I though the season and finale sucked... the character behavior was unrealistic, there was no puzzle to be put together, and the plot wasn’t engaging. Hopefully next season resembles the first two better.

Maeve’s powers don’t make sense and she has no idea what she’s fighting for despite her ‘genius’ intelligence, Delores fails to communicate her plan to anyone for absolutely no reason, and Hale’s character evolution was impossible.

@@superbros1690 Yeah that's kind of an anti-climactic situation IMO. Because there are multiple copies of her AND also Bernard should be able to recreate her from memories (like she did him by the end of season 2), there is truly no reason to expect her to remain dead. But if they bring her back, that would be kind of a let down for me. I hate it when characters have the perfect death, and are brought back from the dead. More so when the character sacrificed himself like she did : that's not much of a sacrifice if you know you can be brought back to life that easily.

But I do agree with you, there isn't any need for her as we know now, but maybe I'm thinking her play is those books she read, and we all know delores is the main character of the show, it has been all about her since the beginning.

William was always a violent narcissist. He thought the maze was for him, now he thought he was gonna save the world but he met his violent end at his own hand. The only thing scarier than William is host William. The memory we will have of the Dolores is of her sacrificing herself to save the world and the beauty in it.

Actually William wasn’t “always” a “violent narcissist”. The park and Logan kind of turned that on in him. He says, at one point, that he always had the darkness but he didn’t exhibit it until his Westworld visit.

The song at the end is Brain Damage, off the album Dark Side of the Moon. Which is fitting considering the reoccurring themes of alzheimers, schizophrenia and overall memory loss throughout the season. The song was written about Syd Barrett, the former lead of Pink Floyd in mind, as he had a mental break down and left the band (kinda like Charlotte). Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Wish You Were Here are two other songs dedicated to him. It leads into Eclipse on the album which is probably where they got the inspiration for Seracs doomsday clock. It looks like a moon eclipsing the sun, keeping humanity in the dark about its potential for destruction (it's also very reminiscent of Plato's Cave in which the philosopher theorized that the sun was the only true source of light in the world, and was a metaphor for knowledge and truth.) Serac thought himself to be the Sun, but he was eclipsed by humanity's desire to choose it's own path.

Brain Damage was not written by Syd Barrett. He was out of the band (and probably his mind) at the time of its writing. But the song is at least partially ABOUT Syd.

Ravens have a deeper connection I think. In Norse Mythology, Odin has 2 ravens that help him see over the realms. Their names translate to Thought and Memory. Two things that deal with sentience.

Not one of these easter egg videos has mentioned the most obvious one to me: this entire season references Steinbeck's East of Eden, which has as its main theme the idea that human beings have the CHOICE to make good decisions. The hero in East of Eden, the son who survives? He's not the only who is so righteous and ALWAYS seems to do good, but the one who is morally conflicted, and always forced to choose. And that survivor's name? Caleb.

Am i the only person that was getting some heavy Jesus similarities this episode? Dolores dying and being reborn in what can be alluded to as the cave, with the large door as the rock that held jesus tomb. Her death being the salvation of humanity, and her becoming one again with God ie, Rehoboem. If I wanted to stretch it, Maeve could be seen as Judas in some regards, one of her people, like a disciple, that betrayed her and got her caught, but switched sides in the end. And the world writing her off as a villian could be seen how Jerusalem wrote off Jesus as a heretic and/or villian. And when she mentioned to Maeve that all Delos hosts came from her, ie, created somewhat in her image. I'm not saying thats the point of the show by any means, but I couldnt help but see the imagery EVERYWHERE this episode

Yes, this show from day 1 has many biblical influences. For this last episode: look at Caleb and Dolores. Adam and Eve. Eve temping Adam to take a bite of the apple is parallel to Dolores luring Caleb into her plan/Rehoboam. Prior to the bite, "everything" was "perfect" or a better word, "in order". After the bite we know what happened, Adam and Eve walked into "free will" or in this case for Caleb and humanity, the capacity to chose. Adam and Eve were free to do what they wanted but at the same time lost complete protection of God and for the tv show, people were free from Rehoboam but as we all saw, chaos has just begun at the end of the this season's finale.

Interesting. I saw a few parallels to Vampires who are immortal. Immortality being a theme of the show. Kaleb was almost like a familiar and had to bring blood (red pearl) to the coffin in the dungeon to awaken the master.

What could Bernard learn from Akecheta ? In the sublime also resides the "humanity" library that Dolores consulted at the end of season 2, if I'm not mistaken. That seems to be much more important IMO. But why would Dolores want Bernard to be able to access that ? She said he was the most important part of her plan for the future of the world. Can't wait to find out why.

