Bro for real! Ion even know why but as far as his pre-TT3 stuff, he def had dope verses on his own albums, but his verses on Gunn projects and Conway projects too were crazy! Shower shoe lords is one of his best verses ever
This was one of the first Griselda tapes I ever heard, and it's still one of my favorites. Straight classic imo! The slow Daringer production all over these older projects laid out the blueprints for the entire lane of rap we hear so much of now. Kind of a shame that we never really hear anything like this from him now.
Agreed! Flygod, this, and awesome god like the big 3 of Gunn’s discography. I think people imitate Griselda in general but this one in particular created a lot of imitators Can’t lie, it’s not nearly as good of a project, but peace fly god gives me similar vibes as far as how the vocal samples got used and how it sounds borderline experimental. It’s a snippets, but the Michelle records snippets remind me of this too.
@@BSideRapReviews Man I wish Michelle Records would have been a thing. It seems like the whole thing just got shelved or something. Those snippets are fucking magnificent! I love the music, but these rappers can be fucking frustrating sometimes lol. Dude posts a bunch of snippets and hypes up the Michelle thing as some mysterious project, then puts out Peace Fly God which is a different project, then says Michelle became Hitler 10, then Hitler 10 is a completely different thing, and now he's just working on a whole other album? I both can't keep up and feel high and dry at the same time. Kinda like Alchemist getting me hyped for the Larry June album by posting a crazy snippet, then the snippet isn't even on the album. They need to stop with the crazy snippets that get shelved! Hope to see your take on the Larry June album soon tho :D
@@BSideRapReviews Flygod is an Awesome God is so underrated. You should do a video revisiting that. It’s too unique, replayable and arguably has his best quotables.
@@Jimmy1982Playlists really? Most Griselda fans who got on them after 2018 disliked it feeling it was too weird but o think it is #2 behind FLYGOD. Pray for Paris is my #3 but Don’t Get Scared and TGATFGPB is really nuts too. His best EPs
Gods don’t bleed is the definition of just pure grimy! Love that intro and this entire album. This was what put me on to westside Gunn and introduced me to griselda. Haven’t looked back since everything they drop is fire 🔥! Salute for the reaction as always 🫡
Faaaaacts! Gunn’s production is slightly brighter than Conways and Benny’s in general so this might be his grimiest song. Prob between this and something off Hitler 5. My intro to Griselda was Tana talk 3 but Blientele was my first Gunn solo project I heard. I’m a Wu tang fan so the name of the album really stuck out to me lol. Preciate the support brodie!! 💪🏾
To start any album with gods don't bleed set a bar high af!! That beat alone is ridiculously classic that sound was ahead of its time benny went crazy still waiting on a Daringer and kiss album I had the song on heavy rotation for like 4 years lol
Spitting nothing but facts brotha!! Crazy tone setter. Sheeesh I never even thought about that collaboration - that would be crazy! One of his weak points throughout his career has been production. I think even this late in his career that would have the potential to be his best solo project
Westside is a weird artist because he absolutely has the same ability as Benny and Conway but there is always a few songs on his albums that feel wasteful. Like he doesn’t really rap for the second half of a song or will feature a questionable artist. But despite that I go back to his music more than the other members of Griselda.
Im always going back and forth between this and Flygod as his magnum opus. Dean Malenko is my favorite Solo WSG song, Brutus is a crazy trio song and the sequencing of this album was perfect.
Same it’s between those 2 for me too! I think I slightly edge Flygod cus I think the rapping is better- esp from Gunn. I think you’re the first person who like Dean malenko as much as me. That verse just ooze charisma and the keys too hard. Preciate you tapping in 💪🏾
They actually had 4 other full collabs: Nitro off of HWH4, “Time” off of Conway’s Physikal Therapy Mixtape, and “The Stookie Bros part one” off of a benny mixtape i forgot which one, and “Tom Ford Socks” off of My First Brick
Bro I told someone else I forgot about nitro cus I forget there’s other songs on Hitler 4 besides the cow 😂😂 oh yeah def Tom Ford Socks. I didn’t know bout the physical therapy joint or the stookie bros - missed those! Ima check em out and ima have to double back to those to react to them for the series! Good look bro!
