In today's video, Mel is answering a common question we get from our fans. What is the difference between our shaving soap and cream bases?
It's always a good idea to purchase a few samples of the different formulas before you commit to a full-size product so you can find out what is best for your skin type.

I love the format of directly comparing the formulas in a single video. I think I'd be most likely to try a Formula T soap, but it still looks like the rustic soap is a good performer as well.

I would classify the shaving cream as more of a croap; somewhere between a soft soap and a cream. Thanks for the compassion and explanation of these three products.

Thanks Mel. Maybe I've overlooked it on the website, but I think you should sell those t-shirts.

Thanks Mel for a good video. My main problem is, although I need a good amount of slickness, it’s the annoying fact of the various soaps and creams I have tried to date, bar one, really clog up in the DE razor after one, two or three strokes, meaning I have to loosen the razor handle and head each time, to wash the clogging out, so I can continue with the shave. All these I lathered in a bowl, not on the face. Maybe I am not doing it right, but to date (in the U.K.) I have tried Proraso Green cream(the worst for clogging), Edwin Jagger Aloe Vera cream(not too bad), a French soap(expensive and very soap-like), but I still have to try a Taylor’s of Old Bond Street cream/tub. The best for washing out of the razor without the need to unscrew the handle and head, has been the Simpson unscented luxury shaving cream, which I just wet the brush, dip into the cream and paint on the face. Any views or suggestions welcome.

This sounds like a razor issue. If I have to guess, you are using something like a Merkur Future or some clone. I'd suggest an open comb razor like a Merkur 37c or a Fatip Grande Originale.

I think I’d like to have seen you work the lather a little more. It didn’t look like it was uniform. Looks good for time required but I’m gonna finish in a bowl after loading my brush, for just that reason.

So what if soaps are good if you can't buy them in European stores? And ordering from the United States means such shipping costs and customs duties that you can forget about it. Please post links to stores in Europe that sell your products, I will be happy to buy them. Kind regards

I didn’t know the cream could be used as brushless. Anyway to get a demonstration of that?

There’s another very small batch home made type artisan that has the same name “Rustic Soap”. Did you buy her company or are they 2 different?

I don’t really understand why you are building it up in the puck instead of a cup or bowl? Wish the would invent smell aviation already.

Would you take advice from a man when it comes to tampons, pads or menstrual cups? Of course not. That is why I don't take advise about shaving from a women.
@TheShavingTulsan

Ben get the hell out of here with this BS. How many artisans in this industry with some of the best top-tier products are women? Van Yulay, Zingari Man, Shannon’s Soaps, Gingers Garden, etc are all women and I can personally guarantee you they know more/have done more for the shaving community than you have. Everyone in the artisan wet shaving community knows Mel and what she does to promote a better way to shave. Who are you again?

@@TheShavingTulsan Typical liberal hypocrate. You believe in diversity of opinion only when someone agrees with you.

Ben because women don’t shave? You’re absolutely entitled to your incredibly sexist opinion, no matter how shallow it is. You’re essentially saying, “I don’t take advice from an entire gender that does that same thing I do, even when most shave in more sensitive areas than just a face.” What?
@stevesshaves8730

The Shaving Tulsan Tim - Well said. Plenty of ladies in our community putting out amazing products. In addition to those you mention - Lakewood Soaps, Mickey Lee Soapworks, Mandy Lovan, Vida Perez, just to name a few more. It’s these people & others that make this community great.

@@downncrazy As yes. When someone has the audacity to disagree with a liberal, the cliche reaction is to use the words, sexist, racist and homophobe. Predictable and pathetic.
