We actually had the 3 ounce burger last night in Wetherspoons in Hartlepool and thought it was great Just like a McDonalds from 30 years ago But we are working away from home and being hit by the cost of living crisis so really appreciate a Wetherspoons!

I had the exact same meal yesterday at spoons in Mexborough and it was spot on, tasty burger and good value for money… spoons food is what it is 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same as the products in shops..in Iceland I bought chips and chicken...bags are smaller but same price.....shrink flation

Thats the point of Bus Lanes Lee. They need to be empty so that buses can move swiftly and directly to their destination leaving us car drivers stuck in traffic. If they were choc-a-block full of buses they wouldn't work. In fact they would just be "a lane " like all the others. Its funny - the town where I live we have time restricted on road parking controlled by those paper disc things. In 25 years of living here I have only ever seen one warden. I have never met anyone who has had a ticket - its sort of self-Policing and works. The only cost is the discs available from the library and post office for a quid

They've definitely changed the cobs. They're now much smaller so as to give the impression you're getting twice as much burger as before, but that's not the case.

We ate in the Spoons in Bridlington a couple of months back. I'll never go back. It was filthy, ate about 4 mouthfuls each, left. We were both ill for 2 days with a dicky tummy. Worse food, drinks and all around experience I've had in a long time.

That looked so poor, I'm amazed you managed to eat it. I would've got a refund after the first bite and gone elsewhere.

Two choices. Raise the price or shrink the portion. As global inflation is out of control and many customers are at their spending limit on items. You notice it more so in the grocery stores. Think about the size of a box of cereal or a chocolate bar now compared to even ten years ago.

Its ok to say go to Blackpool and get a £1 burger but the amount your going to spend to get to Blackpool 🤣

Am not sure how many chips you want, there looked enough to me. And you often see chips being left on plates, so I guess it’s a reasonable portion for most, but you can’t please everyone!

Hi Lee. Firstly, that burger was nothing short of a rank rip-off. Shame really - Ive had a couple of spoons burgers ftom before they changed the menu & they’ve always been decent. As far as drinks prices, we’ve got 2 Spoons venues in Bournemouth town centre, literally 5 mins walk apart & the prices between the 2 are different on a lot of the products. I might do a vlog at weekend to show if i can grab the time. We live in rip-off Britain don’t forget! A nation of false targets, greed & lost consideration!

Yep....noticed the meals are smaller and don't always get the extras you used to.

The most expensive Wetherspoons I've been in, is probably Stansted airport... & it's pretty much packed all the time.. Our local one here on the East coast is also far from the cheapest, I only drink never buy food so can't tell you if it's good, or not food wise.

These councils are all the same: if you have a car, you are assumed to be affluent - therefore a 'cash cow'!

I fell for this the other day in the Aneurin Bevan in Cardiff. Burger was tasty to be fair, but very small and only came with about 15 chips, no bit of salad on the side, no little pot of coleslaw. A real shame cos I won't consider wetherspoons for a cheap meal in future

Just avoid large town centres that have become high price, high rise concrete jungles. Use out of town family run outlets instead.

This restaurant doesn't want you to film their food because they don't want You Tube creators to show how bad some of their food looks and tastes and as a result criticize their food to subscribers and viewers. If everything is delicious and is value for the money, there is no need to hide from the camera.

I remember Shrinkflation started decades ago in the States with a pound of coffee going down to 12 ounces at the same price. Now on just about everything. 🤬🤬🤬

Spoons is cheap but you get what you pay for. ! The burger and chips looked ok to me, but no excuse for serving dry bread. The burgers were quite small. Service not good, dirty tables, not allowed to film. 4 from me.

Leeds resident here. I noticed the shrinkflation by Wetherspoons, you actually referenced shrinkflation in your previous video where you complained about confectionary, especially Yorkie bars (in which I am complete agreement). Can't really blame 'Spoons for that as they have the same cost pressures as everybody else. Anyway, I like going to the Otley Burger Company in, well, Otley. The beer in the Otley Tap House is also relatively cheap, for now anyway. The Otley Burger Company publicity managed to get an article in the Daily Mail, when I saw that I thought "I must go there" and I visit as much as possible. Anyway, onwards my friends.

I think sometimes it depends on the Spoons, I had one of these burgers yesterday at Wakefield and it was juicy and quite nice. However I've been to other Spoons and the burgers have been drier than Ghandi's flip flops.

The S/K pie and Bangers and mash are £9.90p in Beccles. The Abbot, which I drink all the time is expensive in Leeds at £2.79p I usually pay £2.29p a pint.