@@BSideRapReviews no problem bro! would love to see a tier list video of all the songs with benny con and gunn, theres like 30 or so of them. Keep up the good videos bro I love ur reactions!
So glad you reacted to this one! _Supreme Blientele_ is what got me into Griselda... and it is still, imo, the masterpiece of GxFR! In fact, the first albums I heard from Wes (Blientele), Benny (Tana Talk 3) and Conway (GOAT: Grimiest Of All Time) are still the best from each artist for me.
Ay no lie that’s an amazing intro to Griselda haha! I personally got Flygod slightly over Blientele but I def feel you on that! My intro was TT3 as well and Blientele was first project I heard from Gunn. This projects always gon have a special place in my heart for that lol! GOAT is AMAZING! I personally got From King to a God as Conways best cus I thought his punching was ridiculous on that album. I heard GOAT kinda late cus it wasn’t on streaming but I love that tape so much. I like FKTAG so much but that grimey aesthetic of GOAT is too good
I Brutus more than several from WWCD with all 3 but 2018 on is when they really started to click. I think Conways verse on Brutus is great but they got plenty other joints where all 3 of them lose their minds. Off the top of my head, George bando, butcher and the blade, and Dr birds some of my favorites.
This is the album that finally made me like west side when I first found them. I hated him but after a while and sitting with this he clicked, Steiners and Elizabeth are my top 2 off here. elzhi killed it and that Elizabeth beat is something else
That’s dope! Yeah he took me a second to like him too. I heard Benny first and just heard gunn on features, but it started to click really after WWCD even though I thought his production was really good. The beat on Elizabeth is so great! Elzhi is a insane rapper. I wish he would be more active, he’s lyrically one of the best rappers right now but he has the long hiatuses. Right now is the most active he’s been his whole career
"Wallets getting chubby like Botero drew it" is a reference to Fernando Botero. Colombian artist who usually depicted people in a chubby way. That was his style. I liked that bar
Hahah gotta keep with the wrestling theme of the album! This, Flygod, and awesome god are like the big 3 of Westside Gunn albums - been ready for this joint since the series started!
@@BSideRapReviews man I remember first time I came across this album it was like 4 in the morning and the cover caught my attention. Then I saw dead end hip hop said it was fire. I played 10 seconds of gods don’t bleed and turned it off because I knew I wasn’t ready. Had to collect myself and play it the next day🤣🔥🔥🔥
Oh and yeah... Keisha Plum... I hope there is an alternate universe out there where Griselda happened exactly how it happened in our reality, except for Keisha Plum.
Lmaooo you right but Gunn put that man in the line of fire! Flygod Jr. gon produce some heat on Hitler wears Hermes 18 and it’s gonna complete his redemption arc 😂😂
Yeah he had a sick flip of it too! I gotta go listen to that joint again he really surprised me by how good that whole album was. Didn’t really expect him to do much more than be “the guy that made Caroline”
Yeah bro that beat is gorgeous! I rock with that take too. Personally I gravitate towards his real lyrical tracks so I think I gotta take shower shoe lords as his best joints and i think Bautista and Superkick party gotta be up there too! But yeah bro - Al is a living legend
I’ve heard that joint a couple years ago that was the first navy blue project I heard. I gotta check out his one that just dropped for sure. For me I love navy blue as a producer, but I think he’s just pretty good as a rapper. To me, it’s kinda to his detriment that his style is really similar to Earl sweatshirt and MIKE but they’re both better rappers imo
It’s a really sick verse! Maaaan I’m trying to think what my fav Conway verse is. Brutus gotta be up there as one of his best. Off the top of my head I think I’m leaning towards 2 verses. One is Dunks which ain’t surprising, and the other which I’ve never heard in the convo of Conways best verses is his verse on Pete Sake
@@Jimmy1982Playlists def one of his best verses and maybe even his absolutely best. As far as personal favorites tho - I don’t listen to it much cus it’s depressing lol!
@@Jimmy1982Playlists def one of his best verses and maybe even his absolutely best. As far as personal favorites tho - I don’t listen to it much cus it’s depressing lol!
First Griselda project I heard and I was instantly entranced. Been my favorite rappers since. Westside’s ear for production is unmatched. Great review as usual!