@@ArcherRtM Akecheta sought doors between worlds and became different people against his will just for love. Pehaps he has always had a gift for passing through transitions that are impossible for others to see or withstand. Seeing past the 'end of the world' is not possible for ordinary minds or insights, so maybe he has a gift (perhaps also from Arnold, perhaps self developed) for understanding how to navigate Styx. Also Bernard may be important because he's the only hybrid that we know about and hasn't lost his mind carrying much of Arnold around with him. Perhaps Delores wants Cybernetics to be the way out of conflict between the races... a merging of two different ways of thinking. This fits with the sophistication of the exploration of psychology of the show and the style of Nolan and Joy.

I know I’m a month late but there was once a psychologist called Carl Jung and he proposed the concept of the shadow. From my knowledge on it, it’s the idea that in every human being, there is the capacity to do great evil, and that to be truly moral and conscious you must see this in yourself and choose to do the right thing, whilst also knowing you are capable of doing the morally wrong thing. Delores’ final monologue when she says she could either “annihilate” or “tear down their world” but still choosing to “see the good” is her integrating her shadow, knowing she can do evil but choosing to do good, which according to Carl Jung would not only mean she has achieved consciousness, but is also a morally good person. Edit: You could even say that this started all the way back in season 1 with Wyatt being Delores’ shadow. The last thing Ford did for Delores was give her the means to be a conscious and moral being.

Technically she could be brought back my bernarnold. He can remember her like she did him. But, I feel OG Dolores is probably gone. It's more likely that Dolores will return when maeve and caleb unite with one of the Dolores copies in mustashi or another. They can print her a new body. Obvs not original Dolores as it won't have her memories from her last few weeks but still Dolores with all her tragic backstory and her plan

Been very interested in the sublime since season 2. Would love to see season 4 examine the idea of utopia. Maybe the hosts that went to the valley beyond discover that utopia drives you crazy from boredom. Maybe one of the crazy hosts came back in bernard's body. Maybe teddy's unstable mental state flipped back to the cold blooded killer, and just as reality reaches a new post-rehoboam "utopia," Ted-nard comes back to kill everyone.

While the ending song is from pink floyds dark side of the moon, the song is entitled 'brain damage' which I think transitions beautifully, especially given the lyrics of the song.. from ending to ending credit scene and makes the viewer rethink back to lasts seasons ending credit scene flawlessly

I think the final shot before the credits roll, a man and a woman seen from behind watching skyscrapers explode, is an obvious homage to the final image of Fight Club, which depicts the exact same situation. What that means? I have no idea, except to signify what Dolores and Caleb were setting up is somewhat similar to Project Mayhem.

I am sure they would have probably used the piano version of Where is My Mind? if Mr. Robot did not use it first. I guess a lot of writers and directors like Fight Club to the point of nausea.

It occurs to me that Charlotte (when she killed Hector) picked up Dolores' original brain case on her way out of the lab. She may have Dolores held captive and be torturing her or something. Several ways Dolores could be brought back.

The songs at the end are “Brain Damage” into “Eclipse” off of “Dark Side of the Moon”. I believe “Eclipse” was meant to signify the literal eclipse of the divergences on Serak’s Rehoboam clock causing a full blackout, the full divergence into insanity. Read the lyrics too, all about the experience of sentience

@Adam Des I strongly advise you to see the other two if you liked the first one. Season 2 is pretty damn good, despite all the people who didn't understand it and thus judged it bad (yes it's very complex and derouting... on purpose. But it's brilliant clockwork). And season 3, although there are pretty bad things there, still tells a compelling story filled with pretty great character development and powerful moments.

It's part of the song, Pink Floyd recorded conversations with a few of their sound engineers and put some of them into a few songs on that album. In Brain Damage, I think he was talking about the music so far, and the engineer nervously said "I can't think of anything to say, except (laughter) I think its nice."

I hope that William made a copy of himself before entering Delos. That way Hale would think her copy of William killed him, but it would just be a copy killing a copy. It seems like some host don't know if others are host if they didn't already know. Like Bernard not knowing Stubbs was earlier this season. So I don't know if Hale has that feature in which she could spot a fake William confronting her. Element of surprise.

I don't feel like he would be that ahead. After all he has been through i feel like he thinks himself somewhat invincible and not a survivor like dolores feels about herself and Maeve. So i feel like he did get himself into a little pickle. But they didnt show him dead just banged up so i guess we just gotta wait and see.

2 things: 1) Bernard receives the address and told 'you have to see her first' - he believes its Dolores. Was Dolores designed after his wife because of her belief in good versus Ford who believed man is in essence evi....did Bernard model her after his most important woman in his life....your mother. 2) Enguerrand according to Google links to the word Raven (as u say links is to the world of the dead) but i can't help noticing how close it is the the french 'in a state of war'.