Went to Spoons in Lincoln, Seven seas or something like that. Worst one I've ever been in. Watered drinks, rank burger similar to Mac's and a dirty table that had to be cleaned twice. Just because Spoons is cheap doesn't mean it has to be pants.

Shrinkflation has been happening to our favourite chocolate bars for years. Btw, my other half went through a bus gate, fortunately she only got a warning letter from Hackney Council

Thanks for the video, I’m very lucky living in the USA Lee, there is no bus lanes, speed cameras, parking is easy as all the stores have their own car park, as for being ripped of at fast food and family restaurants here in the US, am not finding this out, so it’s fairly stable at the moment.

Hi Lee. Thank you for highlighting Spoon's new burger menu. We had one the other week in Castleford and to be honest it was no better than a Rustler microwave one, I didn't eat it all as the bread was dryer than Gandhi's flip flop and the chip's were no better. I'm not saying all Spoon's are the same as we've had some nice meals in some before. I'd give it a 3 out of 10. Great video as always fella. PS I love the Electric car vlogs you do, very very funny. After eating in a Welsh spoons all having the large mixed grill to be told you cannot specify how the steak is cooked on ordering you just get what you get I was unimpressed especially as two of us were ill with bad belly after the meal! Certainly won't be bothering again far better places to eat for not a lot more

Hi Lee , yes you are right about price difference in certain spoons , I drink in the society rooms in stalybridge and have a pint of corona on draught which is £3.45 , I noticed on the Leeds city Center one it’s £4.10, mins you I was in Nottingham yesterday and tried out Annie’s it was a whopping £10.80 😳, cheers pal , mike from Ashton under lyne .

They have done this type of thing at Morrisons Jetwash .Used to get 7.5 minutes for £3 now you get 6 minutes 😳😡😡

Stick and Twist has not changed from the old one that was knocked down and rebuilt with student flats on top. You should have gone to one of the out of town Spoons such as Chapel Allerton, Headingley or Yeadon. I have looked at a couple of old menus online. Tennessee Burger was 6oz £6.80 with a soft drink and Empire State Burger was 2x 6oz £8.05 with a soft drink. Drink prices in Chapel Allerton are considerably cheaper.

Sorry - but the filthy table would have me scurrying straight out the door and not the first time you've encountered this - UNLESS a member of staff was poised with cleaning spray and cloth in hand and on their way to clean up just as I arrived - wouldn't give the menu a 2nd glance under those circumstances and therefore no custom. That would probably be a deterrent from ever going back.

I went for a traditional breakfast in Streatham London Wetherspoons and found it has gone up by 10p to £4.60 and the bottomless tea has risen by 10p to £1.35 so I forced myself to have 1 extra cup of tea than what I normally have to get my 20p out of them lol

Prices rising and standards slipping. That did look poor Lee. Standard of cleaning has fallen. As far a N Wales branches; half the pubs in are absolutely minging to be honest. Carpets ready for the skip, worn fixings and rickety stinking furniture. Personnel in Management will have an eye on these comments and therefore need to take action. The brand is becoming cheap and rank. Customers deserve and expect more. Come on Wethers, get back to serving honest pub grub of value.

What a big let down, especially after the fantastic BOO burger you had. This Spoons burger looked like an American slider. Chips looked Okay.

there is no real con going on lee the menu clearly says a 3 oz or a 6 oz portion of beef patty in 1 or 2 x 3 oz patties. where the underhand is the 1 oz smaller burger now a 3 oz for the same price as the 4 oz, and indeed shrinkflation, making portions bigger or smaller to accommodate financial climate is real common practice though, when there is a boom on you get stonking great portions, but not in any pub or chain as they are portion controlled, x amount of portions from a box of fries and no less. had the 4 oz meal deal loads of times in the Lord Wimbourne just off the high st whilst shopping in Poole town, always a good lunchtime go to, a nice chilled pint of carly, a burger and fries, sweet as good ole spoons.

Spoons are always filthy , cutelry tables etc etc food is rank, i avoid spoons, rather eat from a street vendor, at least they care about the customer..

That is a shame to see Spoons selling a tasteless burger. I like Spoons food - their small plates are great, even though the prices are increased every couple of months. I've also had their Empire State Burger and thought it was pretty good at a great price. They know more about the price/quality point for their customers than i do but id rather not bother eating if the option is to spend £7 on a dud meal. Fair review as ever. As for not being allowed to film - come on - if i ran i pub id want the free publicity unless my offering was rubbish. Oh hang on.......

One of my locals, The George Hotel in Dereham, does the most amazing Burger. I won’t have a burger anywhere else.