Preciate that! Dope hearing that this was a lot of people’s intro to Griselda - mine was a couple months after this joint with TT3 but this was my first Westside Gunn project I heard. Yeah Gunn has a unmatched ear like you said and I also love that he’s willing to step outside the box and evolve. I don’t think he’s the best in rapper in Griselda - not even close - but he’s def my favorite.
Yeah this a great intro! Yet their to tier production, charisma from Gunn, and fire verses from Benny and Conway. This was the first solo Gunn project I heard but I believe I heard this after I heard several Gunn features and WWCD as well if I’m not mistake
I don’t think ima be able to get to it. I’d love to react to it but I got a couple recent joints that I’d react to before that like the 2 new hus kingpin joints and the tyler joint from today.
Yeah I’ll prob do The Preface soon. I did a reaction to Elmatic a while back. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OhMvyw-P8Do.html Fair warning though, it was one of my early vids so the production quality and pacing is….uh….different lol. I know it ain’t a old project but I reviewed Zhigeist as well. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--Yr6AptJHLc.html
In that instance, I was just saying that it’s not one of my favorites but I’m acknowledging it’s the best. But that said, I think taste in music is subjective but i don’t think how good it is is completely subjective. That’s honestly a story for whole nother video but basically, I think just like we can objectively say one pianist is better than another, I think you can do the same thing with rap. Ie, if someone said Lil Durk is a better rapper than Conway the machine - I personally wouldn’t say that’s subjective…I’d just say they’re wrong lol and can make a great argument for why. Now who’s to say my opinion is right, but that’s why I try to go in depth and back up my takes.
Absolutely! That was actually the vision with this whole series, I was gonna listen to every album so I could rank them and just decided to record all the listens. The only think though is I prob won’t finish this series til next year lol
You right! I did elephant bones - I see you peeped! Gotta get to some Doom though - I haven’t done too many classic reactions but he’ll be one of the first. Ima huge doom fan. I did react to his short 2 song EP with Westside Gunn tho
I don’t know if you listen to Navy blue but he released another fantastic project called ways of knowing. He’s got three great projects if you haven’t heard of him.
Bro I still haven’t heard his new joint yet cus I’m running behind on the last couple weeks releases but I’m familiar with navy blue. I personally have liked him better as a producer than a rapper but I been hearing great things bout the one that just dropped. Ima check it out for sure - prob won’t get around to doing a reaction tho
Haha great taste!! Ay speaking of Danny Brown, I been listening to his 2010 joint The Hybrid a lot lately. That was the first Danny brown project I heard and dawg he was sounding dumb hungry. He’s had an amazing career
Bruh that’s innovation 😂 I wish this was common knowledge cus I def had occasions when I first started drinking when I didn’t have a corkscrew. I think I ended up tryna dig it out out with a fork or knife or something lol
"This made my rate double like the chorus" Its a refrence to recording choruses which some will double up the vocal recording take (ala 90s Jadakiss) or the chorus effect which doubles the mono (1) take to stereo (2)
Idk when but I got to fasho! I been thinking about reacting to Roc's whole discog after this Griselda series. Only difference is I've heard all Roc's stuff but dude is one of the best on the planet!
New subscriber here. Your reviews are very well put together. This was the project that introduced me to Griselda and I’ve been a fan since. This is still one of my favorite projects from this camp.
Man I Preciate you asking but I don’t do paid/sponsored reactions. Prob bad for my pockets lol but that’s to keep me honest and objective both with what I cover and also with my reviews
@@BSideRapReviews bruh I'll pay u double to lie n say tha album is good n to tell ppl to go check it out lol no lie ... but I could respect ur decision still #Art 🙌🖼🎨 N I appreciate u typing back to me I didn't think u ever were
Bruh I completely forgot that was on here! Wwe need to pay for their crimes against Griselda lol. Still haven’t forgiven them for taking undertake vs Goldberg off Spotify smh
It’s crazy how the beat is so minimal but still so forward thinking at the same time. I got a huge soft spot for vocal samples too - especially loud ones because it takes special ear to be able to use them without it clashing with the rapping. This is one of the many Griselda samples where I’m like “there’s no way this sample should work” but it does and sounds amazing 🔥🔥
