is the video that I saw that made me aware of it. They’re identical internally. One has Onan in the name, the other Westinghouse. Westinghouse has better Customer Service and any Northern Tool will do it as well.

Depends on the size of the ac, two 15k btu doubt it. If you have smaller ac is possible. Just check your ac ratings and do the math. Also saw something about seeing up rv ac with some device you install with your capacitors and it helps the starting wattage by reducing it..

well on gasoline it ran several days while it was in single digits here with no problem. I don't know for sure about propane but I do know it lowers the wattage output some running it on propane

I'm sorry you're having trouble with your Gen. I know that when motors sit and don't run for a while that sometimes the rubber parts will dry out, sort of "dry rot" if you will. If that is not the problem I would recommend taking the side panels off and checking the fuel line connections and that all the screws holding fuel system parts are tight. I hope this helps!

Probably the float in your carb is stuck. Just take the carb bowl off and clean everythinh

Just power off the generator turning the fuel knob to OFF. Doing this way will drain all the fuel from rubber lines.

they don't recommend using it in the rain and less it's covered

Those covers are intended as a splash shield, not as weatherproofing.

I'm sure you'll be pleased, I know we are.

Did it work with your A/C unit

The led light for the on switch takes up very little power you’d need to leave it on for more than 10 days to drain the battery. So you can leave it on if you’re going to be using your generator that week.

any knocking sound you hear is definitely not the generator

@@ketokampers342 Hi, great video! I too heard the ticking sound. Hopefully, it is something rattling although it sounded like it was from the engine.....any knocking or ticking from an engine is wear occurring.

i have 1 that has over 4000 hrs on it in 3 plus years at my home no power up hear i now have 3 of them i can run them tandem all 3 can work together home made cord

The readout Displays remaining run time (F), power output in kW (P), fuel level in liters (L) and voltage (V). Best calculation is about 37.5 amps at full capacity, but it is not displayed on the unit. A calculator can be used such as this one - www.rapidtables.com/calc/electric/Watt_to_Amp_Calculator.html. I read other comments that they are the same. The only difference I’ve seen is that the Westinghouse has a dual fuel option. And the Harbor Freight Predators are the same as Northern Tool Powerhouse models.

The generator that Cummins sells is the generic. Cummins generators used to be known as Onan before Cummins purchased them. Onan was a top-end generator manufacturer noted for their quality. All American made. Onan was owned by Studebaker at one time and supplied the military with huge quantities of generators. Cummins shipped all of their smaller generator line production to China. (Actually they didn't ship anything, they're just having their generators OEM'ed by a Chinese manufacturer and the Cummins name slapped on it. If you want to buy a thousand or more generators you could have your name on one too!) They are all just overpriced Chinese clones playing on the Onan or Cummins past reputation for quality. I've seen these upfront and they are nothing but cheap Chinese clones with a high price tag.

Real camping would be a tent.
